What my pregnant self is eating 2/9...

Homemade gluten free banana bread :) that my hubby so nicely dragged out the mixer and made the other night!  It is rare that we keep bananas around long enough for them to ripen but I bought an extra batch at the store this past weekend just for the bread.

  • I need to make some banana bread myself! That sounds delicious. 

    Today I'm having hard-boiled eggs, banana, and peppermint tea (after freaking myself out researching whether it's even safe or not).

  • I was going to eat my favorite snack for breakfast-strawberries, nutella and Graham crackers. But as soon as I started eating it I hated it. :( 

    Now I'm heading to Einsteins Bagels for a free bagel!



  • I have a couple bananas sitting out to ripen for banana bread right now. They should be ripe enough this evening or tomorrow. I cannot wait!
  • Carbs. I'm trying to work some protein and vegetables in there, but it's hard. I'm really only interested in bread and potatoes.

    I am also gluten free- I dont  know if this makes me weird or not, but I LOVE lightly toasted banana bread with peanut butter- its SO GOOD!

  • Carbs, when I am hungry.  Today I managed a fried egg and a piece of toast.  Probably leftover pizza for lunch when I am feeling better, and then will still be too full for dinner. This is seriously the least I've eaten between the three pregnancies.

  • @bridge-and-wall  I'm eating a lot of potatoes, too. I cried last night because I don't feel like I'm doing a very good job of eating healthy, but eating anything is so hard... I figure potatoes is better than nothing, right? (I hope.)

    Have you ever tried grilled banana bread? My husband will occasionally make that for me, and it is so delicious! I like peanut butter and chocolate chips on top. Yum!

    My appetite is slowly coming back, but it's still precarious. I've been eating all-fruit or yogurt popsicles, still frozen strawberries and mangos, cheese, and crackers with jam on them. The other night I also ate a laddel's worth of homemade chicken noodle soup- just the noodles and broth, but still, it was something! Still no eggs, meat, or veggies, but at least it's more than plain white rice and plain cereal! 

    ETA: spelling is hard.


  • I've really got a thing for graham crackers right now! Once I start I just can't stop...I have also been craving burgers for the last month which is unusual for me and I feel like I constantly have this feeling that is in between hungry and nauseous but the hunger always wins and so I eat...alot...I'm 8w 4days and I have gained 1-2 lbs but I feel like with how much I'm eating I should have gained more!  I am still breastfeeding my DD so that's probably helping.
  • I just ate (inhaled) a burger with onion rings and a few pickle slices on the side. I'm still hungry and I don't understand how. 
  • @amandarene112  Have you tried mashed potatoes? That, applesauce, crackers, and popcicles have been the only things I've been able to eat consistently.

  • @bridge-and-wall and @HollyGolightly09 you're not alone. Carbs and potatoes for me too. I am feeling awful about not being healthy especially compared to being pregnant with my son. But, I just feel so sick.

    Could you please bring some over? lol  I'm gluten intolerant and allergic to soy and I just caved and ate...wait for it...TOP RAMEN!!! I couldn't help myself and wanted it so badly that I decided the ramifications were worth it. I don't immediately react to gluten but it 1) lowers my immune system (so i'm a sponge for colds) and 2) it causes inflammation if I have too much (only time I had too much was on my honeymoon in 2010...so it's RARE that I ever eat it.). The soy on the other hand, meh...makes me feel like i'm retaining water and I bloat like no tomorrow. Figured what the hell...I'm already BLOATED and gassy...how much worse can it get? LOL. News flash...i'm now extra bloated and gassy but the ramen was really delicious. lol

  • @Texafornian my husband has to be gluten free so for the most part I keep it out of the house. He is also not allergic but is intolerant and gets a list of nasty symptoms when he does come in contact with it.  I found a sugar free recipe on line (we used honey) and just substituted the wheat flour with Gluten free all purpose flour.  You would never be able to tell the difference!
  • Cheeeeeeeese!  OMG I am loving cheese sticks lately, which doesn't help my backed up bathroom situ at all ;)

  • @Texafornian I had ramen for lunch too! Only thing that sounded appetizing, oh well. 

    Im eating mostly carbs and lots of cereal. Haven't been eating much meat or veggies but I've been eating at least 2-3 servings of fruit a day.

    OMG I miss Einstein bagels!!!!!! We don't have one here  :'( I discovered them when we lived in Utah and now I miss them soooo much
  • @daniellelynette I'm right there with you. The only Einstein's in town is out in the college campus and I never have a reason to go there. Plus, the line is always long, because college kids.  :'( I used to go all the time when I lived in Austin.

  • @JustBored10 I keep an assortment of GF flours on hand for substituting purposes! I don't have much gluten in our house either...had to specifically go get that darn ramen lol. I found one on amazon that's GF but you have to make your own flavoring...need to research that!
