Infertility

Well that's weird

So, I had my first work up at my new RE today. Just a little back story. I went to the initial consultation about two weeks ago, it was also the day my period was suppose to start. A week later my period still hadn't started. I am never that late and I was getting so hopefully  (even though I kept getting bfns). I went in for a blood test Monday and I was not pregnant and my estrogen level was super high so they thought I was about to ovulate.

So today, I go back in. They do an ultrasound and discover a cyst and are not sure if I ovulated or not. A little while later, they call with my results. I never ovulated this cycle and my estrogen levels have come down quite a bit. The doctor thinks my cycle is resetting itself and I should get AF in 3 more weeks (yikes, that is going to be a heavy one!).

Has anyone else had really steady cycles that started becoming abnormal? The doctor said it is nothing to worry about and it happens once in awhile, but it has me nervous, being almost 38, that things aren't working as well anymore.  Oh, and sorry for the book I just wrote, thank you for hanging in there!

Re: Well that's weird

  • Yes, this has happened to me. I'm only 33, but I do skip periods every once in a good while or just have random spotting without what I would consider to be a "legit" period. It definitely freaks me out every time, but having my period tracker has helped me to map out when this happens. I guess sometimes AF just wants to take a vacay.

  • @Ttcnumber2withhypo I'm on CD37 and I've never had a cycle this long!!  Usually my cycles are 26-28 days so this is super odd. I had a failed fet in Jan and this is my first cycle after that, so thinking the meds just messed up with my body.  Nurse said to call on cd40, and they will let me know what to do from here. So odd!!
  • @Ttcnumber2withhypo yep, my normal cycles are all weird now since I did an IUI in July...these treatments really mess you up. Try to not stress too much about it!
    Me: 37 / Hubs: 42

IVF #1 Sep/Oct Microdose Lupron Protocol - IVF cancelled only 1 follicle
IVF #2 Feb/Mar Antagonist protocol w/estrogen priming - 0 eggs retrieved (empty follicle syndrome)
Donor Egg Cycle as soon as we find a match
  • Glad Im not the only one! Having the weirdest and longest cycle of my life after a failed cycle. Today is day 27 and I just had my second US and 4th blood work to try to confirm ovulation so we can do estrogen priming. Apparently I have a 35mm follicle that hasn't ovulated yet! I didn't think they could get that big and asked if it was a cyst. Going back on mon for more blood work even tho I had brown spotting today. Def feel like my body is off after all the meds from last cycle. You are not alone and delays suck!

  • I am not currently doing any treatments so I am just having normal cycles, non medicated and not monitored.
I have mild PCOS, meaning I ovulate late( cd 18-24), have 32-36 day cycles , etc.
I just got my period Wed, Tuesday was CD 50! I spotted from day 14-19 and again from day 27-32. I was beginning to think that last 5 days of spotting was my period
I turn 39 this June and also wondered if I was starting perimenopause.
I am trying to get an appt with my gyno to get some basic bloodwork run. We are probably done ttc but I still want this checked out for piece of mind.
