Breastfeeding

BREASTFEEDING/PUMPING

Anyone else breastfeeding and pumping? I am currently doing both, so that way when I go back to work baby has milk. I will pump in the morning for the first couple feedings then have frozen milk after. So, my questions is right now I have over 600 oz of milk in my deep freezer my breast fill up quickly. I cant keeping pumping because then I will constantly have to buy storage bags and then run out of space. I feel like a milk hoarder. Should I reduce the pumping? I pump every 2 to 3 hours after feeding or even when she isn't ready to eat. I just don't want to effect my milk with mastitis or anything like that.

Re: BREASTFEEDING/PUMPING

  • If you want to reduce the amount of pumping you are doing just do it gradually, or pump for a few minutes to relieve engorgement, but not until the breast is empty. If you are interested, milk donation is another option. Many hospitals and milk banks require your first donation to be around 200oz to make the shipping cost worthwhile. That would be a great gift for a premie mom somewhere.

Also, breastfeeding supplies are tax deductible, so keep your receipts.
