Hey everyone, I've been sipping on hot lemon ginger tea and it seems to reduce the nausea a bit. I got mine from Walgreens, brand is BIGELOW. It's caffeine free and all natural.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" - Philippians 4:13
@Kalenp I have had loose stool with both pregnancies and no virus.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
I've had a crazy bloat since finding out and nausea until a few days ago. That has subsided and now I just feel full full. Totally embarrassing confession...I got to work today and had horrible cramping. I almost texted DH & am glad I didn't because I just had to use the bathroom. I legit laughed at myself. Pregnancy can make you hypersensitive to your body and freak out about the craziest sh*t....literally.
I feel like half my cramps are from constipation and they're mostly on my left side.
Funny story: I have a family history of ovarian cysts and cancer in my family. About 5 years ago I went to the dr. because when I laid down I could feel a bump on the left side of my pubic area (not stomach). I could feel it almost every time I checked. Dr. checked it out and turns out it was just poop. I pretty much have always had a slower digestive system and harder stools. I even saw a gastroenterologist once and he listened to my intestines and said they were slow. Coffee helps moves things along but of course I have to limit that now. I think half my bloat is just poop.
And I'm not even going to TMI poop because in 9 months we'll all be in poop city so we better get used to it (at least us FTMs) haha
@slaven I've had pretty much that same experience at the dr more than once (embarrassing). Coffee doesn't help me! It's normal for me to only go twice a week, but apple juice has been suggested as well which I think did do a better job than coffee of moving things along. My body is weird.
@DuchessOfCambridge I'll try apple juice. With coffee it has to be perfect timing I think or a particular blend haha. I was at work yesterday in a flowy t shirt and still looked like I had a little bump and the waist band of leggins and sweats hurt. This bloat is killing me. Even laying on my side hurts a bit as my newly found pooch is pulled down by gravity.

@DuchessofCambridge it usually starts there and spreads to the rest. I was ready for a bigger bra around 7 weeks last time.

I kinda am freaking out a bit as I don't have many syptoms. My boobs are sore but nothing crazy, no nausea but it's still early I guess (4.6 weeks), I'm tired a bit but that's cause I haven't been sleeping well due to anxiety. The only thing I notice is. Dry mild twinges in my uterus area. I realize that may actually be a good thing but my PGAL brain is just so overbearing.
Kept almost everything down today. Yay! Gonna give credit to getting acupuncture yesterday. Always helps me for a few days. Still so bloated though I just moved into maternity pants today. No patience for that.
@ShePersisted I don't have a lot of symptoms yet either and I am 4.6 too. Boobs are sore and cramps/twinges too. Hungry more often it seems and there are foods that don't sound appetizing but that's mostly it. A few other things off and on (ie thirsty and stuffiness), sometimes I wonder if those things are even symptoms or just that I am more attentive to my body. I am a little worried as I don't really have any nausea unless I don't eat, but it seems everyone is different.
@ShePersisted I don't have many symptoms either, and if I do, they feel like AF symptoms, or they're not anything I would notice if I didn't know I was KU. I'm barely four weeks and assume as the pregnancy progresses I'll feel more symptoms coming on. The tender nipples today were new!
sidenot: I hate the word "nipple" and it's made me cringe every time I've written it.
@DuchessOfCambridge - Hahaha, I've been having that issue too with the word nipple. I've had breast tenderness in the past but this time I actually have rather awful nipple pain. I had to use that word with my doc to be specific but I almost whispered it. I find it even more strange because I typically swear like a sailor but for some reason I really dislike using that word.
I have found recently that oranges have been helping a bit with the poop situation too but I'm going to get some docusate and benefiber as well, I can't handle the pressure...ugh
Has anyone experienced vision changes already? I feel like I'm super sensitive to light, I had to dim down my computer at work. Obviously Dr. Google says this could be "due to hormone changes in pregnancy"... Just like every other possible symptom that exists. Anyone else having something similar?
@Hopeful87 Have you gotten your blood pressure checked? Make sure you're drinking enough water!
Yesterday I did notice the lights in the hallway seemed brighter, but I also had just gotten up and started to walk. I sometimes have orthostatic hypotension, so I think that explains it.

Agree with @NYTino24. I have super light sensitivity when I'm hypertensive. I've started this pregnancy with mild light sensitivity (my eyes are sore if it's barely sunny and I don't have my sunglasses on) but I know my BP is hanging around 135/80s on meds. I'm extremely sensitive (especially to camera flashes) when it gets high.
Ive actually been trying to fit more exercise in for the past month and a half and dropped close to 20 lbs. Took a test this morning and got a positive result. I suspected it early in the week when my cycle didn't come on. This explains the bloatiness. So much for losing weight but the trade off....wouldn't change it for the world. No other significant symptoms yet.
thanks@NYTino24 and@Roliepoliecoley4 I didn't think about that since my BP in general and with my last pregnancy tended to run low but I will def have it checked. My mom and sister both had BP issues while pregnant so it's worth looking into.
No problem, @hopeful87! PS make sure you include a space before the @ sign or we don't get the tag

Bumping this thread, because I went out to look for this tea and the Bigelow Lemon Ginger tea I found has lemongrass as the first ingredient. Lemongrass is not pregnancy safe, unfortunately. So if I, by chance, found the wrong variety, I would love to know. Lemon ginger tea still sounds awesome.
@artificialred Yikes. I need to look into this further. I even read chamomile isn't good for pregnancy.
I've been buying ginger root to steep in water with lemon. An extra step but it's delicious and you can control how strong you want the ginger taste to be.
@jess0211@adirat I've been squeezing a lot of fresh lemon into hot water because I decided not to continue drinking my regular tea (hibiscus is sketchy on the safety rating??) but peeling fresh ginger is such a hassle. i have been known to literally shake some ground ginger into hot water and call it tea lol, though it tend a to settle to the bottom and unless you stir before every sip, you're in for some spicy last drinks!
Maybe this is a dumb question but is this focused only on herbal teas? I drink a lot of black tea and have switched to decaf English breakfast and have it almost every day...but that's fine right? (I know I'd be fine having a cup of caf tea every day but I'm avoiding all caffeine because I want to)
@DuchessOfCambridge this definitely falls under he "everyone hasn't to make their own best choice" category, but decaffeinating tea can be a chemical filled process. I avoid it for that reason, but otherwise I don't know much much is okay. I was also so frustrated by the lack of good info that I decided on the lemon water and just rolled with it. Bonus, I do think it keeps nausea at bay for me!
I'm also now reading that hibiscus/chamomile, etc, are bad for you during pregnancy and I had no idea. I definitely had like one cup of chamomile and 2 cups off passion tea in the past couple weeks (which had hibiscus in it), should I be worried or am I overreacting? I've stopped drinking tea at this point.

@captainfoxtrot I don't think there's any reason to worry right now. I think it's more of a too much isn't good, but we don't know exactly how much is too much. It's not a well studied thing, and most err on the side of caution anyway. So one or two cups are probably fine. From what I've read about hibiscus is it can act like a blood thinner and lower blood pressure. Not necessarily what you want in the first tri, but could be okay later. I love teas with it, so I'll be asking/researching if I can have it then.
Maybe try the hot lemon water, it really helps me with missing my tea ritual.
