I'm 6 weeks and 4 days, already exhausted, I'm group leader of 0-18 month room, staff changes and unreliability means the room heavily relies on me, don't know how I'm going to cope nausea and fatigue so bad yesterday I layed on the mat with the babies and sang to amuse them while pulling myself back together! any advice or similar stories to relate?!

Re: Working in childcare!

  • I worked in child care when I was pregnant with DD a few years ago. I was the teacher in the 3 yo room and was the only one in there most times. I used to nap on my lunch break, in my car or in an empty class, basically wherever I could fall asleep for a bit without being interrupted. The nausea I just had to fight through. I was getting sick multiple times a day and my director knew that so she would check in every so often to see if I needed to use the bathroom. Other than that If I really wasn't feeling good we would just do quiet activities that didn't require much energy. Laying on the mat and singing to the babies was a good idea! It's not always easy but you'll make it through!!
