Suggestions for nausea?

I'm 6 weeks & my nausea is so strong. The only time I feel relief is when I'm asleep. I've been drinking lots of water & eating small, bland meals. It's making it hard for me to function during the day. Any tried & true relief that had worked for you mamas? Thanks!

Re: Suggestions for nausea?

  • Call your doctor and ask them to prescribe diclegis.

  • Peppermint helps me, but mine hasn't been too unbearable.

  • Yeah, it might be time for some meds. Vitamin B6 is useful for nausea and if that doesn't help you can add Unisom.

I'm six weeks too. Here's what has helped me:

-Praying and having the faith that it will leave.

    -Eating saltine crackers between meals.

    -Sour Cherry Jolly Ranchers

    -Lemon Water works as well!

I hope you feel better! I have a new found respect for women who have been pregnant! Lol
  • Vitamin B6. My OB recommended it on Thursday as I'm throwing up 3-4x per day. I take 100mg every morning. Today was my third day and I haven't thrown up at all today!!! The nausea is still there sometimes but it's majorly taken the edge off!
  • Thank you guys so much! I'm sending my husband to the pharmacy now!
  • Non-medical suggestion--crystallized ginger. It tastes awful but helps me. Or ginger capsules.
  • I'm in the same boat! Nauseous from 1-2 hours after I wake up until the time I go to sleep! I tried the Jolly Ranchers today, and they seem to help. But I can't have them while I'm at work, so a friend suggested the diclegis. It might be the best route!
  • Unisom and B6 = Magic
  • Peppermint helps me. I haven't had to this pregnancy, but last time I used Sea Bands for acupressure and that helped, too.
  • I second the suggestion for meds if you can't function. I got Zofran last week and it's such a relief to have it if needed.

  • @AlandkeriA ever since I saw jolly ranchers on your post I've been craving them. Just got them tonight and it is soooo good for my nausea right now. Who would have thought?!
  • @marymoore711 I know right? Jolly Ranchers were my favorite candy anyway before I was pregnant. So I just find them to be great for nausea too.
  • Have you had your first appt yet? My appt is march 2 & I want sure if I could get anything before they see me. Thanks!
  • In the same boat over here! Nonalcoholic ginger beer really helps calm my nauseousness. It has a strong ginger taste without the bitterness of crystallized ginger :) It does have a pretty high sugar content though, so I just sip on it throughout the day. (And of course make sure to double-check that you get a nonalcoholic kind!)

  • These things have saved my freaking life!!!! I picked mine up at the Motherhood Maternity store, but it think you can get them at target and or order from amazon. I don't know what the science is behind these things, but it is immediate relief.

I second this. However, don't eat too many. They will make your tongue crack and peel.

I was gonna get these last pregnancy but they were so expensive at our grocery store :( And also, crazy that it can do that to your tongue!! Good info if I decide to try them out this time around tho

So i've had REALLY bad nausea as well. On Saturday I forgot to take my prenatal and realized I actually ate a full meal at dinner. On Sunday after I took iy, it got bad again. So on Monday I didn't take the prenatal again and realized I felt slightly better. I've decided to switch prenatal vitamins. They will be coming today.

Also, sparkling water with a little bit if lime or lemon. Really helps!
I also find cold fruits really help. I got some watermelon and pineapple and I love it!

  • Things that helped me:
Switch to a chewable vitamin with less iron during the first trimester.

Protein. The more meat I eat, the less sick I feel. It's hard to make myself eat it, but I am like a new woman when I have protein, and cheeseburgers are currently my drug of choice haha.

    Ginger ale.

Eating cereal in the middle of the night (if I happen to wake up and feel hungry).
