Pregnant after IF

Follicle size

Hi there, I'm usually on the infertility board but thought someone here might be able to help me. I did my second IUI a week and half ago and I was wondering if anyone has had success after triggering with a follicle more than 25mm? The reason I'm asking is because I'm not comfortable with the protocols of my clinic sometimes. The last time I triggered I had one follicle that was 33mm and one that was 25mm. I was under the impression that you want it around 20mm and that it's sort of "overripe" when it's any bigger. But I asked them and they seemed unconcerned. I was just wondering if anyone has had success with follicles that large?

Re: Follicle size

  • I've been told during IUI that a follicle is ripe at 17mm (until 27mm). When a follicle is under 22mm one will get an injection to ovulate, but when it's over 22mm the hospital will check urine sample to see if one is ovulating by itself.
The thing is that when they reach 25mm they could 'pop' before you do IUI.

  • My clinic - 18-20mm was the goal before triggering, as well as an appropriate E2 level with it.
