Re: Wednesday Ticker Change - 3/8

  • How far along are you?  28 weeks- welcome to third trimester! 11 weeks to go, say what!

How big is baby? Size of an eggplant

Upcoming appointments this week? I had my glucose test on Monday and routine prenatal.

Any new symptoms or changes? Just getting more uncomfortable. Baby boy seems like enjoy my upper right ribs.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: I passed my glucose test but I found out I am now anemic. My fundal height is also measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? I enjoy Thanksgiving. I like the closeness of our families and all the yummy food. There is no pressure to buy anyone gifts.
  • @itsfine congrats on hitting the third tri!  How exciting that our first wave of BMB members are hitting this point.

How far along are you?  26w

How big is baby?  red cabbage

Upcoming appointments this week? next week IUGR scan on Monday followed by GD test and prenatal visit on Wednesday

Any new symptoms or changes?  Getting harder to move about (bend over/down, get up from the floor), heartburn is getting worse and the nighttime congestion is getting rough!

Rants/Raves/Questions?  In just over a week my baby boy turns 3.  I can't believe how big he is getting!

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why?  Well I LOVE the holidays (that warm feeling of the holidays and time with family and friends), but my favorite holiday is actually a tie between Christmas and St. Patrick's Day.  My household celebrates St. Patrick's Day as intensely as Christmas.  Now that I have kids, I think it enjoy it that much more because it is so unique to my side (no conflict with DH's side).  Needless to say... I am looking forward to next week!  Sadly being pregnant on St. Patrick's Day in my family can put a slight damper on things, but still a great time!

    @itsfine Yay for third tri!!!

    How far along are you?
    25 weeks

How big is baby? a prairie dog or baseball glove

    Upcoming appointments this week? Nope.

Any new symptoms or changes? Just feeling really round.  I agree @Elyse1384 it is getting harder to reach for things once I'm in the reclined position.  I feel very beetle like.

Rants/Raves/Questions? The week is almost over so that's awesome.  Also spoke with my sister and my 8 year old niece asked if you pee babies out.  So there is that.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? The 'holiday' I love the absolute most is my birthday.  I generally start a countdown from 6 months out.  I spend the month before reminding everyone that it's approaching.  If anyone, you know like complete strangers, mentions the day, I normally retort with, that's a great day.  I don't really know why I love it so much.  My parents never went overboard and on the actual day I tend to be really low key.  But I just love it.  For real holiday wise, I really love Memorial Day.  Living near the beach there are always a lot of parties and everyone is super hyped for summer to start.  There is a certain euphoria for locals that kicks off that weekend.  It's short lived and normally wears off around July 4th, when we are all over the tourists and just want it to be September, so I try to soak it in while I can.  My aunt has a party every year on the Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend.  A lot of my family that lives further away comes in for it and it's always a blast.  I just love knowing that summer is close.
  • Echoing @Elyse1384 I can't believe mamas on our board are hitting 3rd tri! It sure is flying by.

    How big is baby?
Cauliflower! (uterus the size of a soccer ball!)

    Upcoming appointments this week?
Had one today. Totally uneventful, which is exactly the way I like it, but it was interesting to talk with a different Midwife and learning a little more about the practice. I learned that all of the 13 OBs and the 7 MWs practive delayed cord clamping! When I asked for that from my OB at a different practice almost 5 years ago they were almost annoyed with me, as if that 2 minutes of waiting was killing them. I also learned that the OBs have a 14% C-Section rate and the MWs an 8% rate. It's typical for them to be different but these are closer together than any other one I have known. At the last practice I went to, the OBs were at 33% and the MWs 11%.

    Any new symptoms or changes?
Getting hard to bend over/down, for sure.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
    Nope.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why?
I love Christmas. The general goodwill so many people adopt, witnessing generosity everywhere, giving gifts to everyone I love, decorating my house, fun Christmas parties/activities...I love it all.

    Me: 36;  DH: 38

    How big is baby?
Prairie dog size (never seen one in RL, so I'll take their word on it)

    Upcoming appointments this week?
Not until the 31st - it'll have the glucose screen. Then I start going in every two weeks - what what!

    Any new symptoms or changes?
Hip and rib pain blow. It is making sleeping so uncomfortable.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Nothing too exciting happening this particular week, just trying to keep chugging along. I'm looking forward to being done with work next month and having some downtime before baby is due.

GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why?
Oh man. I have two, completly opposite of each other. Christmas, because I get to see family and usually have long weekends off work. Everything is just really cozy and makes me happy.
The other is 4th of July, simply because it's in summer and there are fairs and festivals all over the place. Summers are a big deal here in AK, so any excuse to celebrate during nice weather is always awesome.
