My TW is taxes! I know there are many people who have to pay each year so I shouldn't complain, but we are literally getting 10% of what we got last year. I'm so not good with this stuff at all, and DH is making like 10,000 more this year than last. That has to be it, different tax bracket or something. We don't want to pay someone to do our taxes because all the prices I've looked up will take everything we are getting back lol. We had plans for that money, me getting to stay home on maternity leave for 8 weeks instead of 6. BOOOO!
@Nolegirl1185 We finished our taxes last week and it was definitely my TW. We owe. A decent chunk. And DH isn't even currently working. Blah! I'm hoping that this at least means that when we file next year with less income and an extra dependent (thanks, Samuel!) that we will at least get SOMETHING back...
Funny thing is that we are apparently considered "upper middle class." What?!?! I mean, we definitely do well (when DH is working), but CA is so expensive that I'm not sure the national average should apply to us.
@Beckyf321 ugh that sucks! Have you reached out to her?
Twice! I messaged her like 10 days ago and her response then was "it will be a week or so". What pisses me off is she has released "sneak peeks" of photos from sessions that were a week after mine. The only thing keeping me from losing my shit is she's supposed to do birth photos for me at a really discounted price.
Yes baby will help next year!! I owed a few years ago because I didn't fill out my W-2 correctly (like I said, so not good with that stuff) so I have extra taken out every paycheck and never had a problem until this year. Our income is considered middle class and on paper doesn't look too bad. But bills, student loans, etc...you all know the drill. Just crazy! I also live in Sarasota county, Fl which is one of the wealthiest cities in Fl. All that means to me is it's expensive and I don't make enough! lol
my TW is my husbands dog. yes, I refuse to claim him right now. I cannot stand how disgusting he is. He is an american bulldog, and while adorable and pretty well behaved, he slobbers everywhere. I am apparently the only one that can see this slobber so I'm the one that ends up having to clean it up. he also drug his nasty ass across the rug today, stinks horribly because his father hasn't washed him yet this month, and now has arthritis so yaaaay for having to get a monthly prescription for a freaking dog. Don't get me wrong, I love animals....mainly when they aren't mine.
@Nolegirl1185 I don't know much about Florida tax laws (except they are way different than here) but did you claim the student loan interest, mortgage interest/rent, etc? We are getting a lot less back this year as well BC we made more and were put in a different tax bracket (I was a stay at home mom until august 2015) but I'm just being thankful we don't owe! And jealous my friend just complained about getting back 10 grand
@Beckyf321 that would annoy me too, my wedding photographer took months to get us our pictures..Thankfully they came out great which made it a bit better..but Everytime she would post sneak peaks from a wedding that happened a month after ours I would find myself more and more irritated..
Yeah my husband switched jobs and the sign-on bonus messed with our usual decent return amount. And the bonus definitely went to the ridiculous cost of moving so it's not like we splurged on a big vacation or fancy car or anything! We did buy a home, but it wasn't our first so it won't help all that much. Would love to have the amount we got last year right in time for new baby expenses!
a little background info, I'm a personal Assistant and I work out of my client's home. I'm in maternity leave now and she took over last week. The job has different tasks ranging from paying bills, filling, errands, and doing small tasks like emptying the ice maker.
I gave the new person my phone and email to contact me if she had questions since I only had a limited time for training. I'm so regretting it. She has contacted me every single day with texts, emails, and calls. Only a couple questions have been legit important. The rest are things like where are the stamps kept? Where do I file this paper? And how do I work the ice maker? She has a manual that I wrote all this out with instructions and she still doesn't understand that the ice maker is automatic. She needs to use common sense and figure things out.
@KirstinH88 right??? 10k would help so much.. She is getting back nearly twice as much as she paid in! I'm totally jealous but who can even complain about that?!
@Nolegirl1185 Sorry not sorry that you're getting no sympathy from me. We owe 5 weeks worth of daycare that has to come out of our savings.
ETA for clarity: the amount we owe in taxes equals 5 weeks of daycare, we're not 5 weeks behind in daycare payments. I think y'all got that, but just in case.

Ugh.... taxes. I haven't started yet but shouldn't be too difficult to pull together. As a business owner I know I'll owe though Hopefully I've been deducting enough from my full-time paycheck to make up at least some of the difference. Self employment taxes are a real TW!
I have yet to do our taxes and I'm really dreading it. With this pregnancy brain, I'm sure my behind would forget the child tax credit or something important like that!
Well, we are so poor that we get a nice hunk of money. But, we require it to live on for the indefinite future. So, not meaning to belittle any sadness. But, I wish we made enough money to get less back with our return. It isn't always a super great thing to get lots of money back, FYI.

@mrsstuessy I don't believe anyone is trying to belittle anyone's situation. I'm sorry if anything I said seemed that way or struck a nerve . As I said I'm happy I don't have to pay in.. my friend I was referring to is not poor by any means, she "plays" the system. There of course are situations where all of us could have it a lot worse, but I don't think anyone here is wrong for feeling disappointed that they're getting less back or owe more than expected.
@HappyAnjel You are right. I felt bad after posting that. It is just disappointing because I remember when we got our return last year thinking it was the last time we would get a "poor person" return and here we are again with basically no income and now almost two children to take care of. *sigh*

@mrsstuessy you have every right to be disappointed with how things are going for you as well. I really hope your luck turns around and your husband finds something great soon. No need to feel bad.. this thread is here for people to vent.
Yesterday we were on our way to the fetal clinic and decided to take the tube instead of taxi, because it's in the city and it would have taken longer in a car in rush hour. I was on edge (understandably...) and so was DH. I got into the carriage, with my "baby on board badge" clearly visible, and spotted two empty seats which had one bag on it each. I went in there and looked at the people sitting next to them and asked them to remove the bags. (why do I even HAVE TO ASK, how rude is that, to keep your bag on a seat in fricking rush hour???). Turns out that both bags belonged to the woman who sat next to them, so she actually took up three seats on her own! she moved one bag but not the other. I sat down and told her to move the other one too. And then she just started talking back to me, without moving the fucking bag!! Things like "calm down, I will move it" - (but she didnt) , and "don't be rude" - I was like, what the fuck?? You take up three spaces and I AM RUDE?? I got so upset I practically told her "just move the fucking bag, stop talking to me". When she still didn't (husband didnt step in apart from saying she should move the bag - and i understand why, if he, as a man, had grabbed her bag or shouted at her, he would have gotten into trouble)), I actually grabbed the bag and shoved it off the seat, then got my husband to sit down there.
What a fucking bitch. Reminds me why I hate london public transport. How can you be so bloody entitled that you take up three spaces and refuse to move even when asked??
Rant over. I got SO triggered. Not proud of losing my temper though

@smallanimal "took the tube" ... Im such a nerd, but I love it! That being said, I don't think you're a bitch at all. That woman was being a bitch! Glad you stood your ground, just really sorry you had to get your blood pressure going over it. Ugh!
@smalanimal things like that happen all the time on my daily commute on the train. It's pretty easy to get on our train system without purchasing a ticket, so we get ALL KINDS of characters. There are always people taking up more space than necessary and then don't move. Thankfully, I'm showing enough that SOMEONE will usually offer me their seat if there are none because standing for 30 minutes would KILL my back.
@KirstinH88 I got to a point that if noone stands up, I just walk up to someone and ask them to let me sit down. Normally on blue seats, which are supposed to be for disabled, pregnant etc.. standing for 30 mins is impossible this late in, I think... hate when people act all entitled.
do you have another option to get into work? I started considering taxis in the mornings, the problem is that public transport take 45 mins and in a car 1.5 hours! comfort or speed...

@smallanimal The mornings aren't usually bad because the crazies aren't awake yet! But the afternoons are horrible. I could have DH drive down and pick me up, but its often more work than its worth (not to mention a waste of gas). So I just suck it up. Normally its not too horrible.
@smallanimal what is this baby on board pass you have?! We spent the weekend in London around Christmas and I must not have been showing enough because no one ever offered me a seat, even when we were on super long tube rides. I have a friend coming to town at the end of feb who will want to go in to the city and I will be 35 weeks and will want to sit on the tube for sure!
My PC and the network are total TW this week. I tried 4 times yesterday to post here and it wouldn't work. It kept freezing up on me and I'd eventually have to close it out. I don't know what it is, but a few sites are like that for me. That is another reason why I don't post as much. I can't even get in half the time.
(i disagree with the article though, i think they are super useful - and its nice to spot a fellow pregnant lady and exchange a smile, too)
you put it on and people know you are pregnant, not "just fat", or even really early on when it is not showing. There were some episodes of men offering their seat to women who looked pregnant, and the women got upset because they weren't just fat around the stomach. Hence the idea was born. I think it is particularly useful in the first tri when you dont show, or in the winter when the heavy coat can cover the pregnancy...
you can request one on the TFL.gov.uk website. All you need to do is fill out a form, mine took about a week to arrive. Even with badge, sometimes people dont look/offer so just walk up to the blue seat and ask them!
