You're too awesome @m6agua! Are you finding that LO isn't always falling on the exact week ranges? DS seems to be ending the crazy part of this leap and is doing almost everything listed but he was just 16 weeks this past Friday.
Mine seemed spot on at the beginning of the leap but then as it as gone on (because it's like 5 weeks?) he doesn't seem to be hitting other parts of it.
Leap 5 - The World of Relationships - 22.5 to 26.5 weeks
From the brief bit I was reading you will notice this leap more around the later part of it. Where previous leaps were more noticeable in the beginning of the leap.
Signs:
Cries more often or longer
Asks for more attention
Sleeps less, sleeps worse, and eats less
Has mood swings
Is not pleased with many things
Might protest being dressed or during diaper changes
Talking to stuffed animals
Wants more physical contact
Shier around strangers
Quieter and less vocal
Less lively
Sucks more often
Reaches for something to cuddle
Abilities after:
Interested in people who act different than normal
intrest in details (i.e. zippers, labels, stickers)
Lifts things up to see whats underneath
Tries to untie laces
Throws something to see the contents
Puts food in mouths of others
Makes connections between words
Blows air
Protests when mom or dad walks away
Stands with help or pulls themselves in an upward position
@mrsmaryk2016 The chart I believe is actually their generic chart for all babies. Each baby might go through their leaps at slightly different times. The big pink/red dot is the only thing that is specific to my baby because it is how old she is currently. ETA: I sorted it based on weeks not by dates. So the numbers would be how many weeks your baby is.
@sandnstarsnj I've noticed my LO typically starts the leaps about a week earlier than the app suggests and that has been pretty consistent. so at 17 weeks she should be in the "stormy" part but I feel like that was about a week to wee and a half ago and she is just coming out the other side now.

From everything i've read on it, this is more of a guideline and all babies will be a bit different. This leap is one of the longer ones and is much longer than previous ones. Also it says that not all babies will do all the things after.
@m6agua Thanks so much for posting this! This is a great thread. I think S is already in leap 5. I don't feel like we got much of a break between leap 4 & 5 and 4 seemed horrendous. Hoping that the rest aren't as bad.
I have the book and the app.... N is at the tail end of the 4th leap. She's not a very fussy baby, I usually only notice she's in a leap when her sleep and eating patterns are off. I need to read the book more, but it is so hard to find time to read anymore.

I'm pretty sure S is going through Leap 5 now, just not sure if we're towards the beginning or the end since I've heard you see the stormy part towards the end. She was doing much better with sleep but H said she hardly slept at all yesterday for her naps. She also ate over 16 oz of BM while I was at work plus oatmeal and banana. That is a lot for her. Then she nursed before bed and woke up screaming at 8 like she was starving and nursed again. She never eats at 8. She ended up nursing 3 times last night instead of her normal 2. Normally after her feedings I can lay her down and she'll go right to sleep. Last night she decides to roll on her stomach and practice crawling! Isn't it a little soon for that? Eventually she stopped and starting crying and it took my over an hour to get her back to sleep. I just hope she sleeps better today and doesn't decide she wants to practice crawling tonight.
What's the app called? I had never heard of leaps before, but sounds like a great way to know what might be going on when your baby had a great sleep routine and now wakes up just about every hour. So. Freaking. Tired.
Leap 6 - The Perceptual World of Categories - 33.5 to 37.5 weeks
Fussy part is in the beginning, followed by a dramatic change in baby's brain waves, head circumference, and glucose metabolism. They will start to develop concepts, such as the concept of animals and shapes. Note: Many mothers are fed up with breastfeeding after this leap, but hang in there it will pass.
Signs:
Jelousy
NIghtmares
Being extremely lovely and seet
Behaving more babyish
Clings to your clothes
Shy
Asks for more attention
Sleeps less, sleeps worse, and eats less
Talking to stuffed animals
Quieter and less vocal, listless
Cries more often, cranky
Mood swings
Refuses diaper changes
Sucks thumb
Abilities after:
Shows that they know some words
Makes clear taht something is dirty (i.e. sniffing)
Also just a reminder there may be a fussy period around 29-30 weeks. This isn't a leap just baby realizing you can walk away and leave them behind. They are learning a new skill; they are learning about distance.

I feel like S has known this from day one. I can't wait until she can play more independently for longer than 2 seconds .

To some degree that's true. I mean, they can smell us uniquely from everyone else, especially if you're breastfeeding.
H said that S gave him a real hard time yesterday and was difficult when going down for naps. I knew she was out of the leap but I remembered the "gray" time so I checked the picture and sure enough she is 28.5 weeks exactly. SHe is right on the dot with this gray period. I really hope it doesn't hit her as hard as the leaps have. FX!
