Underarm Rash (with a picture)

Hello! I woke up Tuesday morning with a rash in my arm pit. It has gotten worse since, and it is pretty painful. I have eczema on my arms and legs, so I don't know if it is related or something different. Has anyone had experience with this? Thank you!!

This picture is from tonight. Sorry about the hair! I can't shave right now! Haha

My last pregnancy I had a similar reaction so I stopped using my deodorant and would use coconut oil on the rash. Once the rash went away I used a different deodorant and had no more issues.

Oddly enough, I can use the old deodorant that caused issues during my pregnancy with DD. It could just be your hormones in overdrive.

If it doesn't go away by not using deodorant you should contact your doc.

  • I will try that! Thanks!!
  • Hmm rashes are always hard to tell in pictures. This could be an eczema flare, but I've never seen it in armpits. It could be yeast? I would head to the doc if it doesn't get better. I agree that I would stop deodorant right now.
  • I got a few similar rashes several years ago, and switching from a solid deodorants to a spray deodorant (once it cleared up the last time, of course), helped me. Haven't had one since I made the change.

  • I used to get a rash similar to that whenever I used a certain brand of deodorant and shaved more frequently. The brand was Mitchum. My cousin had the same thing and ended up having the go to the dr. Mine was unrelated to PG since I wasn't PG at the time, as was my cousins. I stopped using it and put neosporin on it and had to stop shaving for a little
  • Thanks everyone! I will try that. It has the weirdest smell, not BO, but something else that I can't figure out. It makes me self-conscious not to put any deodorant on, but I know that's for the best! Hopefully it will feel better soon! :)
  • I ended up going to a prompt care. It is a fungal infection and a bacterial infection. No fun and so painful!! I did a lot of research about the anti-biotic, and it is okay for pregnancy. I'm a little worried about the anti-fungal cream, but I'm going to ask my ob when I go in on Tuesday.
