Infertility

Hello everyone!! (Loss mentioned)

hi ladies!! Finally making the jump over here because it's hard to find IVF very many other places around here.

Im Mel. DH and I are both 31 and in the medical field. We have been married for over 5 years, together over 11. We started TTC on our 4th anniversary in 2015. We knew we may struggle going in with my history of PCOS, endo and hypothyroid, but never in this manner.  We got our first BFP in jan 16 only to have a MMC at 9 weeks. Our d&c revealed severe chromosomal abnormalities that our dr said was likely fluke chance. We got a BFP first try back, immediate CP. took a month off. Then another CP.

We then moved over to an RE and underwent the gamet of testing. Our karyotyping was normal. I was found to have MTHFR as well as be a carrier for Tay-Sachs, gauchers and hemachromatosis. H luckily does not match any of these. Our RE suggested clomid and IUI to increase our chance of healthy eggs. Second round resulted in a 4th loss at 5w3. Again believed to be bad egg/chromosome issues.

We decided to proceed with IVF for the ability to do PGS and rule out any issues in the future. We went through ER in January, getting 32 eggs. 29 were mature, 24 fertilized and 14 survived to biopsy. Of those only 4 were euploid with the remainder having significant assortment of issues. We are now beginning prep for FET in mid march.

Hoping to get to know all you other amazing women who are amongst the strongest around. Anyone battling IF is a warrior.

  • @DungeonTrollMel- I am so happy to see you here! I have checked back on TB a few times over the last couple months and always wondered how you were doing. I know it's not the path you would wish on anyone, but I am happy to hear of your progress and will have everything crossed for you as you come up on your transfer.

We had to take a long pause after our third failed IUI cycle in October. After some time off and some fundraising, we are planning on using a donor egg and will have our IVF transfer in April. We're paying all out of pocket, but have been fortunate to receive help from several friends and family.

I am so hopeful that we will both have our take home babies soon.

    Big hugs to you!

  • @DungeonTrollMel it's been 2 years since our first & only BFP with all BFNs since so we're gonna start IUI #1 whenever my body decides it's actually gonna O. The plan would be 3 before moving on to IVF. I totally understand needing to take some time away when things get crazy. I'm really glad to see you back so we can show you some support <3

Hola @fivetimesnoluck, another familiar face! So glad to hear you received the help you needed and will be able to move to IVF w/your donor egg!

  • thanks, you wrote great words.
We don't want to give up and will try and try more and more times. Unfortunately, oe and de ivf didn't work for us. Firstly, I thought it's all because my husband but I was wrong. The doctor told it my problem and only I am a cause of failed attempts. We made lots of test and they showed my hubby is health. As ivf didn't work we decided to do surrogacy, according to the latest my doc's result I can't be stimulated in any case. Sounds awful but what we could do. Due to the legislation of our motherland we are not allowed to do surrogacy...

  • @MooFish2364 hey old friend!! I completely understand what you mean. After 4 losses and now with IVF it's just a completely different place to be than I was after the first or second. Becoming a frequent flier was too hard to handle there

  • @DungeonTrollMel I'm doing well! Plugging along. I was hoping to see your name pop up on these boards again so I could follow your journey.

To all the TTCAL ladies...While I hate that so many of us found our way to IF through the world of TTCAL, I love that everyone's support through this horrible trauma keeps finding one another. You're all amazing and I'm rooting for all of you to find your way through this crazy process, whatever that looks like!
  • Ahhh @MooFish2364 I remember you too! Again, I'm sorry you/we are all here but I take comfort in knowing I have TTCAL sisters here through this journey.  Those of us unfortunate enough to experience loss AND infertility need a place where we can lift each other up when we're down.
  • *lurking* So glad to see you guys over here!  I wish you all the best of luck.  I was starting to get worried that the 'long timers' from TTCAL had mostly all left me!
    *TW*
We just had our 4th MC so I think we're going to try naturally again, but IVF may be in our future.
I miss you all and am still rooting for you guys!!!!

@DungeonTrollMel, @BornReady, @Aera11, @brooklyngirl18, @SoonToBeMommaHowe, @fivetimesnoluck. I'm so sorry that we are all here but it is so nice to see some familiar names! I just joined the board a day or so ago after being MIA from TTCAL for a couple of months. I loved that board but just felt like I was in a different place than most on the board. I can't wait to follow all of your journeys!
I felt the same way about being in a different place. Dealing with loss and IF blows and I'm sorry we're all here but it is nice to be with people you "know". Come on 2017 be kinder to us, please!

  • So sorry to hear of another loss, @dpjennifer - that's awful. I missed you and many others, but had to step back from TTCAL after 2016 was such a flop.

Definitely grateful to see so many familiar faces. Cheering for all of us!

Funny story - DH was supposed to submit (yet another) sample for analysis before we have the transfer. We live close enough to the hospital that he can collect at home and drop it off. Well, he had some complications this morning and dropped the cup! :D He called me to ask if I thought he should collect what he could off the floor. I told him no, we probably just needed to make a new appointment! HA!

This process is often as hilarious as it is maddening.

    Happy Thursday, ladies!

  • @fivetimesnoluck my hubby had to do another SA yesterday but he has to do it there. Not only is it totally awkward for him since everyone knows what he is doing; he said it is harder than you think to actually get it all in the little cup they give you. Lol

  • @fivetimesnoluck & @MooFish2364 my husband wants to design a more practical cup haha, he's in agreement with your DH's.
