Re: Healthy Habits Check In (02-19)

  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week? I am relying on freezer meals this week. Morning sickness and nausea has taken over my life and there's no way I'm able to cook right now. Thank goodness I prepped ahead of time and froze meals while TTC.

    2) What are your exercise goals this week? The weather is finally turning nice here! My goal is to go for a walk at least once this week. I know that seems like a lame goal, but I had a bit of bleeding last week which had me totally panicked. So I've backed off on my exercise a bit.

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant? I've done Jillian Michaels 30 day shred several times and really liked it. I also loved the Betty Rocker 30 day challenge (except the yoga. I hate yoga). And I also love Bikini Body Mommy programs.

  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week?
Ive been trying to get pregnant so long that I haven't looked into much once you are pregnant. I am 4+3. Mh and I were basically doing the mediterrean diet. Are fish and shrimp
still okay to eat? I need to look this up.

    2) What are your exercise goals this week?
I was into yoga before egg retrieval but I've stopped since all of that. I am feeling good so I think I want to go back to yoga tomorrow night. I love yoga @mommac2017, what makes you hate it?

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant?
long ago I also loved anything Jillian Michaels (get ripped in 30, 30 day shred, body revolution) and I also liked the bikini body mommy.
  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week?
I need to plan better! Hopefully no food aversions pop up so I can continue to eat semi-healthy. Also I plan to avoid Girl Scout cookies!

    2) What are your exercise goals this week? Continue my regular routine, 4-5 days of HIIT and lifting

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant? Still doing it! Cross fit style workouts. I was able to do them through week 38 the first pregnancy, fingers crossed I can do the same with round 2...

  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week? Today Enchiladas! I finally found Chihuahua cheese!! I have not planned out the rest of the week yet but I'm sure there is chicken, pasta, maybe I'll bake the ham in the freezer lol. I'm so last minute at the end of the month.

    2) What are your exercise goals this week? Just keep cleaning, once I know I'm clear I'll get back to my cardio at the gym but taking it easy since the spotting episodes.

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant? Biking 12 miles a few times a week. Love to listen to my favorite music and just go.

  • 1. Salads and vegetables all week! Ha, who am I kidding. I'm starving and all about takeout right now.

    2. Continue running 3-4x a week and going to barre classes. I'm doing a half marathon in a few weeks so I'll keep up the weekend long runs until then but probably scale back after that.

    3. Still doing them. Running, barre, and yoga.

  • 1. I bought a ton of strawberries the other day, so I'm hoping to snack on those versus junk this week. Other than that, I'm in MS survival mode, so honestly, what I'm eating isn't something I'm caring too much about at the moment. I'm winging it for now

    2. My PGAL brain can't handle doing anything to strenuous since I have been getting crampy if I do too much. I want to start over the 30 day squat challenge this week. Started it at 4 weeks, but the cramps were too much, so hopefully this time around is better

    3. I absolutely love Insanity. I'm the type that has to have such an intense workout that I can barely move and breathe afterwards lol.
  • 1. Seriously craving eggs right now, so eggs. Other than that, trying to keep up the fruit and vegetables before morning sickness sets in!

    2. Plan to run 3x and to box (non contact) twice!

    3. HIIT workouts like Les Mills GRIT. They actually say you can't do it while pregnant, but man do I miss it already!!

  • @runningmama22 what workout can't you do pregnant? HIIT or the GRIT? Also, what is GRIT?

  • 1) Meal plan - it was gorgeous out today so I threw a bunch of chicken, veggies, and sweet potatoes on the grill for easy healthy staples this week. I need to stock up on fruits and smoothie ingredients tomorrow when shopping.
    2) I want to run 5x and hopefully go to yoga 2x.  Tomorrow there's a big group of my friends going on an 11 mile trail run. I'm joining - we will see how it goes.
    3) My Doctor is an advocate of business as usual if it feels ok. I'm a competitive long distance trail runner. Probably no ultras for me this year, but I do have a trophy series I compete in yearly that I'm still planning on if I'm feeling good and doctor still thinks it's alright. Third trimester I will probably cool it down big time though - it's going to be too warm.

  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week? ha, nothing. I still have an injury from my car accident. It's too difficult to stand for long period of times to cook/fix food.

    2) What are your exercise goals this week? Ab workouts, lifting light weights

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant? Zumba!! I love to dance! I'm so busy trying to get the moves down that I don't pay attention to how tired I am.
  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week? Chicken avocado burritos, oriental stir fry with rice, ribs and potatoes with broccoli, instant pot salsa chicken tacos, salads.

    2) What are your exercise goals this week? I've been doing these first tri workouts on you tube. It's amazing and I feel so refreshed after. I'll do it 3 days a week for now.

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant? Turbo fire by Charlene Johnson. I can't do it now because it's really high impact and fast. I get so out of breath now and terrified to do anything high impact.

  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week?
I'm mostly relying on leftovers. Until they fail me, like today. I heated up grilled salmon and broccoli with homemade cheese sauce and couldn't stomach it. Instead I am having romaine lettuce with shredded cheese and blue cheese dressing and a side of freshly whipped cream with blackberries. Nausea is killing me today!
    2) What are your exercise goals this week?
I'm hoping to make it through a full workout without feeling like I'm going to die, and do more than just walk.
    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant?
Stronglifts 5x5 and running (average of 25 miles a week).
  • @brela11: yes shrimp and most fish are safe in pregnancy; fish with high mercury should be avoided; including tuna and swordfish; you can limit canned tuna to one serving a week
  • 1) What's on your meal plan this week? I'm trying to eat fruits & veggies w/ each meal. Smoothies in the morning have been a life saver. The one nice thing is I have less of a craving for candy/sweets, which I'm normally all about.

    2) What are your exercise goals this week? I'm maintaining my sports routine, volleyball, soccer & roller derby. I'll have to stop derby soon, but my doctor is all about keeping up what you've been doing for 1st trimester. I'm going to go stir crazy when it's just gym & water aerobics.

    3) GTKY: What was your favourite workout routine prior to getting pregnant? Sports. I will keep them up for as long as I can then switch to gym workouts & classes.
  • Is anyone else feeling like death while running?? I'm only 4 weeks and 4 days and already my hands swell when I run, and the knee and hip pain is ridiculous!! This is so weird I regularly run half marathons (at like an 8 min mile pace) and I'm finding a 6.3mph jog to feel horrific. I sincerely hope this doesn't last because incline walking for an hour is not cutting it

  • Has anyone had bruising in their ankles? I am just at 9 weeks & felt this was a bit early to experience this type of symptom.
I do exercise often & wondered if it was from being on my feet playing volleyball.
  • @mountainmartha how was your 11 mile trail run? Mine felt great yesterday. I have actually improved my pace since finding out I was pregnant. Not expecting to PR in my upcoming half marathon but under 2 hours may be possible.

  • You guys are super motivating, I need to read this thread everyday. I'm just barely hanging on to surviving right now...
  • Super proud of myself. My goal this week was to hit 7500 steps each day and keep increasing.

    Monday - 7555
    Tuesday - 9080

I know it's not a huge fitness goal. But it's all about baby steps for me. Especially with this horrible morning (all day) sickness! I'm proud!!!
  • I've been eating clean all day (few carbs, green smoothie, protein shakes) and eating normal at dinner but keeping portions small.  Keeping up my same workout regime...5-6x/week weights and cardio. I have a beach Vacation late April so that's major motivation right now....I'll be in that awkward phase where ppl can't tell if I got chubby or am pregnant...sigh
  • @riverraine just reading this now --- it was awesome. We had a nice laid back mixed group and I wasn't the weakest link. Lol. Hope your half goes/went well!
