What my pregnant self is eating 2/14 Valentine's Day edition!!!

First, I am obsessed with going to our local health food store (about 15 min away) for lunch and getting her house made seed bagel with homemade pesto, olives, cheddar cheese and loads of spinach melt!  She knows I am pregnant so she takes good care of me to make sure I am eating good ;) I have been on a sandwich kick lately.  I also had her make me a chai tea today.

But to the good stuff... I had DH go to a local bakery this morning and pick me up a box of fresh macaroons for me to indulge in tonight!!!

  • DH bought sparkling grape juice for Valentine's Day dinner. Mostly, I'm eating fruit and salad this week. I'm finally able to eat something other than carbs, so I'm excited to get back to real food.

  • So we had a party at work today' and everyone brought in yummy dips and snacks. I could barely eat, I was so nauseous. Tonight, we're supposed to order in, but who knows if I'll feel up to it. Either sushi or Italian. H wants Chinese. For now I'm sticking to bread and water  :(
  • DH wants spaghetti bacon carbonara, but I'll have to see how I'm feeling. Worst case scenario, I make it and don't eat it because I feel gross. But at least DH will get to have something yummy for St. Valentine's day. He deserves it after letting me sleep in and snuggling me this morning to help nurse my headache.
  • Sandwiches are my thing right now. Turkey with swiss and avocado on sourdough for lunch. Yum! I also have a piece of string cheese, fresh strawberries, a pudding cup, and a small glass of milk. I was nauseated all morning, so it was all graham crackers and applesauce.

Tonight we're probably going to get ramen, as long as my nausea stays away. If my nausea kicks back in, DH will order in whatever he wants, and I'll eat more graham crackers an applesauce.

  • So far today I've had pancakes! Woohoo! I have been loving pancakes lately! But they haven't been loving my waistline
  • I had cube steak mashed potatoes corn and Mac and cheese for dinner. We decided to stay home and eat to avoid the crowd but I'm definitely going to make a sandwich because everyone has been talking about them lol
  • Burger, French fries, and fried pickles.
  • Today NOTHING sounds good. I've eaten an egg mcmuffin and some fruit today. I'm currently attempting to eat the 2nd thing DH went to get me tonight, and trying very hard not to gag.

  • Hubs wanted Chinese food for valentines so I got some and can't eat it. I ate all the potstickers and wouldn't let my kids eat any since that's all I could eat!!
  • I'm curious everyone keeps talking about sandwiches...but I've been avoiding them bc they say not to eat deli meat in case of listeria..am I crazy ?!?
  • @paige0704 If you microwave the meat until it is steaming hot then it is ok to use for a sandwich later on as it kills the possible listeria. The chance of being developing listeriosis is still relatively low (1/8000 pregnant women per year) but most people figure why take the risk.

  • Whole foods has great Mac and cheese with blue cheese in it and I poured a bit of queso on it.  Guys I love Texas.  I'm still dreaming about it 12 hrs later.

I ate ham all the time while pregnant with my first. Had no idea you couldn't eat it.

Listeria can be found and grow in anything, when I was pregnant the last time there were 2 major outbreaks in the USA. 1. Blue Bell ice cream and 2. Melons from Mexico. not once did I hear about deli meats.
if you avoid all food that have listeria  risk you would be eating air. The deli meat link to listeria is so overblown- I would be more concerned with nitrates  than anything else.
