Hi everyone! I've been in and out of the bump the last few years and have only posted a few times. At this point I don't even know anymore how long we've been TTC but it's been at least 3 years. I saw my OBGYN about a year and a half ago and she took my blood, told me everything was normal, and then basically told me the reason we couldn't get pregnant was because I was fat and if I lost weight we'd likely get pregnant. *Edited because half my post is missing.
Fast forward to December, my husband finally went in for a semen analysis. Results came back with low sperm count. It took that same OBGYN over a month to actually submit a referral, and last Thursday he went to see a urologist. They did a blood test and the nurse called with the results today. His FSH is elevated. His next appointment isn't until March 15th where they will do another semen analysis and talk about his results. Until then, it's just a waiting game to see what that means and what the next steps are.
Frustrating! I hope you get some answers soon. But, I would consider looking into another doctor. Taking a month to issue a referral isn't good business practices. My doctor submitted my husband's referral the same day I had my HSG, they actually called and made the appointment for him (for the same day). Good luck.
That's definitely happening. She was my OB on file, so they said she was the one who had to make a referral. I'm so tired of the waiting game. I know, we all are..
That's so frustrating! Have you considered a specialist? I feel like reproductive endocrinologists know so much more than a regular OB. Most regular OB's also don't necessarily understand the sense of urgency we feel. Remember, they are ultimately surgeons that are masters in one area but not in infertility.

Yes! Basically he has an appointment mid march for another semen sample and to talk about the options. He's seeing a urologist, who I'm assuming will refer to a RE?
My RE didn't need a referral. I was so tired of waiting, I just went to the OB and said I wanted a referral and my information released. I called the RE and made an appointment and her office was okay with that. My RE did literally every single test the OB did over again; including the sperm analysis. They sometimes like to use their own lab.

Thank you! My OB told me that most of the time insurance requires the referral to cover it. Maybe I will call tomorrow and see what I need to do!
