We went to the RE yesterday to get our FET schedule and I had questions about whether we could have sex while I'm on the estrogen suppositories. Her response was "I don't see why not." So I got more specific and asked if it was okay for my husband to be exposed to the medicine or if he should wear a condom. And she said "no he doesn't need to wear protection....WAIT NO! He needs to wear a condom because like...what if you got pregnant?!?!" I thought she was joking. So I just stared at her. She was serious. So I said "yeah. cause that would be awful...."

Lol @tamalahoops I hope your RE was joking...usually the meds to prep for a FET don't allow you to ovulate so there's no way you would get pregnant during the process...
My TP is for DH. FIL is visiting, and DH keeps getting upset because I "don't like his dad". I've never said that, only things that have annoyed me (but it's fine for DH to do the same about his and my parents). Honestly, FIL and I don't have much in common, and whenever DH leaves the two of us alone, FIL kind of ignores me even when I try to make conversation. Also he's very sexist (thinks maternity leave is a bad idea for businesses, makes comments about how the house is dirty when I've been at work all day and all the dirty dishes and beer bottles on the table are from him sitting there all day), and just generally not a polite guest. At Christmas last year, I asked if he wanted prime rib roast or a ham. He picked the roast, I cooked it a perfect medium rare, and he complained that it was rare and microwaved it. I should mention his daughter cooked a legitimately rare prime rib once, and he ate it to not upset her. Also this morning I went in the bathroom, and the toilet seat is up and he didn't even flush. So while DH may be right that I don't entirely enjoy visits from his dad, I still don't think it's fair.
***TW in spoiler***
Especially dealing with learning of our MMC and being upset and worried all week and not being able to explain what's going on to FIL based on DH's wishes, I really just think it's not the time to be throwing this in my face.

@icecubeinthedesert Wow, that sucks. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Does YH know why that stuff is so obnoxious or does he not care? because I can tell you if my inlaws came by and expected me to clean up after them because I'm a woman, I would expect my husband to back me up.
@tamalahoops wow hope your RE was kidding. that comment would not instill confidence @icecubeinthedesert sorry you have to deal with all of that. I'm with you that it's not the time for DH to bring it up.

Should have been more specific...It was a nurse at my RE office. I was very confused by her lack of knowledge. Not only will I not be ovulating, but we've been trying unsuccessfully for 2 years. I have no concern that having sex before my FET will magically get me pregnant and if it did I would possibly die of happiness.

@tamalahoops that nurse should be ashamed..and I am a nurse and usually defend them. But that's pretty basic knowledge and understanding of the ivf process. I hope she felt really stupid after that.
Usually DH backs me up on this stuff, but I think this reaction this time stems from his hurting from the MMC news. I don't think it's intentional, is just the way he reacts when he's upset. But dude, not right now...
Me: 30 | DH: 31 Met: August 2006 Married: July 2012 TTC #1 since June 2016
My TP today is babies at the RE's office (or maybe its more of an UO?). Went to a different office today for DH's SA and my bloodwork. While there in the waiting room there were 2 babies both about 1 yr old. Even DH whispered to me 'aren't they kind of rubbing it in everyone's face?'. This was only my second time at any RE office so maybe it's common but it caught my by surprise. I mean I'm sure some of those women are TFAS or have struggled with IF themselves but I just feel like it's not really the place to bring your baby or toddler. One of them sat right next to me and kept coming over to me, waving hi and even climbed under my chair so I couldn't really ignore her. I definitely saw some others trying to ignore them and I mean they were super cute and all but it still stung a little. Then again maybe I've just become some sort of monster that doesn't want to wave back to a cute baby.
@tamalahoops OMG you could be special snowflake times infinity! KU just before FET! It's the holy grail of "my cousin's wife's best friend's sister's friend" anecdotes! But seriously, I think we're on a similar schedule! I only have the schedule up to ER, but FET would be sometime in mid- to late April (delayed a bit because we're going out of town in early April). I keep staring at the calendar willing it to go faster.
Side anecdote for a TP: One of my friends struggled with IF and posted about it all over FB. One day she posted that she went to the RE for bloodwork and the nurse asked if she was on birth control. Her post was all "Really, lady? What do think I'm here for?" and at this point I didn't know anything to comment, but at least one of her smart friends told her about BCP prep for IVF and she calmed down. She may not have known about the IVF protocol, but I would at least trust an RE nurse to know where she works and what's going on there. I get asked that every time and I didn't throw a hissy fit, even before I knew about IVF.
@icecubeinthedesert Your FIL sounds like a peach. I'm sorry you have to deal with that on top of everything else. I hope your husband can help run interference. I know I'd probably lose my temper at some point.
@safire3 Sometimes I question people's motives when they do things like that, things that are so obviously a terrible idea. They could have just run out of options and had to bring the kid, but the sinister part of my brain thinks they really are trying to rub it in, or at least smugly prove to the "infertiles" that they were able to get pregnant once before. Like when my friend (same one as above) went to her RE's office when she was 8 months pregnant to donate her leftover meds, and said on FB how great she felt to walk in being "that" pregnant. Yes, she admitted to being a terrible person. So, knowing people like her exist, I side-eye babies at the RE.
And a TP to mothers who let their kids run around bugging people. Just because they think their child is precious doesn't mean the world does. I know I'm trying to have a baby and all, but I just don't gush over babies at all. It's not mine. I don't care. Now, put a dog in front of me, that's another story.

I want to TP myself right now. I just checked what the EDD would be if this were my cycle. I used my "normal" O date of CD10, which would be March 1 and DHs bday. The EDD would be November 22, the day before my bday. And I have been saying for a while that I will probably end up having a baby on my bday because I don't like sharing my bday.

Because the thought has crossed my mind that I didn't GKTFU in January (lack of FW HIO) or February (so much HIO, but an-O) because the Chinese gender chart says those babies would have been boys and the universe is going to give me a girl. I want to TP my DH for sending me the link to a house that is 150K more then our top budget. He always acuses me of only liking houses that are "expensive" just for the sake of them being expensive... then his response to me when I said WTF why would you send me this was "I know but it's beautiful". Really.
@eggplantface I've only seen it on Hulu. It's an excellent way to ruin a perfectly good TV show since Hulu often repeats its commercials throughout. May you never have to suffer through it.
I actually have my own TP now: DH's urologist STILL hasn't gotten back to us about his follow-up SA results (he's been on clomid to combat low motility). They've had the results for at least a week, and DH has called every day. They kept saying a nurse would call, then that his actual doctor would call. Nothing. We like the doctor but detest his office. I'm so glad this isn't our normal fertility clinic.

My TP is a woman I work with. I'm pretty apolitical- mostly middle of the road, but leaning liberal (I'm an educated, Jewish, middle class woman from New York, so go figure). This woman I work with became a Republican this year, and is constantly posting the most obnoxious memes on Facebook. This week she took it too far- she's been commenting on things saying that all Muslims should "go back where they came from" and spewing similar vitriol. However, a third of our students are Muslim and many were not born here. If I were their parents, I wouldn't feel comfortable with her teaching my child. I feel like I should say something to admin, but I don't know. It's such a grey area.

@tamalahoops Honestly drs. that don't know what they're talking about worry me. We were TTA for a bit and were looking at it being long term but my dr. here didn't even know what Skyla was (the IUD I had before that she removed) and suggested Mirena which specifically states isn't appropriate for women who haven't had kids...
@safire3 There are definitely times when I don't want to even see a baby because it hurts too much.
@LoveInDC DH thinks he's going to have all girls. Like he thinks he's doomed to lol. He really wants a boy. I just want one...or four (of course not all at once!)
TP to all the pregnant people I know who seemed to all post bump pics in the last few days or the youtube videos that pop up in my recommendations (because I research baby gear a lot, like I'm obsessed)
