Increased risk of baby having a chromosomal abnormality due to previous miscarriage?

Hi moms! I am pregnant for the 4th time--2 miscarriage and 1 daughter--waiting on the results from my Harmony test. My mind is in overdrive with nerves just thinking about all sorts of scenarios! I'm trying to relax but it's impossible. My question is, does anyone know anything about whether or not my risks of having issues are higher because I had previous miscarriages? I had 1, then my daughter, then another in Nov and pregnant again in Jan. The dr didn't express any concerns with me getting pregnant again, but she's also very laid back and doesn't like to cause worry. Ugh, so many thoughts!!!

Re: Increased risk of baby having a chromosomal abnormality due to previous miscarriage?

  • I don't think so, unless you have a family history.

I had 2 miscarriages and now have a healthy baby this time. Fx for you and your LO.

  • I've had five losses and have two healthy living babies...& another healthy babe on the way (per the chromosome analysis). @Sugargirl1019 is correct that unless yourfamily/you has/have a history of chromosomal abnormalities , your miscarriage hx has nothing to do with increasing your risk of having one. Hang in there mama!
  • You can have increased risk of m/c when your babe has a chromosomal abnormality but, I have never heard anything about miscarriage making it more likely to have chromosomal issues in future pregnancies. I have had 5 m/c- 3 before my DS then 2 now preg again and as per my Panorama results I am low risk. I did come back high risk with my DS years ago but, found out after a CVS he was perfectly healthy. Without this sounding insensitive I believe without there being any underlying genetic factors from mom or dad, it's all just luck of the draw.

  • I agree with pp. I have had two miscarriages and harmony said my baby is low risk
  • No, it has zero impact on any future pregnancies.

  • Thank you for taking the time to respond...this def helped to calm my nerves a little. I didn't worry like this at all with my first, because this test was t even available! While I appreciate the advancement, it also makes me wonder if too much info is troublesome sometimes! I'm also painfully aware that my hormones have taken over my body haha

STILL waiting for the results, sigh.
