    @daisy222-2 Fx! Remember there have been successful pregnancies with a beta of three. Think double!!
    @manders726 pregnancy announcements are the worst feeling in the world. I had one last week and I could still cry thinking about it. I would say, try and see how it goes with work. Depending on your monitoring, it's only 2-3 appointments. I say, go for it!

    I had my CD11 check yesterday. Good and bad news. The good, there are three strong follies (12mm- 2 right and 1 left). But the bad news- there are also 6 others that are ranging from 6-10. PCOS is a bitch. I get another ultrasound Monday. My prediction is IUI Thursday unless the other 6 suck up FSH and we have too many to IUI.

    I am sorry morgan&paul2010. Sucks so much.

    I have bad news too. This morning's beta was 11 (down from 23 on Friday). I pretty much expected it, because I have been spotting and cramping off and on since Thursday. Didn't seem right. So I am a BFN, although in a terrible roller coaster way :(  I am sad but also mildly optimistic. I have never ever had a positive test, and so this means that my eggs and my husbands sperm can in fact make an embryo! So step 1 of like 5,000 can happen at least. And we already have the plan for the next IVF cycle mapped out (calendar, meds list, etc), and even mostly paid (since our 1st IVF was cancelled very early). So like @morgan&;paul2010 said, we move forward and wait for AF.

    Thanks for the positive energy everyone. We will get there eventually! Fingers crossed for everyone who is waiting.

  • Sorry about your BFNs @daisy222-2 & @morgan&;paul2010 :( It sucks so much when you've gone through everything and then it's a no. Better luck for next month!

    Question - anyone else get mood swings about a week after IUI? I have had a couple really down days (roller coaster week) and I'm wondering if the clomid + trigger shot (plus maybe some leftover IVF hormones) are messing with me. Or maybe I'm PMSing ? Unsure, would love to hear others' experiences.

    I think if this cycle isn't successful I will take some time off, the hormones have been really tough for me mood-wise. Do most people do cycle after cycle (as my doctor recommends)?

  • rayoflight80 Are you on progesterone suppositories after the IUI? That could  cause pms like symptoms and mood swings. And yes it could easily be from the trigger shot as well, all the meds is messing with our natural hormones.  My RE recommended back to back which we have done.  We have an appointment at the end of this month to discuss next options, but think we may take a 1-2 month break before trying IVF.

    Thanks  @rayoflight80.

    Regarding your question of mood swings during an IUI... I feel like I am one giant mood swing, and it is hard for me to ever pin down why (progesterone, clomid, trigger shot, leftover IVF meds, general IF angst, impending nuclear war, work stress, etc.) I cry a lot more than usual.  But we did decide to wait a month in-between each of the first 3 IUIs. This was to give me a break and to spread out the cost. Travel also played a role in us skipping months. Either way, I'm very glad we did not go back to back (and we tried on our own in the off months so we didn't feel like those months were totally 100% wasted). Does your doctor recommend back to back b/c there is some fertility benefit, or just to get you pregnant faster?

  • We had our 3rd iui on Saturday. I only had 1 mature follicle (25 mm) and DH post wash count was 87 million. Fingers crossed third time is a charm. What were yalls post wash counts? Also, regarding mood swings and emotions, I've been on Zoloft since November and it really seems to help my mood and anxiety as we go through this infertility roller coaster. Anyone else on some sort of anti-depressant or anxiety meds?

  • So, I'm slightly concerned with what's going on with my body.  I stopped birth control one week ago (after taking it for 3 weeks to get rid of cysts) and started a "withdraw bleed" on Wednesday and started my Menopur injections on Thursday.  Yesterday (Saturday) I started bleeding heavily, which has continued today.  I'm freaking out!  How is my lining going to get thick if I'm bleeding.  Tonight was day 4 injections.  Any thoughts?  I have a scheduled E2 check tomorrow and plan to talk to my dr.

  • Thanks all for your honest answers. I didn't take progesterone after the IUI, but I was on it after the IVF and it made me super depressed for sure. It was rough. That was about a month ago. I have dealt with depression before in my life and I am not depressed now but I have down days where I just can't seem to cheer up.

    When I was on progesterone, that felt like a real depression but thankfully I felt less and less depressed after going off it.

    I might talk to my doctor about it (zoloft maybe?) but I also think I need to take a break after this cycle.

    @daisy222-2 I think the doctor just wanted to get us pregnant faster rather than having a reason. Every month we'll be unsure if we can go ahead, though, because I have a blocked tube. Which means that I start clomid, THEN find out if we can go ahead. So part of me feels bad about not trying every month (because it's a 50/50 chance each month it'll even be possible) but part of me thinks, UGH I have to do all this hormone stuff and I might not even be ovulating on that side!

    (Sorry for the long post!)

  • Hi ladies, I'm late to the party but I hope you don't mind me joining. I did the IUI threads on this board for my first three IUI cycles last fall, but we've been on a six month hiatus while DH takes clomid for low motility. This is our 23rd cycle total. I recognize a bunch of you from other boards, so nice to see you here, too!

    Speaking of which, @wabash15 AHHHHH!!! Congratulations!! I am so happy for you!! Yay!!!

    AFM:
    IUI number: 4
    Date of planned IUI: 4/19
    Test date: 5/3 I guess?

    I'm doing a letrozole cycle (2.5mg), on CD13 now.  I had my u/s follie check on Friday and I had one follie at 16mm.  It's actually pretty surprising since my last two IUIs on letrozole I had two follies each, and on the first (clomid) I had 4.  Oh well.  It only takes 1!  My lining was still thin on Friday, but the RE didn't seem overly concerned.  My main concern is that DH is out of town until tomorrow night so I'm praying that I don't get a positive OPK tonight.  I don't think I will, based on other symptoms, but if I do, no IUI for us this cycle.  If I don't, I'll trigger tonight and IUI on Wednesday.

    Favorite springtime activity: Running outside in the evenings because it's finally light enough.

    OMG that is wonderful!! I love how you casually dropped that in. Did you POAS or wait it out till the blood test? When is your next beta? Yay for some good news around here!

    Hi, and hoping for a - OPK tonight so things can proceed as planned!

    rayoflight80
    That's stressful that for half the cycles you are immediately out b/c of the blocked tube. Ugh. Is there any rhyme or reason to which one ovulates in a given month? Like, does it alternate more or less, or is it totally random? (That is probably a dumb question, I should have paid more attention in sex-ed.)

    My lame update is I have an appointment for another blood test on Thursday to make sure the value has dropped to "negative". (I asked how a measurement of a hormone can be negative, and then they said that "negative" hcg means below 5. Man, these people.)  But when it drops to almost zero, I should get a period. And then start on bcp for next round.

    On the phone this AM the nurse said something about how this result (CP, but she calls it "biochemical pregnancy", I guess the same thing?) wasn't surprising given the weirdness of the eggs this time (I had three follies that rapidly grew to 25 mm by day 6 of stims, which is not normal and led to canceling the ivf), and that it makes sense something was wrong with the embryo(s) b/c they "didn't have time to grow a good nucleus". BUT THEN WHY DID WE DO THS IUI grrrrr.

    Me: 34 ("unexplained IF"), DH: 40 (he is fine!), Married since 2013, 2 cats :)

    Jan 2017: 2 months of lupron depot to quiet endo (ugh). Done!

  • @daisy222-2 What, that's SO frustrating! Did you have to pay for the IUI? I would feel the same, like why even go forward if that's what they thought!

    You never know what side you're going to ovulate on until about Day 12 (I think, don't quote me). So my right side is blocked and if I'm ovulating on that side, that month is shot.

    @lindyc13 & @wabash15  CONGRATS!!!

    @wabash15 Congratulations, amazing news.
    @lindyc13 Congrats!!

    AFM: I took a clearblue digital test today and it was negative, I am 12dpiui.  I was feeling pretty hopeful this month as I was not feeling any of the crazy PMS symptoms I get a week in advance of AF.  I know a lot of people recommend the First Response Pregnancy test so can someone tell me if it could be possible that this one didn't pick up HCG if it is in my system?  I have my blood test on Thursday and don't think I will buy any HPT before then unless there is a big difference on the two brands.
