Re: Monday B*tchfest | 3.6.17

  • Just this day in general!  I've been redoing a bed that was my DH's grandfathers (I think) for my DD.  We finally got it in her room Saturday so that started the big transition from co-sleeping to her big girl bed.  Thank goodness she's been excited about it, but we've had a couple of expected middle of the night wake ups.

So today, I woke up super tired, it's raining and the worst MS I've had so far.  Got to work with an email from my boss @ corporate that he's on his way down for a visit this morning.  Can I just crawl in a hole and die already?

We are renting a house in a couple months so we have to startndexluttering  our townhome and I. Am. Not. Excited about it!! Lol. So much work to do with two kids and I watch other kids during the week. I don't know how im gonna get it done.
Also, I borrowed a Doppler from a friend and it was the worst idea ever. I'm so nervous something is wrong now because I cannot find the heartbeat. (Well, I think I may have found it a couple times and kept it for a few seconds before it went away again maybe.) but even then placenta and my heartbeat are fairly quiet so I'm trying to chalk it up to that. I'm 9+6 and have my appointment tomorrow so I'm trying to not freak out.
Do. Not. Buy. A. Doppler. It will cause stress!!  :'(
ETA: someone help. I've changed my username on the knot and it shows up on my settings here but not when I comment. What am I doing wrong. I'd rather not have my name  :|
  • @AlexandriaNewton I had to email them about changing my name in the community.  They fixed it instantly.

Also, us amateurs with a Doppler, it's really hard to find the hearbeat until we are much farther along.  You may get lucky and snag it here and there but I couldn't consistently find it until I was in my second trimester last time.  That also doesn't mean I haven't been trying this time.

  • @AlexandriaNewton I am pretty sure it is just too early to use a Doppler. 10-12 week is when a doctor can hear reliably. No need to freak out, baby is just too little!

  • @mrs_fogue oh thank you so much on both accounts!! That does make me feel better about the Doppler. I've decided after my appointment tomorrow praying all goes we'll I'll just return it to her because I think it's causing me more harm than good lol.
What email address did you have for them to get them to change it?
  • Seriously, the Doppler was a lifesaver for me in my last pregnancy and I will be using it regularly in this pregnancy. But don't use it before 12 weeks, its wayyyy too early. They don't even use the ultrasound machine to listen to the HB because baby is too small and it can be harmful.
  • I'm annoying myself!!

I have had little to no nausea the last few days. And instead of enjoying it, I spent the weekend panicking!!! Now today it's back, and I want to cry that I didn't enjoy my nausea free days!
  • YES! I needed this!!! YES!!

We have a new hire coming in today, never worked in an office. Well, I'm cleaning out the cubicle where she will work because no one did on Friday (as they were told to) and they weren't in yet today.

Well, I had an old fart coworker try to tell me that I can't move anything in the cubicle because her buddy was supposed to. So I was like, well, your buddy isn't here and the new hire is coming. She proceeded to try to stop me from cleaning to which I ignored. I have seniority here and I work directly under the owner, so go eff yourself, lady!

She apologized some half ass apology later.

and the stuff has yet to be moved from the temporary storage (that her buddy is supposed to do, who is now here)

  • I just spent four days on a performance trip with 30 of my students. We got home at 4:00 PM yesterday and I will be at school for 12 hours today. I feel like I deserve some comp time for being with the kids 24/7 for four days, including Saturday and Sunday, but I can't even take a sick day because I'm trying to save those up for maternity leave.
  • @VLillyV Yeeeep. Me too.

  • @VLillyV and @jessafishy it may be happening, because when this board first popped up... posters decided on one of the first threads that they wanted a less formal board. Users didn't want to stick to only organized threads and wanted a more casual approach. It was agreed that random posts were okay, and nobody would be told not to do it. Not for the intros, etc. but more for random questions that wanted to be asked.

  • I'm so annoyed. Just got asked to do a work presentation that would conflict with my first appointment. I'm not even being seen until 9w and my practice is so busy if I have to reschedule it will definitely be pushed back later, not earlier.

  • Not a major BF - but upset that the first appt with my OB was rushed and confusing rather than long and thorough like everyone said it was going to be. She kept saying "I don't want you to have any questions when you leave" but gave quipped answers and recommended we read "What to expect."

FTM and didn't really believe I was PG - got the 2 lines and freaked out, then scheduled an appointment to double check the $7 pee stick. Well they drew blood, gave me 50 page packet "explaining" the possible testing and process then handed me a clipboard to sign consent for testing I hadn't even gotten a chance to read about yet. Then met with OB a week later at 6wk, got a 3 minute sonogram session that was a little black ball on the screen, and before it set in I just saw a heartbeat of a human in my abdomen, we got shunted to OB who rushed us through signing up for testing.

The whole thing left me reeling and now that it's been a week or two since, I'm really starting to get angry that this moment is being sabotaged because I wasn't prepared for it. Does every woman know all this before getting BFP? Am I being over dramatic or should I try fining another provider?

  • @vvilla3 what you are experiencing is completely normal for most OB offices.  The packet has a ton of info but yet I got most of my answers and knowledge through WTE, this board and just doing research during my first.  It's A LOT all at once but you have 8 months to let it really sink in.  And, it may be that you want to look into a Midwife or a Doula who aren't as formal as the doctor office.

  • @vvilla3 I second @mrs_fogue - your experience seems unfortunately normal for an OB.  I switched to midwives after my first pregnancy and it's a million times more supportive.  They encourage you to call them whenever you're nervous and they take their time in every phone call and appointment.  Really night and day compared to the OB.
  • @dmellis02 if you aren't on mobile it's pretty easy to look at someone's profile/post count to see how much they actually contribute.

Also if someone redirects someone to a different more appropriate thread, not continuing to SS your reply with your due date is also helpful.

  • @dmellis02 I'd say for the most part everyone has been good about putting dates beside the legit thread plus they follow the outline in the *Read First* thread.  I am looking at that thing all the time to double check.
  • Thanks @migdala and @mrs_fogue
I pitched a midwife birthing center to DH and he shut it down quickly. His younger sister was low risk and had to have an emergency c-section at the last minute. He doesn't want to risk a thing. I'm on the fence - because labor/birth scare the bajeezus out of me and birthing centers seem less stressful but also don't want to risk a 10 min ambulance ride when LO is in danger. I'll have to take this to the midwife/ob thread though it seems very midwife leaning lol.

  • @vvilla3 I have the same concerns as your DH, so I found a midwife practice that operates out of a hospital - on the same floor as regular OB labor & delivery, in fact.  I'm in Colorado so I'm not sure how prevalent this is or if it's just a granola thing we do out here, but maybe you can find something similar.  Good luck, whatever you decide :)
  • @vvilla3 I found a wonderful OB/GYN office by stalking internet reviews and looking for a "kind" eye photograph. I also was very particular to choose a private practice, not a corporate doctor. Private practice offices tend to have a more human approach.

Had my first appointment, she was wonderful!

@jessafishy I need a maid too. I seriously have no energy to do anything. Our house is a mess lol. I finally found the energy to do dishes and laundry today, but I didn't clean over the weekend and it got a little crazy.

My BF Monday is that my 3 1/2 year old had a dental appointment today for a cleaning and she has a tiny cavityyy. Ugh I'm just sick over it. I never had any fillings until I was like 25. My pregnancy hormones almost made me cry when they told me lol. I know she will do fine, but I just hate it for her. I always brush her teeth behind her to make sure they are clean. I know it can still happen (my brother and sister both had a lot as children), but UGH!

  • My dog has been acting like she's starving all day and it's driving me fucking nuts. You had your food, GO AWAY!! I don't want you staring at me while I eat. Granted, pretty much everything she does irritates me, but today she is especially annoying
  • @sjohns08 maybe she is sympathetic to your pregnancy, and is feeling the cravings!

  • My BF..I went to Motherhood Maternity today, I'm looking for a Formal dress, something more than casual for a wedding in the summer. I found NOTHING  ..I just was so aggravated with the lack of styles they had to offer. I mean just bc I'm pregnant doesn't mean my sense of style should be so limited to just this and that. I know there is the online option for different stores etc..BUT I like to try my clothes on. I'm just not a fan of the selections I saw today. Motherhood needs to step up their game!!
  • @sjohns08 is your dog suuuuper clingy now that you're pregnant?  Mine has always been a mama's boy, but he's all up in my business ALL THE TIME!
