@silliegirlie143, hers was diagnosed at around 14-16 weeks...I wonder if that changes anything?  Hopefully it moves...she has an appointment on Wednesday, so we'll see then!

ETA:  apparently if I could read, I'd see you wrote 2nd trimester...which is 14-16 weeks.  Sigh...way too early this morning.

  • @harpyogi it was so eye opening talking to her, especially about daily mantras/affirmations. I told my Doula I was saying them, but they didn't help because I was basically lying to myself (before I canceled my goals). Ultimately, I canceled the goal to "Have a healthy pregnancy". When you say it out loud, it's HEAVY. I was sobbing. But what happened after was so transformative because I gave myself permission to truly let it go. Now when I mantra "I trust my body to do whatever it needs for myself and Chase" I FEEL it, because I actually MEAN it now.
Fx to you. Let me know if you want anymore info. It's been insanely helpful this week.

  • I had my first bpp this morning. She scored perfect 8/8. Huge sigh of relief! I'm also 24 weeks today! Yippee!!
  • Great news, @maybaby23 and @MotherofDragons

No news on this end - regular ob visit (and GTT) next week, and my first growth scan the week after. I've definitely "popped" which makes me optimistic that the little guy is still growing normally, but only an ultrasound will really tell!
    Me 37, DH 40
    BFP #1 6/13 DD 3/14
    Mirena 10/14-5/16
    BFP #2 9/2/16, CP confirmed 9/8/16

  • I had my regular OB appointment and he was going through the anatomy scan results from the high risk doctor. He asked if they mentioned my umbilical cord was a little to the side and asked why they wanted me to get weekly nonstress tests starting at 32 weeks instead of 35 weeks. They mentioned neither to me. I especially worry about the cord because DD had a knotted cord and that was her major issue. I think he is too since he is the doctor who saved her after that after MFM missed it. I am on high alert anxiety about it now.

  • How far along are you?  25+5

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
    Gestational hypertension/borderline pre eclampsia

What's the potential impact on you / baby? Baby: low birth weight, underdeveloped, problems with the placenta. Me: increased risk or heart attack, stroke and others. Preterm labour

What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting? I will be receiving ultrasounds almost every week, plenty of blood and urnie tests and weekly prenatal appointments

Any issues in previous pregnancies? first pregnancy so nope!

    GTKY: Favorite holiday?
Christmas! Love the lights with the snow and cheer and general happiness!
  • @krex Any news from last week's appt? I'm hoping you all get some word that it's on the move.

I have a MW appt tomorrow and we will review the fetal echo (which came back great) and my U/S which lead to the dx of the 2 placenta issues. Not really sure what to think about them at this point. And it SUCKS having to wait another month to see if there's any progress!!

Last week's appointment was apparently  just a wellness appointment.  She has a scan on 3/9 where we'll hopefully learn something.  So...by that point, she'll be...26 weeks, plus a few days.

How far along are you? 26 weeks + 6 days

Why are you considered high-risk / getting increased monitoring?
    My cervix is short.

What's the potential impact on you / baby?
I have been on strict bed rest since 2/7 and have to take progesterone pills vaginally every day. I am suppose to stay off my feet as much as possible to avoid having a premature delivery (although I think the baby would survive in NICU if it does come early). No working out, no housekeeping or sex. My job is forcing me take maternity leave now, so my paid time off will likely be depleted by the time the baby comes.

What type of additional testing, monitoring will you be getting?
I have to have a new ultrasound every week to measure the cervix. I went to the hospital once for 48 hours. They gave me steroid shots to ensure that the baby's lungs would be strong enough if it came early. That's where I learned what a bed pan was for the first time!

    Any issues in previous pregnancies?
I never tried to have a baby before.

    GTKY: Favorite holiday?
Dia de Los Reyes! The Day of the Kings on January 6th. We eat Mexican sweet bread and have a feast for this tradition.

For anyone dealing with anxiety, have you tried going to accupuncture? My midwife & OB said it would be okay to continue accupuncture sessions even though I am on bed rest as long as I choose a new spot near home. I use to go to a place near my job and would schedule an appointment every other week to treat anxiety about becoming a first - time parent (mainly), constipation (which went away), and promoting healthy baby movement. I am really hoping that accupuncture will help me have a smooth delivery, they'll place needles on my back at week 36 (if I make it that far), to help position the baby in a good delivery position.

Anyway, today is my first accupuncture appointment after being on bed rest for nearly a month, so I am really looking forward to it. Also, I will start to see my therapist again after taking a two year break. Mental health is important. Charlierose.com has a Brain Series which speak of the importance of nurturing a baby/child in a low-stress environment and the impacts that has on your kid when they grow up. The more secure a child feels, the easier it is for them to brush off stress down the road.
  • @LC we are in the same boat. I hope we both keep these babies cooking as long as possible
  • I am thinking of all you ladies on bed rest. That must be so difficult. Keep those babies cooking!
