SAHM and PPD Article

This is an interesting article on post partum depression and being a stay at home mom. Thought it would be a good read for a lot of us. https://mom.me/kids/39578-sahm-depression-real-and-no-one-warns-you-about-it/

Re: SAHM and PPD Article

  • Right now the plan is for me to SAH after this baby comes. My then-3-year-old will be in preschool 2 days/week. I've always worked - always. I've worked since I was 13. Summer jobs, after school jobs, college jobs, and now career. I never thought I would be content to be a SAHM, but for our family it makes sense this time. I suffered from PPD with my first and was on meds for about a year. I'm so glad I got help, but wish I had reached out months sooner.

  • I just saw this thread. It definitely should have got more notice, because this is such a big issue! I too had baby blues that I believed turned into PPD. I didn't know I had it at the time. I thought all moms felt how I did when their world turns upside down after baby one. I thought because I didn't want to "hurt my baby" or it wasn't as dramatic as they make it on tv that I didn't have it. I wish I would have got help. Now with number two, I don't think I'll get it, because that huge shock is gone and I already live the mom life, but you never know! I'm on the look out this time, and I will get help this time If it sneaks up on me! Thanks for this post!

You just described what I experienced as well. I'm hoping if I deal with PPD this time that I can recognize it and get help much sooner then last time.
