  • Hello from Manitoba! I'm due October 21! Summers here are hot!
  • Loading the player...
  • Layla, I'm in Montreal ! It's also my first baby. I honestly don't think i'll mind the hot temperatures since i am used to higher ones : i grew up in Africa lol :)
I just can't wait for winter to be over ! i hate the snow.

Forgot to introduce myself. I'm Natalie. @yasa&son this might be presumptuous but do you speak French?
  • @MamanBee oui définitivement ! :) but it depends if you're asking because of the quality of my written english or outta curiousity looool
  • Je suis une enseignante dans une école française :)
  • That's great @MamanBee ! ( c'est super :) )
  • @Knottie99804698 ive just realized, you skipped the introduction part. You should go and have a look at the "read first" section of this board to better get acquainted with how October moms group works :)
  • Hello Canadian mamas!
I am in BC...until the start of my third trimester when we make the move to Ontario.  It's been lots of fun coordinating prenatal care across two provinces ;)
I may eat my words, but I am looking forward to being pregnant in the summer!  I loooove wearing maxi dresses (or summer dresses in general) to accentuate the bump!  DS2 was born in mid-July though, so I've never had the true taste of being pregnant all summer.  I may change my mind once I get sick of that Ontario humidity.  But it will be nice to snuggle up a baby in a moby wrap and go for walks in the fall weather! (I am due Thanksgiving Monday, but based on previous two pregnancies, I anticipate going maybe about a week early).

Heyo Canadians! I'm from Winnipeg, lived and fell in love in Montreal and settled in Toronto about two years ago! We also lived in Hamilton for about nine months, so I've been around. Not looking forward to the heat and humidity of Toronto this summer, especially if it's anything like last year (or the summer of 2012 in Montreal). I'm in walking distance of the beach, so I think I'd better get a maternity bathing suit!

Edit: OP, you may want to go to The Knot and change your username to something we can recognize and tag. There's a saying around these parts to never trust a knottie, but I think we mostly just want to be able to talk with you and the endless numbers make it really difficult!

Knottie99804698 Welcome, Sarah! I'm Keira from Victoria, BC here. We're also pregnant with our first, due on Halloween (so I'll likely end up being a November mama in the end). Nice to meet some more Canadians around here. :)

reneeannemm Me too! Maxi dresses and skirts and breezy tank tops will be my go-tos. Plus I figure a summertime pregnancy will be less expensive than a winter pregnancy since I don't have to run out and buy a winter coat and lots of pricey sweaters and pants. Have you had any luck finding a maternity swimsuit yet? I'm on the lookout!

  • @keiraanne I haven't even looked yet! I bought four maternity dresses already, all empire waste, a-line style, which is basically what I wear anyway. I was a bit worried because I hate cheap fabric, but they're not so bad. Two from Zulily, two from Motherhood Maternity. Not even sure where to start with bathing suits; I think I might wait until I have a serious bump before deciding. Definitely grateful I don't have to buy a maternity winter wardrobe!

  • reneeannemm There are some cute swimsuits on Pink Blush Maternity's website, but I haven't decided on one yet. Old Navy's swimsuits are kinda blah - I wish there was a cuter selection but they all kind of look the same. Glad to hear you were happy with your Zulily purchases. They have a lot of stuff that looks great but I do wonder about the quality.
  • Hey friends!  I grew up in New Brunswick, did a 7 year stint in Winnipeg and now I'm in Nova Scotia!

@reneeannemm and @keiraanne I was able to get away with a larger sized regular swimsuit last time.  It was a tankini, and I showed a little belly, but it was fine.
  • @reneeannemm and @keiraanne because of you i got depressed this pm loool : i stated looking at H&M bathing suits for preggers but then endend up in the "clothes" section and fell in love with this denim overall. I spent the PM calling each and everyone of them in Montreal ( and surrounding areas ) and can't find it !!! it's only available in size 4 online...which obviously i am NOT looooll...
    i am dyiiiiinggggg :p  :)
  • @yasandson I saw those on their website last night!
  • yasandson Yes! Obsessed with the idea of finding maternity overalls. Did you try H&M's U.S. site? I find their American maternity selection a little bit broader.
  • @keiraanne i haven't... Yet.
Im on it!!!! Lol thanks mama
  • .... Nothing! I am def not giving up! Ill look everywhere, if i find anything worth mentioning ill let you ladies know! My wardrobe is mostly maxis overalls jumpsuits lol. I wont rest until i find it. :p
  • yasandson Same here - if I find some, I'll let you know! :)
  • Another Canadian here! Grew up in NB, went to school in Ontario, and am happily settled in NS. Not sure how I'll handle being very pregnant in the summer... Eat all the ice cream?
  • @Crystal7perry no way!  Where in NB and where (about) in NS. I grew up in Moncton and Bathurst and now I'm on the South Shore.
  • Hello from Ontario! My first baby was born Nov 10th and my due date with this one is Oct 27th. Planned it this way on purpose cause I loved being pregnant in the summer and there are so many other perks as well!

yucky and bloated when it's still crap winter weather

perfect baby bump arrives just in time for spring and summer, super comfy summer dresses and bikini season

ginormous insane belly and swollen feet arrives when temps drop and fall clothes emerge

naby is born at perfect time to cuddle indoors for non stop feedings, sweatpants and pjs plus you have the entire winter to start to feel human again before it's time for warm weather clothes again

    thats my logic anyways:)

    Hello fellow Canadians!!!

I am a STM from Ontario :) Due October 19th!  I love seeing all of you Canadians on here :). I agree with above posters that swimsuits are difficult to find.  I have been looking around but I haven't seen much that sticks out to me.  I don't really want to spend a fortune either.  However, I am looking forward to being pregnant in the summer!! My DD was born in March 2016, so I spent the summer before she was born in my first trimester with some killer morning sickness.. bluhhh. I'm looking forward to some good old second trimester during the heat :) I tend to feel a bit better in the second trimester. My in-laws live pretty close and they have a pool (yay!).  So so blessed to be here!!
  • Another bonus of October due dates if you're a STM+ mom...you won't have a huge belly while battling to get your other kids in winter gear.  I remember one particular struggle with DS1 to get mitts on where I made a mental note "do not attempt this at 7months+".  And the new baby will be small enough all winter to use a bucket car seat, so easy peasy there (ie. you won't have to get them in winter coat; take off winter coat to strap them in, cover them up again, etc.)!

Really enjoying meeting fellow Canadians, some are so close to home! I'm from Brandon MB although I grew up in a small town an hour and a half south east from here. Nice you meet you all!
  • Yay to all the fellow Canadians!

I have been following the board for a while but now I suppose I will officially have to do intros and such because I'm excited to hear about some Canadian-specific things!

I am originally from PEI, I went to Mount Allison in NB for 4 years, and now I live in southwestern Ontario.

Nice to "meet" you all and I look forward to getting to know everyone!
  • @shan24 I grew up in Minto, NB, my family all now live in Fredericton. I live in Halifax now.

    @itsamurphything I went to Mt A for a year!
  • Hello fellow Canadians -  I'm Gayle first time mom and live in Gatineau quebec (near Ottawa) nice to meet everyone - would be great to know people living close by?

Gatineau is 2 hours away. Wouldnt say its close but thus far... We re the closest lol
  • Hi fellow Canucks!

I'm from Calgary and I'm a second time mom. I remember being on a board my first time around and being so grateful to be Canadian when women would talk about how short their mat leaves were, and how expensive everything was for them; if I'm being totally honest, I felt grateful and a little smug!

The reason I'm so excited to deliver in October is so that I'll be able to drink at Christmas!
  • @itsamurphything - where in southwestern Ontario? - if you don't mind me asking! I am from London, Ontario!

I live in Waterloo. Not exactly close neighbours but close enough!

London is part of Southwestern Ontario. It's London, Windsor, Waterloo, Sarnia, that whole general area and all the way out to Hamilton, that's where I live:)
  • @Knottie1447173547 - I know! that's why I got so excited! :) isn't it awesome ? You're pretty close as well!! I have family from Hamilton

@itsamurphything - love it!! Been to Waterloo a bunch of times !

Any other British Columbia-based Bumpies on here? :)
  • **Lurking from August 2017 & PAIF** I hope you don't mind my lurking but we don't have a Canadian thread in my month so I searched "canadian" to see who else was out there.
I'd love to follow along for "canadian" advice. Everyone on The Bump is awesome but it's hard not having a same stores or completely different health plan and our wonderful maternity leave - things like that. I'm in Hamilton (after living in Waterloo then London for a while) and I'm 21 weeks now.

  • @keiraanne Yup! Hello from Vancouver (well, my office is here - we live outside the city).

  • Hello all,  first time mom Evelyn. Ontario living with a due date of October 24-27 but hoping the baby waits until Halloween ! Is anyone else sick with this cold going around? I had 2 tylenols over the last 3 days and I hate myself for it but I had slight fevers. I also drank tons of chamomile with honey and kind of feeling cramping.. any experienced moms ever drunk that while pregnant? Internet says safe and unsafe but I don't know what to think right now. Help?
  • @Eve87 dont feel bad about taking tylenol. Obgyn says there is nothing else you can take when sick. She told me it was the only medication that was safe for me to take, even on a daily basis.
Side note. She even told me whenever i have a jeadache, to take one, because headaches that dont subside with Tylenol *could* indicate pre-eclampsia.
As for honey like i said on other thread she advised me to stay away from unpasteurized ones.
    Feel better
