Prenatals

i just realized I'm supposed to be taking 3 a day instead of one.  I've therefore been only getting a third of the daily dose.  I am now worried there will be something wrong with baby.  Can anyone advise?

Re: Prenatals

  • I wouldn't fret too much.

First, there is nothing you can do about the past. Just up your pnv so you're getting the correct amount now.

Second, don't know how far along you are, but think of all the people who get pregnant accidently and don't know till 6 weeks in? They haven't taken anything and many times the baby comes out fine.

  • I'm 7 weeks today.
  • You are fine. At least you were taking some of it. Some people don't take prenatals at all or forget often.

Don't forget that prenatals are supplementing vitamins and nutrients that you take in through what you eat as well.  The biggest concern at this point in your pregnancy is folate, and there are plenty of fortified foods and natural food sources of folate that you may have taken in depending on your diet.

Nobody can tell you nothing will be wrong, but honestly no alarm bells are going off, just up your intake to the daily recommended.

  • Thanks!  I eat a lot of fruits and veggies in my diet and I know it is in breads and pastas too.  First trimester I think you just worry about everything.
  • Wait...we're supposed to be taking 3 a day!?!?!   I did not know that...

@shan24 Not necessarily, it depends on what kind of vitamin you are taking. Check your label.
