Morning Sickness? Try this.

Hello, lovelies. This is a comment I left in another thread, but because I've been reading that so many of you are still in the grips of morning sickness, I thought it might be a good idea to give the topic a thread of its own. Here is the remedy that has worked best for me. If you try it, please let the rest of us know whether or not it worked for you. And if you have any remedies that have worked for you, please comment below! Sharing is caring. <3

First thing in the morning, before you have anything to eat, drink a glass of very cold water with 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar mixed into it. It's a pretty nasty drink, but it works! The cold water helps mask the taste a bit. If you need something else to help improve the flavor, add a tablespoon of honey and squeeze some lemon juice into it. Mix together and drink with a straw. (ACV can be rough on the teeth; a straw helps bypass them.)

I was doing this to cure something else and inadvertently cured my morning sickness! Thought I would share.

Re: Morning Sickness? Try this.

  • P.S. - ACV is also helpful for curing heartburn, getting rid of body acne, preventing and treating UTIs, supporting blood circulation, and, later in pregnancy, treating swollen legs and feet by regulating blood pressure and reducing water retention! It does interact with some meds, so just make sure to check with your doctor if you're using anything before drinking it.

    Alright, let's hear those remedies!
  • I am a huge believer in ACV but not in pregnancy. Since it is a live product I would try to steer clear of it.  Warm lemon water does help for me though.:)

@JustBored10 - Yes, lemon water in general! Hot, cold, lukewarm. I can't get enough of the stuff.

From what I've read, pasteurized ACV is perfectly fine to use in pregnancy. There are arguments over the safety of unpasteurized. Some say it's fine and others say it's better not to risk it. So for anyone who is nervous about trying it, I'd stick with pasteurized to be on the safe side.
  • I just picked up these ginger pills at Walmart that have been working wonders for me! I don't like the taste of ginger, so teas and ginger drops were out of the question. But these you just swallow, and I start feeling better within about 10-20 minutes.

  • I totally forgot about this trick. The girls from my last BMB swore by it.

  • @mrsmgsee - Ginger to the moon! <3 I'm sorry you don't like the taste. Ginger capsules are a great idea for other moms who don't. Personally, I think it's delicious. We do a lot of ginger tea with honey and crystallized/candied ginger. So deliciously spicy.
  • Ginger chews from Trader Joe's are also amazing.
  • I bought chimes ginger candies on amazon, in both regular ginger and peppermint flavors. I like them, so far they've been pretty helpful!

There is an icon that looks like "</>". Click on that, and then paste the code there. That icon is the HTML version of your signature. I'm a web developer and it took me 3 tries to get it figured out, lol!
