Randoms Thread for the week of 2/27

Sine there's no way we're going to make it until Monday without the need for a randoms thread, let's do one anyway.  Put all your randoms here! :)  And I promise I'm done starting new threads for the day!

Re: Randoms Thread for the week of 2/27

  • About to run off to a pancake supper at church with both kids and I can't even think about it without feeling nauseated.  Hope I don't completely out myself this early in the game.  If I have to run out in the middle of dinner to be sick, at least DH will be there to cover for me.  Don't want people to think I came sick   :#

  • Our newly adopted Sheltie is getting heart worm treatment and is on prednisone. It makes her pee all the time and the last thing I want to be doing is cleaning up puddles. At least she doesn't pee on the couch like my Maltese, who can only have her couch stairs if I know she's gone potty recently. Thankfully she can't get on the couch without the stairs.

I'm going out to buy a fitbit today to try and not be so sedentary. I got a backpack carrier to take my Maltese with me when I walk our Sheltie. Tried it out today and it was fun.

  • @slaven Yay Fitbits! Check out Walmart and Target, especially for Charge HR and (I think) Flex ... they're on clearance because they are the older models! I have a Charge HR, and I love it.

  • My son was the WORST today. It's not that he wasn't listening; he just did the opposite of everything I asked him to do. Last night, we realized that it's no longer safe for us to use the wooden gates to hold him in the bedroom for timeout because he's able to push them over now. We don't know what the fork to do. (Any other Good Place fans out there?) He seriously needed a timeout today, and I seriously needed him to have one, but there was no way to keep him contained. Ugh.

I have been procrastinating so hard on charging my Fitbit.  I need to do that.  I think I also have the Charge HR.

My son just turned three and I know we went through a period during the middle of his 2's where my husband and I would just look at each other like "What the fork is going on!?" (We do watch the Good Place. :) )  We do 123 Magic with him and for the most part that has really worked, but we haven't had much of a problem with him staying in time out *knock on wood*.  His bedroom is upstairs and we have very steep stairs so when we are downstairs, we just have a chair set out of the way for him to sit on.

My daughter, on the other hand, turns 2 next month and she is a whole different thing.  So so sassy.  I have a feeling we are about to get into with her because she's the one who just smiles at you when you tell her not to do something and then starts to reach out to do it anyway.   >:)

  • @janvier112 What a clever idea! I'm wondering how I'm going to hide any morning sickness, especially when I substitute teach.

  • @slaven I have two teaching assistants in my room so I think I might tell them soon just in case and probably the school nurse too. That way I don't get sent home thinking I have the flu when it's really MS or something else LOL

  • I had to turn down a drink last night, but even though I almost never drink anyway, I felt so awkward. *I* knew this wasn't my usual pass, so it was like, omg they all know now!! It was very dramatic in my head for a few minutes

  • @janvier112 that is genius. I was just thinking about what I am going to do at LO's bday party next Saturday. DH's family are big social drinkers (as am I) and my BIL is absolutely going to call me out. We are craft beer drinking partners so he'll notice right away as we usually bring something for the other to share when we get together. I am not a practicing catholic but I think I could get away with it. With our history of loss, I really just don't want to share the news this early so hopefully this helps keep my cover.

  • I found out the hard way that a large latte from Dunkin Donuts has 233mg of caffeine!!! So much for a morning treat lol I found this link with caffeine amounts for DD drinks (updated in 2016)...https://www.caffeineinformer.com/complete-guide-to-dunkin-donuts-caffeine-content

@flowerpower5838 I figured you'd see me here lol. Thanks girl! Not quite ready to share the news with the class yet if you don't mind keeping my secret for a few weeks!

And I need to change my siggy honestly, I'm usually bumping mobile though, haha.

  • @ArtificialRed I had the same thing happen last night! We were out with my H's coworkers and they have NEVER seen me turn down wine (that makes me sound like a lush, but whatever I own it...)
It was awkward because I wasn't even sure I was pregnant at that point!
  • @ArtificialRed @heatherdubrow DH of all people offered to grab me a beer when we were getting ready to eat dinner last night. I just kind of stared at him like "ummmmmmm" so fingers crossed when we get together with family next week he isn't the idiot who outs me. I'm really going to miss my nightcap.

  • @flowerpower5838 hahaha last month my DH tried to offer me alcohol, but luckily we were at home.

  • So I don't know if this is random or deserving of its own thread.. What's everyone's favorite pregnancy tracking app? I just downloaded the What to Expect app and it wants my email. Don't really want to share that and get spammed if their app is lame lol

  • @artificialred I gave What to Expect a fake email and it didn't validate it ;) I am interested in good tracking apps too though!

  • @ArtificialRed @adirat I liked the Ovia Pregnancy app during my first pregnancy.

  • @ArtificialRed Ovia is fun because it has different themes to choose from for baby sizes. Your baby might be a blueberry, but it could also be a square lego or a ladybug. And it also shows baby's real handprint size growing every week. It did ask me for my email though. It was annoying when they sent me a "Where did you go" email when I deleted the app after I had a MC.
  • I've never used a tracking app so following...
  • Pretty sure I downloaded 5 apps the other day just so I could figure what I liked best. Still haven't decided...

  • I used Sprout last time.  Not the fancy version, whatever the unpaid one is.  I added in my new info, but I just looked at the contraction timer on it and it has all my timing from when I was in labor last time.  Feeeeeelings.  I've never heard of Ovia.  I'll have to check that out!

  • Also, I have been doing really well eating-wise lately.  I wish I had lost about 10 more pounds (who am I kidding, 20) before getting pregnant again but I'll take it.  Then a friend of mine from a previous BMB to whom I had sent baby clothes sent me a huge box of awesome chocolate treats from Canada.  Seriously going to have to hide them from myself.

  • @kschref I feel you on that. I'm continuing my lowish carb diet because it makes me feel good but definitely not denying myself treats when I need/want them!
  • I used Ovia first time around and am using it this time as well. I used their period tracker app in between so it was a smooth transition and I was used to the format.
  • Anyone having cravings already? I swear I had zero pregnancy symptoms this early (5+2) last time and right now I would kill for green bean casserole lol
  • @BayCamp I was craving anything with melted cheese in the beginning of the week- grilled cheese sandwiches, cheesy pizza, etc. I got a big and toasted sandwich on Sunday from Dunkin Donuts that was amazing!!!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @BayCamp No really cravings other than I am just super thirsty all the time.  I have a hard time remembering to drink a lot of water so I'm sure it's just my body giving me a nudge to drink more.

So far for apps I've been using WhatToExpect and Glow (glow lets you input a lot of daily details if you like doing that - like symptoms, water intake, vitamins, etc)

  • @kschref I have been so thirsty as well! I am usually so bad about drinking water but just the last few days I am constantly thirsty!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @jess0211 @kschref same here! I'm constantly drinking water
  • I was super thirsty, especially wanting ice cold water, with my first pregnancy. This time I don't have as much of that going on (yet). But I also drink a lot more water now. I have a regimen lol. I realized because of pregnancy how much better I felt with more water and I've kept up with it since then. I'm wondering if that's why this time is different.

I had zero cravings with DD, and I've already been like, "I suddenly need to eat XYZ right now," about 3 times this pregnancy.
  • I originally thought my thirst was from my probiotics (someone mentioned it in a review) so I stopped taking them but maybe I'll start again since so many of you mentioned it.

I use Ovia as well. I chose the animal theme.

No cravings or aversions per say. I've been less hungry actually, probably early morning sickness. I did feel sick after having some Burger King yesterday.
