  • @beezeemarie, totally confused by this too. I say second tri is Week 13. But I know some people say 12 or 14.

@unexpected_blessing, I think with DS I started showing around 15/16 weeks. This time I feel like I started showing at 11 weeks. And had people question me already based on that.
  • @unexpected_blessing with my first, I noticed a difference around 17-18 weeks, but I would say there wasn't anything noticeable to others until around 24 weeks. This time, I've noticed a little bump/bloating already (probably since week 11), but I don't think anyone else would notice anything.

  • @lisa06317 I definitely feel relieved at 12 weeks. Also, if you have seen or heard a heartbeat, your chance of miscarriage is less than 5%. That drops even more at 12 weeks.
  • @ksweet Thank you so much!
  • 4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
i am really starting to hate talking about this pregnancy with people. everyone's so obsessed with the sex of this baby. and everyone loves to comment on how we have all girls. like it is a negative thing. even if the content of what they are saying is fine, the way they say it puts me on the defense. and i really don't know how to respond without flipping out on them. i have always said i wanted 3, why does it have to be assumed we are having 3 for a boy?

We haven't really shared with anyone yet that we are expecting, but I am totally anticipating this too.  We have two boys and we always planned on three as well (maybe 4, but I think we are stopping at 3!).  My husband wants to  be team green (as we have been the previous two times), but I kind of want to find out, if only so that if we are having a third boy, I can get all these dumb comments out of the way from family/friends etc. during pregnancy and not have them bring me down/annoy me once we have our little one!
  • @lisa06317, according to my OB, after hearing the heartbeat at 12 weeks, the risk of miscarriage drops to below 2%. Of course there's always a risk. But you can't live your whole pregnancy in fear or you'll drive yourself crazy! But I know it's hard. I had a MMC in the Fall, so this pregnancy had been a whirlwind of emotions for me.
  • @MrsRuby2012 i am not announcing on FB until i know the sex. i dont want to field 39240242 comments "hope you get your boy!" "trying for a boy?" "3rd times a charm!" i just want to be like bing bang boom. we are having a girl and we are done!

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? How far along did you guys start showing? Or feeling a difference in tummy?
I'm a FTM, I started noticing a firm belly at around 12-13 weeks. I'm now 13 weeks and it's really firm, it's not really that noticeable for anyone unless I point it out or have them touch my tummy, which obviously I won't have any random person do. Also, when I lie down I can see my little bump very clearly.

Edit: I'm not sure why I started getting a 'noticeable to myself bump' this early but I don't think it's baby bloat because it feels really firm, and it's mostly to the left of my abdomen.

  • 1) How many weeks are you? 13 weeks woohoo!
    2) How are you feeling?
Still nauseous and vomiting, but not as often. More like 3-4 days a week instead of every day. I'll count this as a win. I still get tired a lot, but I think it has more to do with having to get up with my three-year-old in the morning while pregnant than just the pregnancy itself. Feeling grateful to finally be heading out of first trimester. This pregnancy seems to have felt like it was dragging on at times (probably because I found out a lot sooner with this one than with our first).
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
    Not this week.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Still can't eat meat. I've finally just gotten to the point where I either cook vegetarian meals, or just eat something other than what my DH and DD are eating. I'm hoping this passes soon.
    5) GTKY: What do you do for a living?

  • @ForwardnBackward  I think it may depend on your body too. I'm only 5 feet tall if I stand straight enough  So I don't think baby has much room to hide in there. Taller and leaner girls may grow bumps much later (based on watching time laps videos on Youtube).

Definitely. I'm probably what one would call on the smaller side.  I got big fast after I started showing...

         Excited, nauseated, exhausted. And bloated.

We got genetic screening results today and         found out we're having a boy! NT scan is

        today!
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Whyyyyy does this trimester last so long?

    5) GTKY: What do you do for a living?
I'm a school social worker in a middle school
  • @callababy17, ooh another social worker! Hi!!!!

@lin1019, totally!!! I'm 5'2" and by the time I was 8 months pregnant with DS, I was alllllll baby! I felt like I was rolling everywhere I went! My SIL is 6' and due in 6 weeks and she barely looks like she has a bump!
  • @mommac2017 i knew I wasn't hust imagining this! I'm pretty eccited to have a very defined bump soon. And scared. I laugh it out because I can feel that there's actually something inside my tummy now. It's so scary and exciting all at the same time!

How did you STM+ mommas felt the first time you started showing? Or noticed that little bump? How long did it sink in that you're actually carrying a little person inside you? This is all so very new to me. But I'm very happy.

I started showing pretty early the first time around! Now at 11w the second time there's literally no hiding it, haha. But honestly @lin1019 it still hasn't sunk in that I carried a person inside me the first time around, let alone this time! :p When I saw baby wiggling on the U/S last week I was astonished all over again!

  • @rawr1131 aaawww  how did you feel when you felt baby's first kick with your first baby?? I'm still very new to all this. As much as I hate all the bad pregnancy symptoms, I have loads that I look forward to experiencing too!

Honestly I don't really remember! This was 3 years ago now haha. I did take a video the first time you could actually see it though... I think it was pretty cool, because at first you feel things inside, and then eventually you start to see the kicks from the outside. It's crazy! And then by the end you can see pretty much all the movement from the outside and it's super uncomfortable haha. I'm with you, I tend to be the miserable pregnant women with the symptoms I have but the perks are definitely awesome!

  • 1) How many weeks are you? 12 weeks
    2) How are you feeling?
    still nauseous ALL. THE. TIME.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
Nope, not for another week and a half
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
aversions to all things meat. WHY!? And why must SO put garlic in EVERYTHING!
Aside from feeling like I have a zoo (4 kids plus one on the way) I have come to a happy place and feel completely blessed to have my big, loud, crazy, blended family.
    5) GTKY: What do you do for a living?
I am currently a SAHM looking to get back into something I can do from home. I'm very crafty, love to crochet so maybe that's what I'll do.
  • 1) How many weeks are you? 12 weeks
    2) How are you feeling?
Starting to feel better with most symptoms easing up except for getting up to pee at night...much to my husband's dismay.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
Yes, appt with my family doc and nuchal translucency ultrasound both on Thursday.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
In spite of putting on a little too much weight for this early on, I put on my jeans today and they fit better now at 12 weeks than they did at this point with either of my previous babies.  So I take solace in that! (though it helps that I dropped some weight before getting pregnant this time).
    5) GTKY: What do you do for a living?
I am a grad student and also work part-time doing some contract work on the side.  A couple of days of the week I've got the kids home with me.  So I guess part-time SAHM too if that is a thing?
  • @lin1019, I remember feeling flutters with DS but telling myself it was just gas. In retrospect I think it was the first flutters! But I do remember feeling the first distinct kicks. It was Christmas Eve (so I was 19 weeks) and sitting in my office at work when I felt this indescribable feeling. I was soooo excited. I stopped working and just sat feeling baby kicking and bonded with the baby. He did not stop kicking that whole evening (especially while listening to Christmas music at church). It was such an amazing moment. I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it. I am so excited to feel those flutters again!

I thibk once I started feeling baby move was when it really hit me that I was carrying a BABY. Like a real human!! Definitely my favourite part of pregnancy!
  • @mommac2017 what a lovely memory and bonding experience with your DS! I got all teary just reading that!!

I remember telling myself it was just gas when I felt the first flutters too. It became real to me that I was actually carrying a baby once I could really feel the movements! I'm so excited to start feeling baby move this time!

  • Wow, those sounds really exciting! @mommac2017 and @Colada584 ! I can't wait to feel this baby move also. I can feel it growing inside me, like my belly getting firmer and a little blump startinh to come out but it's all too good to be true to me still.

Great! Energy is finally coming back. Still get the dry heaves when changing pull ups/wiping lo's butt and some other random things that make me a little sick sometimes but it seems to be lessening again. Oh and these hormone induced allergies are freaking awful!!
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
Not this week. But finally have my NT scan next wednesday!
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Also happy to make it to the second trimester! We announced our pregnancy to our entire family last week. Feels good to not have to keep it a secret anymore!
    5) GTKY: What do you do for a living?
Currently I'm a stay at home mom - homeschooling our preschooler. I worked previously as a math and science tutor/supervisor at my local community college. I'll likely be returning to school when #2 is around a year to finish my Bachelor's in pursuit of a career in Veterinary Medicine...and possibly take up my friend on a standing offer for a position as a lab tech at her chemical analysis lab.
