Hi there!

I wanted to stop being a lurker and start participating in some discussion, so here I am!

I’m 27, and have been married for 3 years. DH and I put off having children right off the gate to finish up school, but I was diagnosed with PCOS, an underactive thyroid and an abnormally small pituitary gland just before our wedding in 2013. At the time, the endocrinologist I was seeing mentioned we’d probably have trouble having children, so we’ve been dealing with the specter of possible infertility for a while now.  

In late 2015 when we wanted to start TTC we were almost immediately turfed to a RE who we’ve been seeing ever since. We went straight to IUI, I’m guessing due to my PCOS. Luckily it seems like the only issues we have are mine, as DH has always had good numbers.

So far, we have had two unsuccessful IUI attempts (5mg Letrozole CD 3-7 with HCG triggers) and we’re smack dab in the middle of IUI #3 and I’m not responding to the Letro as planned. My RE has switched me to Clomid today (CD 12). I’m a little nervous, as I’ve heard that Clomid has nasty side effects, and it seems super late in cycle to be trying to get follicles to grow, but I’m trying to be hopeful that this change might be what we needed in this cycle.

Anyway, it has been really lonely going this alone while all my fertile friends are having babies, so I’m hoping I can make some friends here who can relate, and hopefully help a bit too!

@krystal_istal sorry about your struggles, feel free to join us in the feb IUI thread. if you have not started maturing any follicles it may not be too late to start clomid. GL

Thanks wabash15! I did have a few follicles but they were all really tiny (less than 7mm, most of them 5mm). I'm hoping the clomid was the kick in the pants they needed to get moving! I have my next U/S on Friday, so hopefully I'll get some good news then.

@bpietronicco Thanks! I'm starting to get excited for my appointment, just trying to check my enthusiasm, this IUI rollercoaster really starting to get tiresome. Best of luck to you on your first IUI! Does your RE do additional monitoring or are you just waiting out your two weeks to test?

@krystal_istal Thanks! I go back on Tuesday to have my progesterone level tested and then back for the pregnancy test a week after that.

@bpietronicco I hope your progesterone check goes well Tuesday! Are you doing progesterone support?

@krystal_istal - not yet- it will depend on my Levels on Tuesday. Right now I take Estrace and zythroid along with vitamin D and prenatals

@bpietronicco Nice. For both my previous IUI's they had me on the endometrin inserts starting 2 days after the IUI. I hope you don't have to do those! They aren't bad, just annoying as all get out!
