24 weeks 4 days
Have my 6 month and my daughter has her 1 year check up on Friday
Currently have super nose. Had to throw out left over cream of broccoli because was gonna make me throw up.
Craving Swedish fish, ice cream, and carbs!!!
My rant is having to take so many breaks to get stuff done
Most recent romantic thing hubby has done is it's his day off and he did all the dishes, did the early morning diaper change so I could stay in bed, and taken extra time with our one year old so I could have "me" time!
Symptoms? Might be getting some acid reflux? I'm not entirely sure what it is, but I've been feeling really uneasy the past few days after I eat, especially in the morning.
Cravings? All the sweets, still.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I've been tossing a lot more at night and keep meaning to get my pregnancy pillow out, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I need to take some stuffing out, because it's just too puffy and hurts my neck.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? I have two that stand out in my mind. One was his proposal. We have a tradition of recreating our first date on our anniversary. We stopped at this clock tower, like we usually do, and I surprised him with a trip to Colorado (I had been planning it for a while and was able to get everything pretty cheap). Well, he one-upped me by proposing. It was so sweet, I honestly don't remember a thing he said, and I didn't see it coming. But, I guess we had similar ideas of surprising each other that year. The other was just a moment I remember really well. It was shortly after we started dating. I found out my parents were going to have to put our dog down. She'd been my best friend since I was 10 or so, I loved her to death. I was so incredibly sad, and he just came over and sat with me as I cried myself to sleep. He's always known how to just be there with me, even when I don't want to talk.
Any appointments this week? I just had and OB and MFM appointment this last Tuesday and I go back in 2 weeks already.
Symptoms? I had the TDap shot and now my arm is sore, not enough to cause concern, but enough to be a bother since I feel like I can't lift it too much.
Cravings? sweets and citrus
Rants/Raves/Questions? I called to get the results of my glucose test and I do not have GD! They did suggest I still watch my carbs but I am so excited about not having to prick myself on a daily basis. I also ordered my pump through insurance and scheduled my repeat C-section. I feel like this week has been super productive and it has made everything seem so much more real.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? When I was pregnant last year, I was so sentimental. I accidently broke this glass that says "Always Country". I found that glass on the clearance shelf in the store at least 6 months before and it was my favorite. I cried because I knew I'd never find another. Well 5 months later, we were shopping at a different store and my husband found 2 identical glass also on clearance and secretly paid for them without me noticing. He surprised me when we got home. I was really surprised that he remembered.
He also sold his beloved first good truck to pay for the hall for our wedding reception. We didn't need anything fancy but he said us getting to married was worth more than anything else.
How far along? 28 weeks! Woo hoo third trimester!!
How big is baby? An adorable eggplant! Lol
Appts this week: I didn't have an appt, but did stop by my clinic's lab to do the glucose test. It wasn't as icky as I remembered (was tested in high school for diabetes) & the nurse seemed surprised that I didn't feel sick. Maybe that's a bad sign if I felt totally normal...
Symptoms: Super tired! Sleeping is hard.
Cravings: chicken penne casserole
Rants/Raves/Questions: We had our childbirth class & a tour of the OB @ hospital this week! I was so excited to go. My due date was latest but my belly was biggest of all 4 women there, which I almost felt bad about at first, but I remembered last week at my appt dr said baby & uterus measured exactly correct.
GTKY: My SO is not big on Valentine's Day, but he knows I enjoy it. He once made me a large homemade Poptart in the shape of a heart! He used pie crust & jelly I had in the refrigerator, even used a fork to decorate the edges of the pastry, & popped it in the oven, all while I was asleep. I was completely surprised. This meant more to me than anything he could have bought me or anywhere he could have taken me.
Any appointments this week? Next Wednesday - gotta do the glucose test then
Symptoms? Had my first Charlie horse in my sleep this pregnancy. I remember going shit ow, and it woke DH. He was able to massage the pain away. Bananas daily from here on.
Cravings? Nothing really. I did buy the egg free cookie dough earlier this week. Mmmm
Rants/Raves/Questions? Rant: DH is sick with a sore throat/runny nose and DD is sick with a low grade fever and had one incident of vomiting. So far, I'm okay and hope to stay that way! The cuddles with her does make up for being cooped up inside.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? Hmmm. He's not really a flower/candies type of guy. One year he had to do a 6 months internship across the country. We had done two years of long distance dating but never went more than a month of not seeing each other seeing we were only 5 hours apart by car. I was still in college at the time so I couldn't visit him until halfway through. The night before he left, he gave me this large wooden vase full of star shaped post its. He also had painted wooden stars and glued them to the end of long sticks and put them in like a bouquet of flowers. I was instructed to take only one post it out each night. It was sweet and something to look forward to on a daily basis, and it was also nice to do over skype. I still have all the post its stored away in a big box of sentimental stuff between each other.
Symptoms? Hard time sleeping, back aches, stiff hips, crotch/pelvic bone aches?, feeling like a hippo
Cravings? Had to have potatoes today, which is a normal craving but had disappeared the last 26 weeks! haha LOTS of chocolate
Rants/Raves/Questions? My class's bearded dragon got a cut which swelled up and ended up costing almost $400 at the vet this week >_< but glad he's getting better (hope it's quick!) I took a very rare personal day off work yesterday and took care of that plus looked at daycares! Feeling torn about a couple but pretty sure which one we'll pick. So happy to have that kind of figured out. AND a parent of a child I taught a few years back got me a hookup to newspaper inserts so I'm getting back into couponing! So excited!!
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? I go into work a lot on Sundays (trying to not but it's sometimes necessary), a few weeks ago I had a TON of work and was really stressed and had given up on the house. After going into work for most of the day, I came home and DH had done all the laundry (including attempting to fold and put it away!) all the dishes, and vacuumed WITHOUT BEING ASKED! He said "I read somewhere once that if you want to give a gift to your wife, doing chores means more than flowers"- I melted haha and I finally got to relax that night. Back when we were long distance we'd write letters to each other, even though we talked every day. He'd doodle all over them about our futures, little drawings and cartoons, I still have every single one. He would never admit it but he is a total romantic
Any appointments this week? Had a check up/ hospital check in on Wednesday, it was a long boring appointment, assessing risk factors and deciding when in need to see the OB's at the hospital. I am low risk for everything including recurring pre-e so I don't have to go back till 36w now.
Symptoms? Heartburn, Pelvic pain, movements, the usual.
Cravings? Iced mochas
Rants/Raves/Questions? Wish LO would get off my RHS, he's nestled himself into my right hip apparently and it's really uncomfortable, especially when I get a foot on the wrong side of my rib cage
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? He brings home flowers and likes to surprise me with dinner and a night away occasionally, don't know really, there's a few little things, nothing really over the top though.

@pshaortao - Charlie horses are AWFUL! I haven't had one yet this pregnancy but there have been a couple close calls during the night. I remember having them during my first pregnancy. @mcvgal - yay for passing the glucose challenge test! I'm anxious for mine next week! @museic- sorry about the large vet bill but it was so kind of you to take care of him!
How far along are you? 27+1
How big is baby? A rutabaga
Any appointments this week? None until next week on Thursday
Symptoms? My low back is sore and my hips are still sore.....especially today.
Cravings? Cheese! Chocolate chip cookies.
Rants/Raves/Questions? I've got a contract with a doula! I'm so excited about that. She is wonderful and I'm excited to get to work with her.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? He's not the most romantic person in the world, but he does so many every day things to take care of me when I really need it (without complaining) that I appreciate so much!
DH: 34/Me: 35 Married: Feb 2008 DD: June 2011 TTC# 2: April 2014 BFP!! 8/29/16 --> EDD: 5/11/17....it's a GIRL!!!
Any appointments this week? I had my glucose test on Wed and found out yesterday that I did not pass. So now I get to spend next Saturday hanging out at the lab for 3 hours. I can't wait. But on a happier note, the high risk specialist has agreed that I don't need to see him every 2 weeks anymore, and that the markers for spina bifida they were seeing early on were likely false. He used the word "optimistic", so I'm choosing to be optimistic, as well. I don't have to see him again for 6 weeks, and that's really just for a final check.
Symptoms? I am just a cranky beast, but I have a bunch of stress from work right now that I think is contributing. Also, my feet are killing me. I wish I had a tiny masseuse who lived under my desk and rubbed my feet all day long.
Cravings? I kind of want to eat all of the food I'm afraid I'll get told I can't eat anymore after the three hour test. Bring on the nachos.
Rants/Raves/Questions? eh.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? Like @march2008 said, he's not always the most romantic person in the world, but the thing he does so well is recognizing when I'm in need of a little extra help or pick me up, and finding a way to help. I probably don't show him enough appreciation.
Any appointments this week? Not for a couple weeks
Symptoms? Lower back pain
Cravings? Sugar and chocolate
Rants/Raves/Questions? I got a nasty cold a couple days ago that has taken away all my energy. Ugh. My nose hurts almost constantly from the sinus pressure.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? When H and I were dating, one month I was having pretty bad period cramps. H and I were hanging out in his dorm room and I was miserable. I was craving chocolate and beef sticks too. H told me he had to go ask a buddy down the hall a question about homework and he'd be right back. About 5 minutes later, H came back with chocolate, beef sticks, and root beer for me that he had gotten from the convenience store across the street. I could have married him right then and there.
@pshaortao I had a Charlie horse last night, and one a few weeks ago. They are no fun!
How far along are you? 25 weeks
How big is baby? A cabbage
Any appointments this week? None, but next week I have a regular checkup with my midwife.
Symptoms? Leg pain, especially on the sides of my thighs. It is waking me up almost every hour or so.
Cravings? Cheez-its, but the reduced fat ones. Not because they're reduced fat, but because I think they are crunchier and taste better!
Rants/Raves/Questions? I am over work and ready for maternity leave! I find it hard to care about anything that goes on, as I am so preoccupied with my own stuff.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? For my most recent birthday (a few months ago) he bought me comfy slippers, relaxing salts for the bath, belly balm and stickers to take belly photos every four weeks. I thought it was so cute, and showed he cares and thinks about my comfort.
@pshaortao Where do you buy egg-free cookie dough!? I have been craving cookie dough. I know I could make it egg-free, but if I didn't have to put in the effort...
Although really, I probably shouldn't be asking about cookie dough I guess. I'm in the same boat as @ChristinaWild with not passing the 1 hour glucose test. I wish I could take the 3 hour one on a Saturday! Instead I have to take off a morning next week to do it.
Any appointments this week? I just had my glucose tolerance test earlier. They called yesterday when I was having a VERY busy day at work and I was unable to return the call until 5 hours later. But the message they had left was, "calling about the blood work, please call back and go to the midwife on call." That sounded bad. I've never failed the glucose test! And I've been eating nothing but sweets and didn't want to change that! When I called back they said I did pass the test, but I was a bit anemic, so I just need to get more iron in my diet. I can totally live with that. And I took that as an excuse to get a cheesesteak for dinner.
Symptoms? Just SPD stuff but it doesn't really feel worse yet than before. A bit of insomnia as well, which I have had on and off throughout the pregnancy.
Cravings? Sweets
Rants/Raves/Questions? DH is in a play next weekend and is gone ALL week because of it (in the evenings; I mean, he will spend the night at home.) I'm really dreading it! But I'm looking forward to seeing it and looking forward to having him back most/all nights after that.
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? There have been lots of romantic gestures & surprises over the years, typically with a dinner out kind of date. This past year for my birthday he took me out to a ridiculously fancy restaurant. I actually can't remember how much of a surprise it was but given the level of restaurant, it was definitely extremely romantic! For not this past anniversary but our previous one, we had JUST moved into town (near where his parents live) and it was our 10 year anniversary. There was no real way to celebrate it, so I thought. But DH combined forces with his parents to make the best anniversary ever. His parents have a house on our street as well as a condo in the neighboring city--the city where DH and I met and lived for a little while. Then we moved away (out of state) for career reasons for 10 years before returning to the city's suburbs on this most recent move. Anyhow, the city is important to us. So for our anniversary, DH's parents lent us their condo for the evening and watched the kids! We got to hang out in the city in the afternoon/evening, then go out to eat at an amazing restaurant (that happened to be the same place where he said "I love you" from my anecdote from last time), and then we got to spend the night in their condo, with a great view. Then we were allowed a leisurely morning before returning. It was really awesome! The best part was getting to walk around in the city near where we had lived so many years ago, reminisce about our past, and also think about our future that we are building in (well around) this city now that we have found our "forever" home.
@kat81 A rutabaga is a root vegetable. It's big and roundish and tastes mild and sweet. Kind of reminds me of a sweet turnip maybe? My mom has always grown them in her garden, otherwise I'd have no clue. I don't feel like you ever see it included in anything.
Sorry to everyone not passing their glucose tests, that's a bummer. I'll have mine in a few weeks...hoping for the best. Does anyone know if your diet in the days preceding the test matters? I haven't heard that it does, but just to eat something healthy and low-sugar in the morning?
@n&a0630 at my supertarget! They had three flavors to pick from: chocolate chips, birthday cake and peanut butter. I had heard of it but never seen it until I started shopping at our supet target near our new place.
Any appointments this week? I was supposed to have an a/s f/u u/s Thursday but we got a blizzard, so that was bumped to Tuesday.
Symptoms? Pretty sure I'm feeling BH.
Cravings? All the junk food
Rants/Raves/Questions? None
GTKY: Continuing the spirit of Valentine's, what's the most romantic thing your SO has done? We're not really what I'd call romantic, but we do try to do sweet things for each other now and then. We were on a job site and my birthday fell on a work day, so he had someone on our team bring in a dozen donuts from Dunks for us, with the entire dozen being my favorite Jelly donut. I don't get them often because they're messy, and we weren't anywhere near the Dunks at the time so it had been months since I had one.
It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.

How big is baby? Cauliflower
