Pregnancy Treatment on Eglin AFB

Hi Everyone!
My family and I have recently PCS'd to Eglin, and I just found out I'm about 4 months pregnant. I'm new to how this military process works so I was wondering if anyone could give me some info about the process.  I've had two other children but not on base, I was allowed my own OB with my insurance.
I called to make an appointment with my PCM this morning, but was told I couldn't get one until I had a positive urine test in the system.  Now the nurse called said it was positive and now I have to "walk into" the OB office!? I'm baffled at this whole process and hope some of you have been through this and can give me some information.

  • If you're interested in choosing your own doctor and off base hospital to deliver at, consider going Tricare Standard. Pretty much all of my prenatal procedures were covered 100% and I think we ended up paying $36 for the two days in the hospital for labor&delivery. A year after switching to standard you're eligible to switch back to prime if you want.

  • Yes. I moved around 18 weeks and I already knew I was having a boy, but I still had to come in and pee in a cup before they could assign me an OB. It's dumb but it's apparently protocol to have it in their records you're pregnant. It took about a week to get in the system once I got a positive test from them, which happened immediately while I was in the office.
