Re: Sunday Ticker Change (2/12)

  • 1. 5 weeks! I love counting my life by weeks; it makes everything seem so much more attainable.

    2. Feeling good still. Terror is starting to creep in, but I'm doing my best with positive affirmations to keep it out. If I don't eat well, I'll get MS, so it's good motivation to eat the things I know will make me feel good not whatever is closest at hand.

    3. Just acupuncture on Wednesday.

    4. I can still eat! Last pregnancy by 5 weeks, I couldn't stomach a thing, so I'm taking every single meal as a victory right now. No rants, no questions.

    5. It's not really a big thing for us, though I don't think we've ever ignored it outright. I love holidays, but this one isn't my fave. It can feel a little disingenuous, though I really don't think it needs to be that way. I bought my sweetie pie a graphic novel about the neighbourhood in Montreal where we first lived together. I saw a little fancy banana cake recipe, so I think I'll make him cake. Maybe he can sort out dinner; we'll see how much energy I have that night.

  • 1) How many weeks are you? 6 weeks
    2) How are you feeling?
Tired, nauseated, and way more bloated than I care to be.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
    Nope
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I am so tired of my mom in law and sister in law
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing?
No, he has to work. And we don't have a baby sitter for ds.
  • 1. 5 weeks!

    2. Still feeling okay. Just mild cramping, nausea, and bloating. And I am soooo tired.

    3. Nope.

    4. I am going to see Fifty Shades Darker with some new friends this afternoon. I totally need a girls day.

    5. We will get takeout and watch a movie at home. We are pretty low-key.

  • 1) How many weeks are you?   4 weeks

    2) How are you feeling?  Other than exhaustion and bloat, I feel pretty good. The odd bout of nausea in the afternoons. My symptoms came on so strong this time, I really wouldn't be surprised if my edd is really off.

    3) Any appointments or tests this week? Nope.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?  We're bracing for a blizzard tonight that expected to last into Tuesday. It's the third snowstorm we've had in a week. We're all starting to get a little cabin fevered!  My two year old practically begged me to take him to daycare today!

    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing? it's not really our thing. I might bake heart shaped cupcakes for DS, though.  :)
  • 6 weeks today :) feeling ok overall but noticing some aches and annoying little pains, I suppose it's where the ovaries are but who knows. I'm not an expert! Wondering what to make of it. Trying to not let it get to me or overthink it. We have the first us app sometime this week, depending on when the dr thinks it's time to check on things. 2 previous MCs are making me cautious. I'm trying to enjoy this amazing experience and not be thinking of the 'what ifs'

    take care everyone!

  • How many weeks are you?  7weeks
    2) How are you feeling?  Nauseous and tired
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?  No
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?  Living on peppermint tea!
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing? Hubby will be at Army training. We normally go to the movies.
  • 1) How many weeks are you? 4
    2) How are you feeling?
I'm PgAL so I'm super stressed and anxious but trying to be excited. Otherwise I don't feel anything other than tired.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
Not that I know of. I'll probably call my family doc this week to get an appt so I can get my referral to the high risk OB and he's usually pretty good for getting me in quick.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Don't think so, it's sucky being at the end of a birth month haha! I wasn't on a BMB with DD1, with DS I was at the beginning of the month and with DD2 I was at the end (but she came early). It's hard getting into the swing of things when you're late to the game.
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing?
Oh gosh no hahaha! I have three children, am newly pregnant, and lazy. I would love a home date night with yummy food under a comfy blanket :)

  • 1) How many weeks are you? 7 weeks
    2) How are you feeling? Pretty good but do have bouts of nausea and feel hungry often.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week? Yup I have an ultrasound and blood work tomorrow.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions? Now that I can't have it, I really want an Italian sub!
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing? We will exchange cards and treat ourselves to dinner somewhere.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kdel921 I feel ya on the sub!  I bought soft cheese the same day I POAS and had to watch SO eat it all himself!

    I really wanted some, too!
  • 1) How many weeks are you? 6
    2) How are you feeling?
Surprisingly normal. I'm feeling more fatigued than usual and sometimes I feel crampy, plus my boobs have been sore for a couple of weeks now. Other than that, nothing major.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
Phone appointment with my OB tomorrow, but no in-person appointments for another couple of weeks.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I really hate this gray area where I know I'm pregnant but no one else can know for a while. I was supposed to go on my church's volunteer trip to Mexico next week, but now it's probably not a good idea, and the worst part is that I basically have to lie to everyone about why I can't go. Even though I know it's better not to go, I feel like I'm letting everyone down and I can't even tell them why.
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing?
    It's not really our thing.
  • 1) How many weeks are you? 6 weeks
    2) How are you feeling?
    Pretty good actually.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
Another round of betas on Monday
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
My doctor doesn't want me to keep doing the workout program I started a few weeks ago. I'm bummed about it, but I'm already coming up with ways to keep exercising at a lower pace.
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing?
I wouldn't be surprised if we go out for dinner, but we already mutually agreed to no gifts this time beyond candy. Christmas was expensive.

@shan24: I've read that pasteurized soft cheeses are still ok. It's just the ones made with raw milk that are of concern (for potentially harboring listeria).
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @shan24  - Oh man that is the worst!!!  I think we will all have a post baby food binge list!
@verily - I've read that too.  It's so hard to keep track of what you can and can't eat. I need a cheat sheet!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • If you heat deli meat you can still eat it. Really, it's not even as risky as fruits and veggies in terms of listeria (still has nitrates) so I don't even bother with it, I just eat it in moderation.

  • 1. Seven weeks today.
    2. Nauseous. I haven't been sick yet, but I'm generally feeling bleurgh for most of the day. And all my healthy eating plans have gone out the window, as nothing sounds good.
    3. Dating ultrasound on Thursday!
    4. Not really a "rant", but it's been a sad week. A friend of mine died in a kayaking accident and we're all pretty devastated about it.
    5. We don't really celebrate it - we do cards and have something tasty at home for dinner, but we've never fancied the whole "overpriced restaurant full of silent couples" thing :D

  • 1. 6 Weeks Today
    2. I feel awesome today - basically normal, but a little extra hungry.
    3. Nothing this week.
    4. Mini rant - the out of stock bras I ordered over Christmas finally came in this week  :D Good thing they will fit for like 3 more days.
    5. We don't really celebrate - I'm going to make a nice meal on the actual day, and we will probably do dinner out later in the week.

  • 1) How many weeks are you? Six weeks!
    2) How are you feeling?
Okay, I started feeling queasy today, but not too bad.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
    Nope.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
None really, I'm enjoying getting to know you ladies, and this board makes the time go by quickly!
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing?
We are cooking at home, but that's what we like to do! We're going to plan a Disneyland date sometime this week or next if we can find a sitter!

    1. 7 weeks
    2. Nauseous as all get out. It's looking like it's gonna be a repeat of my last pregnancy -- I was sick as a dog from about 6 weeks - about 15 weeks. Also exhausted
    3. No appt until March
    4. I'm so sick of being sick already!
    5. Not our thing.
  • @verily my rational brain knows that.  It's just so early that I think my "don't eat any of the things!!!" brain took over!

@kdel921 for sure!  With my DS, it was alcohol.  I obviously didn't have any, and I'm generally not a big drinker anyway, but anytime someone around me had a drink, I made them let me smell it!
  • @sqfibemom - I hear you on the timing thing.  However, it looks like there are a bunch of us with late October due dates.

@kdel921 - I really like the Ovia pregnancy app.  It has a food thing that you can go to and search food to see if it's safe.  It's really helpful when you're out and about and can't remember all the rules.

@deadasthatsquirrel - Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your friend.

    1) How many weeks are you? 4
    2) How are you feeling?
pretty good.  Queasy here and there.  I have such bad insomnia in the middle of the night, which leads to some sleepy days.
    3) Any appointments or tests this week?
    First blood draw on Thursday.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Nothing yet.  But I already miss coffee.
    5) GTKY: Are you and your sweetie pie doing something for Valentine's? Or is that not your thing?
We usually don't do anything too crazy.  When we do, we prefer to take the time to make a nice meal together and break out our fancy wedding china to eat it on.  It just seems like a forced holiday, and we would rather celebrate more organically.

  • @Tennis11785 - I miss coffee too! Found some really good decaf on Amazon called "no fun Jo" haha... but I am still missing my daily jolt. I was badly addicted to caffeine when I took my test. It was a bad struggle that first week!

I made the switch to decaf, but I still get a regular leaded cup once a day. Be sure to look for decaf coffees that use the swiss water process or the CO2 process to remove caffeine. If they use one of these two, they usually will tell you on the package, and the No Fun Jo states they use the swiss water process. There are other decaffeination methods that involve using chemicals; the FDA claims it's safe but I'm still wary of it and it does alter the taste. Cheaper coffees tend to go for the chemical processes and they don't tell you on the package.

@verily - thanks for that update re: decaf coffee.  I bought some at Whole Foods the other day, I'll have to check it before I open it.

ETA - just checked and its swiss water process.  Should have known Whole Foods wouldn't have steered me wrong!
