How far along are you? 28 weeks! Hello 3rd trimester!
How big is baby? Eggplant
Upcoming appointments? Glucose Test and blood work on Monday, growth ultrasound and OB appointment Wednesday
Any new symptoms or changes? If my neck would just not bother me, I actually might feel human.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm nervous about my glucose test. Everything says to eat my normal diet, but my appointment is at 8:30, I have to drink the drink at 7:30 from home. I normally start my day with a bowl of greek yogurt with strawberries and granola, but I am wondering if the strawberries and granola are too much sugar? Any tips? Definitely saving my one cup of coffee for after the test should I even want it. The orange test drink makes me nervous too, since I don't know how I will react to it.
GTKY: What's your favorite family recipe? My grandmother makes this Hungarian cake called Mocha Torte, its a walnut, mocha, chocolatey goodness. I still need to learn how to make it.
ETA: I did read the entire GD thread, which I think only made me more nervous.
Upcoming appointments? Thursday, my appointments have been pretty often lately.
Any new symptoms or changes? I feel great, trying to move as much as I can. My sugar numbers have been great and I am getting the hang of it.
Rants/Raves/Questions? Not today.
Anyone else planning on seeing the Boss Baby? My son wants to see it. It looks funny.
GTKY: What's your favorite family recipe? my moms meatloaf.
@graceriesz I asked my doctor the same question before my one hour. She said if I could fast it would be a great idea just so you don't have to worry about extra sugar being in your system before you take the test. If you do eat I would probably recommend sticking to protein and few carbs or sugars. Hope things go well for you!
@graceriesz I called nurse because my test was 830am too, and she said they recommend not eating before. However, I didn't want to feel sick so I ate a hardboiled egg. The orange drink tasted like orange soda, not even kidding. Not sure why they make us worried when it was no different than drinking a small can of soda lol. I felt fine after.
@jennas312 I still need to order my breast pump! I'm not going to start really worrying about everything until next month. Probably around the 2nd week of May I will make sure my bag is packed and car seat is ready etc. This is my second, it's a boy and I have an older son so I've already went through all of his clothes and washed them and organized them in his room. We're supposed to be having a Sprinkle at the end of this month so I'm kind of waiting to hold off to buy anything else until after that. The first time around I'm sure I used a lot of checklist those were really helpful as far as what I need and didn't need. I did buy some new pajamas (nursing gown) for after I deliver because that was really important to me and a nice robe for at the hospital.
Also next month I will sanitize the bottles once I decide on a breast pump.
How far along are you? 29 Weeks... this is starting to hit "holy smokes I should prepare" time!!
How big is baby? Two Barbie convertibles bouncing around like crazy!
Upcoming appointments? Wednesday OB appointment. I spent the day in L&D Thursday, all was well, just had some menstrual like cramping that freaked me out. I know preterm labour can feel different than term labor, and I had a very precipitous birth with my daughter, so felt safer getting monitored for a bit. Turned out to be nothing, negative fFN which was a huge relief! Avoided steroids and a hospital stay.
Any new symptoms or changes? These babies are getting pretty squished, their kicks are already becoming less blunt, and a lot more "swiping" movements. Hiccups are happening a lot too, which is fun!
Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant at everyone who makes "the face" when I tell them our due month. Yes, asshole, I know I'm large. Two babies will do that. Ugh.
GTKY: What's your favorite family recipe? Lefsa! We spend a full day making it a couple weeks before Christmas. Isn't a holiday season without it!!
Upcoming appointments? Not until next week at 32 weeks. Just went last week and all was good!
Any new symptoms or changes? Just getting quite large and the discomfort is beginning to really set in.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm exhausted. I worked Monday-Wednesday and then attended a conference (to get my continuing education I need to renew my MFT license) all day Thursday-Saturday so it has been a long, busy week. And now today my sister is arriving soon with my 2 and 4 year old nephews and they're staying with us for the next few days. But, I'm going to do my best to rest when I need to!
GTKY: What's your favorite family recipe? My grandmother's crepes. She's French
@graceriesz I found the glucose test to be a piece of cake. I didn't do anything different and ate a usual breakfast. I don't remember exactly what I had that day, but I didn't think much about it and I wasn't told to do anything differently either. I probably had cereal or a bagel or something. The drink tasted fine, just like soda (like @jennas312 said). You'll be fine!
