What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? Bladder issues, sore boobs (which I did not have at all the first time around) more energy and increased hunger(same)
Rant/Rave/Questions? I sat in traffic for an hour this morning not moving. There was an 9 car accident that shut down the highway and every alternate way I took was completely jam packed with people trying to avoid the highway. I hadn't even made it to the babysitters to drop of DD. I finally gave up an turned around. I was taking a half day anyway because I have my anatomy scan, so by the time I would've made it to the babysitters and into work it would've been time for me to leave.
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom? "Sleep when the baby sleeps" my favorite comeback was "should I do dishes when the baby does dishes and fold laundry when the baby folds laundry? I know they meant well, but it was just annoying to constantly hear that I should nap when there were other things I needed to get done.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same? I was in choir and band, took piano lessons and on swim team. Out of that I really loved swim team and piano and was the best at those. I for sure catch myself talking about DD taking piano lessons and she's already started swim lessons and loves the pool, so I hope she likes those things, but I'm trying to remember she has her own personality and will have her own things she's into.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? a little spotting after intercourse today, which is freaking me out, but it's so mild...other than that, aimless hunger/cravings. I want something really badly, but I don't know what it is!
Rant/Rave/Questions? We're using another snow day today, which now means we lose a day of spring break. Poo.
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom? That's a tough one...I was receptive to so much advice, so I didn't tend to get annoying things. The one person who I wished I'd never spoken to was the lactation consultant. She made me so stressed about getting DS to nurse enough, and it was a nightmare! He was 5lbs8oz when we left the hospital, and I (unbeknownst to me at the time) had a really strong let down that he would choke. She had me pumping before I left the hospital, and "cup feeding" him to avoid nipple confusion.
If I had just fed him when he wanted it, instead of trying to force the whole process, it would have been 1000x smoother. I ended up never calling her back, and just took the advice of my mom and mother-in-law. I pumped when I was engorged, and let him nurse once my nipples was soft enough. We ended up giving him a bottle at 10 days old, and then returning to nursing once my body calmed down and DS was stronger. This time I will wait on pumping until my milk flow is regulated.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same? I was a ballerina and played softball until middle school, and then I was on swim team and Odyssey of the Mind in high school. I would love DS or DD to do swimming and Odyssey. DS already loves the pool, so we will see.

Cross-posting with Symptoms thread, but this time I am having issues with hemmhoroids and it sucks.
Rant/Rave/Questions?
I've been noticing that I have to exchange favors in order to get Me Time, but DH just gets it (because I value it for us both). I'm trying to figure out how to gently bring this up. Because otherwise, he's pretty great and we're back in the groove after a hard transition to parenting last time around.
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom?
DS was never a good sleeper, and I wanted to throat punch anyone and everyone who had unsolicited advice on the matter. Other than sleep, nothing else bothered me.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
I was big into sports and also some theater. Reading. I think DS may be more musical than us, so we are talking about encouraging that. He will grow up in such a different environment than us (urban Germany instead of rural Ohio) that I don't really have any expectations. I do want him to have the opportunity to develop social and leadership (or confidence) skills, in whatever form that takes.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? sore boobs thanks to the cold, exhaustion still and cravings galore.
Rant/Rave/Questions?
Sinus problems hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday morning. Last night was rotating between not being able to breathe, sneeze fits (5-6 everytime) and my eyes leaking. Almost didnt take my oldest to school (he's open enrolled) or my 2 youngest to speech therapy today. Hoping it starts subsiding soon.

Hmmmm....Will have to think about this one. It's been over 11 years lol
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
I was in quite a bit. Piano lessons, softball, cheerleading and volleyball before high-school then all bands, bowling, yearbook plus opening and closing team. I want my kids to do what they want. If they want to try something new they can buy if it's a seasonal activity they can't quit until the season is over. After season they don't have to go back if they don't want to. My oldest is into reading like I was (5th grader reading at 11th grade level) so I got lucky in that video games aren't the only thing he's obsessed with.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
My back really hurts and sleeping is super uncomfortable - I slept with my belly support band last night and finally got a good nights sleep but now not looking forward to having this thing on me every day for the next 18 weeks!

What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom?
Enjoy this time, it passes too quickly. While I know now how quickly it passes, I am so not a newborn phase person.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
Nothing! just japanese school and math classes. DD is already in weekly art classes but I'm going to try and enroll DD into more activities like piano, acting classes (not for like, real acting, but just so she can work on her self confidence and speaking.) she's not really one to sports, but I'd love for her to find some sort of group activity - open to suggestions if anyone has them!

Woe is me when it comes to sleep. Shortness of breath. I don't remember it starting this early the last time.
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom?
Hm. People didn't tend to give me a ton of advice to be honest. I think I come off as a know it all type because I research everything to death so nobody bothers. My mom did keep telling me not to hold my newborn so much which was very annoying.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
I'm hoping our kiddos take after dad in the the athletic department. He was into gymnastics, football, track, and he's annoyingly good at everything still. Definitely want to get my daughters into gymnastics early.
My parents never signed me up for things and I'm not athletic at all. In elementary school though I had such a lovely teacher who started a book club for select students. She would take us out for a free meal every couple of weeks to discuss a new book. It was awesome I hope my daughters are into reading as much as I was (or am--I always wish I had more time for reading).

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your last pregnancy?
Honestly, I feel pretty good this week, which is a novelty with this pregnancy. Uncomfortably gassy, but that's just inconvenient, rather than painful, so I'll take it. I've also noticed that if I let myself get too hungry, I get a HORRID back ache. That's a new one.
Rant/Rave/Questions?
There are aspects of a military pay check that really suck. Like when switching duty stations and having to adjust to almost $1400 less a month to work with while expecting twins. So that's fun. Budget crunching, here I go!
What is the most annoying advice you got as a new mom?
This one is tough...I honestly was pretty lucky and people tended to keep the advice to themselves. I guess what annoyed me the most was when childless friends would look at me and tell me I was throwing away my dreams by having kids because I'd never be able to travel again (I call horse shit. My son has almost 50,000 flyer miles all his own, and he's only 18 months old). It just really irked me that people that don't have children couldn't just be happy for me, especially since having children was something I desperately wanted and that I struggled with, fertility wise (and didn't hide that struggle). Just smile and tell me you're happy for me and my family, damnit!
What activities did you participate in when you were younger and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
I was a pretty well rounded athlete. I was a competitive rider on the A circuit, played lacrosse, soccer and field hockey, and have been skiing since I was two. I was also heavily involved in theatre, both in school and the local community children's program. I did Mock Trial and Close Up in high school, as well as participated in anthropological and historical clubs that facilitated field trips to various locations. While I don't particularly care WHAT my kids end up doing, it's important to both my husband and me that they end up doing SOMETHING. My husband is a martial artist (Jiu Jitsu), and he does feel strongly that all of them should at least have a basic understanding of self defense, even if they don't continue to persue it as they get older. I believe strongly in the benefits of athletics and the arts, so regardless of their interests, they will end up having extra curriculars.
William Alexander born 18 September, 2015
Harper Grace born 9 June, 2017
Colton Miles born 9 June, 2017
Bowen James due 19 June, 2019
And I agree with you 10000% about the newborn phase and "enjoying it"

Feeling ok, just still peeing every five seconds but I guess that never really went away after my last pregnancy. Old lady Depends are in my future.
Rant/Rave/Questions?
Really struggling with whether or cerclage or not to cerclage due to my short cervix this pregnancy. I'm getting very different opinions from doctors and I wish they'd agree so I could just do what they tell me to do. Of course I want to do whatever will keep this baby safe but it sounds like there are risks with the procedure and it doesn't sound like the statistics even apply to someone in my exact situation. Hopefully my wonderful midwife and doctors will help me decide by next week! I hate tough decisions!
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom?
DD had colic and everyone had an opinion. I wanted to scream to everyone "don't you think I've tried that?! Don't you think I've read every book there is and talked to every doctor?! Do you think I'm choosing to live like this?!!!?" She eventually grew out of it but I felt like it strained my relationship with some friends because they looked at me like I was doing something wrong.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
Ballet, softball (did you ever read Baseball Ballerina @chiquita928? I always felt like it was about me!), choir, violin, piano, musical theatre, voice lessons. Good grief that's way too many but I do hope my kids like piano someday!

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? Still feeling pretty good! Some lower back pain but that's about it.
Rant/Rave/Questions? I'm on Spring Break next week. Can't wait!
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom? The whole general pressure to breastfeed got to me. My daughter was in special care the week after she was born, which made it really difficult to get her to learn how to latch. We got through it and eventually succeeded at nursing, but it would have been so much better without the guilt-laden message of "breast is best" coming from all over the place.
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same? My parents are trained musicians and so piano and choir were big in our house. Sports, not so much. I'm just going to roll with whatever the kiddos seem excited to try.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies? At the moment nothing HORRIBLE. Heartburn is minimal, Unisom is my BFF, and I wear a pad on the reg (spring=snissing)
Rant/Rave/Questions? Nope
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom? Sleep when the baby sleeps (cool, so the house/dishes/laundry is going to clean itself, and re food is gonna cook itself too?!? Awesome)
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same? I was in dance and cheerleading all the way through college. DS already dances whenever music comes on and tries to learn choreography, so I'm pretty sure she's on the same path (2yo)

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Heartburn and food aversions are really my only two symptoms right now. Pretty spot on with my other 2 pregnancies.
Rant/Rave/Questions? I'm mad that I keep forgetting to ask my OB questions when I have an appt! Gah!
What is your least favorite/most annoying "advice" you got as a new mom?
To let people help with the baby. Now, to a certain extent, I totally get it. But, if you're coming over to help me, please, for he love of all that is holy, wash my dishes! Vacuum! Start a load of laundry. Anything but sit around and hold my baby. That's what I need to be doing. Okay, maybe that was more of a rant.. :-/
GTKY: What activities did you participate in when you were younger (sports, clubs etc) and do you hope your kids are interested in the same?
I did Girl Scouts, cheer, basketball, volleyball and Tennis. I hope they get into whatever they truely enjoy. I want them to have fun with it!
