Hi all - Out of curiosity, have any working moms who have already delivered received a card or gift from their employer? Is that customary or optional?
I work for a big company, but my group at work got together and got me gift cards to Target. I worked at the same place when my first DS was born and I didn't receive anything. I didn't expect anything either time.

I received flowers. Also my boss ordered me a company logo onesie and stuffed animal. DH received a gift certificate for a local meal prep place so we could order some ready made meals. With DS1 we both worked at different companies and received nothing.
My work spent a lot of money on stuff we can't return because it's monogrammed (like Tiffany spoons...what do people even do with those?), and then company logo onesies, which I thought was a cute gesture. My husband's coworkers pooled together and gave us an Amazon gift card, which I thought was more meaningful because it was actually from his coworkers whereas mine is the standard-issue gift that the firm itself gives to any employee who has a baby.
Edited: I reread that and it came across as super mean. Obviously I'm grateful for any gift/kind gesture for my babies. I don't understand certain super expensive, impractical baby gifts, but no one owed us anything and it was thoughtful nonetheless.
My company gave us branded baby bibs. My team took up a collection and got us an Amazon gift card. They also planned a baby shower... which was scheduled for two days after I started working from home exclusively so it never happened. They also sent a card that everyone signed. I work for a tech startup and have been there a lot longer than most of my coworkers which is why I believe they went above and beyond.
I just had my third daughter last week. With my first 2 I received flowers. This time I received nothing. Honestly I was only hoping for a card. I'm a physician at a community hospital and I've been made to feel that my taking time off after baby is a huge problem. That might explain it.
when I had my son they through me a baby shower. (there was a burrito bar cuzexican food is my favourite) Everyone pooled in and I recieved $500 gift card to babies r us plus some adorable outfits, books and toys. it was very lovely and unexpected. this pregnancy I went off without notice because of medical reasons, so I'm not sure if they would have done the same thing Haven't had the baby yet so who knows if they'll send a card. Hubby's work bought us a bunch of diapers and got him a celebratory bottle of whiskey. (edited for spelling)
My work family threw a little baby shower for me. The gift bag included a generous Target gift card, some cute clothes and these adorable "big brother" and "big sister" bandanas for our pups So thankful for awesome coworkers!
SO's boss gave us a generous gift card to Walmart. He works for a privately owned company and we were both so grateful, they really didn't have to do that. I wasnt working at the time for my daughter because of a company closure but my manager at the time did stop by my place with a nice little outfit for DD.
This time I left on sick leave so I don't think my work will gift to us but they did buy flowers for one of my co-workers on her last day before maternity leave. I'm sure they would have done the same had I stayed until my last day and not left on sick leave.
My work threw a mini baby shower for me and the other guy whose wife was due a week before me (she had her baby 2 weeks ago with a planned CS though). A couple people got me individual gifts, some of them were already at the baby shower my mom and aunt hosted in January.
DH's work pooled together a very generous Amazon gc which was super nice of them. It's a small independent company so they didn't have to do it but it was very much appreciated. We bought our glider/recliner with it.

My coworkers threw a mini baby shower for me. It was really sweet!
We haven't received anything from DHs work, but we also haven't had the baby yet. It's not that I think they HAVE to give us anything, its more that they are super generous and give gifts for everything. He got gift cards for Christmas and his birthday this year, so it would be a little strange if they didn't do anything for baby.
My principal and AP both got me something. The other business teacher gave us a gift card. I think our cheer committee at school is supposed to do something because they asked when I was going out. My hubby's students he taught 2 years ago and is now the AP over their graduating class threw him a shower the other day and gave little knickknack baby stuff which was cute and very thoughtful. One of his co-workers gave us a bouncy seat. I don't think his principal gave him anything or any of the other AP's at his school.
My immediate team gave me an amazon gift card which was very generous as this is my second. The company (large national company) itself sends flowers when the baby is born. My husbands company does nothing. We didn't expect anything last time or this time around. If they did anything we considered it overly generous.
My building had a sprinkle for myself and another teacher going out on leave soon as well. They focused on diapers and wipes since it was the second round for both of us (our hubs were both super excited for that cost reduction! Lol). Several coworkers that I'm close to gave us other personal gifts such as gift cards and clothing. Plus a gift card from the staff as a whole.
I work for a very small family run law firm. They actually got the stroller and car seat from my registry which I was so shocked about. I think it really depends where you work. My situation is definitely not the usual.
My work threw a surprise baby shower for me-it was really sweet and we got some really nice things for the baby, including some hand knit outfits. It was not expected, but definitely appreciated.

I work for a small school and they threw a shower they had a cake, decorations, everyone's pitched in and gave us a gift card. Some people got us gifts from our registry. It was very thoughtful! I felt very blessed. DH works in a small department at a hospital and they haven't done anything yet but I wouldn't be surprised if they do (won't bother me if they don't either though).
