Confession: I just started watching Grey's Anatomy for the first time a few weeks ago. Thanks for the spoiler alert! JK, I realize I'm years behind.
I love glass containers and have been slowly collecting pieces as we go here. I haven't read It Starts With the Egg yet, but will probably add it to my list.

By the time you get to that point in Greys, Shonda has already obliterated your soul a dozen times.

@Saralee797 My RE recommended I take up to 600 mg of coq10 each day and I recently switched to ubiquinol which (if I understand this right) is what coq10 becomes when absorbed by the body.
@hartmich@adirat I also asked RE about DHEA and he had me taking 25 mg 3 times a day and then told me to stop when I started on the stims.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
Clomid 50mg and trigger shot
How are things going?
Things are a little frustrating right now. Last month I had two large follicles (28 & 30) when I had my LH surge on day 15. This month is completely different. On Feb. 2 I only had one decent sized follicle on the left side (11mm) and I went back on the 6th to check on things. That time the follicle on the left side was 9mm??? and I had two on the right side (13mm & 14mm). My RE didn't do the ultrasound this time and the nurse was having a hard time getting measurements for my left side. Shesaid it was tilted and pressed against my uterus. I'm assuming that she just didn't get a good angle for measuring, but she went on and explained that if they don't reach 18mm by the time I ovulate then they're basically no good. I go back again tomorrow (day 15) to see if we're any closer. Sadly I have drill this weekend for the national guard which takes up all of my day and I get home late so it's going to make things a little difficult if they have me do the trigger shot around then. Right now I'm just hoping that they grow enough.
Any questions? Has anyone else had the follicles "shrink"? GTKY: what's your favorite color?
I looked back at the book about DHEA. It says, Even though DHEA is sold over the counter as a nutritional supplement, it is actually a hormone so you should talk to your fertility specialist before taking it. You should not take DHEA if you have PCOS or certain cancers.
For me -- it took me more than a year to get my hypothyroidism under control so I avoid anything that might mess with it. Thus I decided not to try DHEA. The Mayo Clinic specifically notes that it can affect thyroid levels: https://www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/dhea/safety/hrb-20059173
I keep the ubiquinol on my Amazon list and check the price daily, and wait for the price to drop to $28-29 and then plan on buying it then. It did drop to $29 yesterday and I forgot to buy it and now today it is back up to $35... boo...

Yesss @adirat Even though these things are readily available to us, and even though it is tempting to self medicate, I think it's really unwise to just start taking handfuls of different stuff (definitely not saying anyone here is doing that). I was on Vitex for a while, but then I learned that it can actually counteract fertility meds like Clomid and Femara. Vitex can also stay in your system for a long time, so even if you stop taking it now it will linger for a while. Even though things like Vitex and DHEA can be purchased without a prescription, you still have to be so careful. Always ask your RE before you take something.
Thanks for all the love ladies! IUI done! My cervix was being slightly problematic but they were able to get it done without busting out the tenaculum, Hallelujah!

@wabash15 Yayyyyyyyy So happy that your IUI went well. I feel ya on having cervix problems. Apparently I have a "shy" cervix as well and that definitely makes the whole process more miserable. I'm sending you lots of good sperm meets egg vibes!!!
@adirat I get Ubiquinol from Costco, $35 a bottle. Is Trader Joe's cheaper? There isn't a TJ's near me so I have to make a special trip but I will do it for cheap meds! Plus all the cheese and deliciousness of TJs.

@adirat Ah, I guess when I saw DHEA was a no-no for PCOS, I stopped reading about it haha. Also, I was browsing through the folder my RE gave me this morning because I was looking for the sheet about rubella, and I noticed that under the "diet" section, they recommend reducing or avoiding soy for everyone. I know this has been quite the feat for you and now I'm scared!
@hartmich The plus side is that once you've avoided soy for a little while and found replacements for the things you miss, it isn't as hard anymore. I ended up finding an avocado oil-based mayo (my parents sent it to me from Costco actually), soy-free chocolate chips, soy lecithin-free vitamins, all sorts of substitutes. You just have to look. It's more doable than I thought at first!
@eggplantface What's the size of the bottle? It's $20 for a 1-month supply for two people/2-month supply for one person at TJ's.
200mg, 90 pills. So, if I did my math correctly, 90 Trader Joe's pills would be $30 (assuming a 2-month supply is 60 and it's the same mgs), so $5 cheaper. I'll take a look next time I get to a TJs.
The soy thing annoys me. Because I put soy sauce on my frozen veggies. Ugh. Without it this is me:

Yeah -- I do really, really, really miss Chinese and Japanese food.
I have started making Thai food at home, which uses fish sauce instead of soy sauce. It isn't the same obviously, but it helps satiate my urge for takeout. (My husband sometimes gets sushi without me now too )
Soy is definitely not recommended but I think moderation is key TBH. If you cut soy out elsewhere where it definitely isn't needed, having soy sauce with your food occasionally isn't going to do you much harm.
Soy is especially negative in males since it can act estrogenic and can harshly impact sperm count/quality. We try to buy soy free tuna (which is difficult to find and alway x2 the price), etc but I do cook with soy sauce sometimes.
LFAF February Siggy Challenge - "Favorite TV/Movie Couple"
My endocrinologist recommended avoiding soy always. But I sometimes eat soy during AF because CD1 = fuck it all. I never eat anything with soy during my luteal phase, though. If you want to ease into it, the staggered approach may be worth trying.
@Everycol0r H rarely eats soy sauce, so that's a plus.
On the plus side, I've cut down/out most refined carbs because I read they're bad for PCOS and I am finalllllllly seeing the scale go down instead of up. But, I miss bread.
@saralee797 Right, tamari is a different kind of soy sauce without wheat in it, but it's still soy.
@hartmich I haven't gotten the diet chapters of It Starts with the Egg yet, but I know it's going to say "eat less pasta" and my Italian husband is going to think it's criminal. We also love our carbs.
@adirat Oh, on CD1 all bets are off. I have all the caffeine I want. Because screw. You. Ute.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) This is probably our last cycle just on the progesterone after O. Then moving on to Clomid next cycle. I added a few more homeopathic treatments in this month (CoQ10, Royal Jelly, acupuncture).
How are things going? Ok, I have my ups and downs. DH and I are just really trying to remember to communicate with each other whenever we're having a down day (which is mostly me, he's so calm about everything). Otherwise it can get bottled up and then blows up into a huge fight during FW. And that is never fun. I just keep trying to look forward and remember that this is (hopefully) a season and that we're doing everything we can and have a solid plan to bring us our end result.
Any questions? To those who have used cups after sex, how does that work? Do you use menstrual cups, like the diva cup? Aren't you worried about a UTI or yeast infection? How long do you leave it in after sex?
GTKY: what's your favorite color? Hmm..I don't think I have one

It just sucks though and I wish it wasn't so difficult. That's exciting about your elopement! Sorry OH was laid off though.
@TravelingCouple I've never used a cup, but from what I understand it doesn't have any effect. The good sperm will already be on their way by the time you get it in, so you're really just holding dead sperm inside your vagina.

Hi gang - I have an update to report. ER is scheduled for 8:30 Friday morning. My u/s report showed FIVE measurable follicles which I realize would be terrible news for most people but I thought I would go in with only three so I'm happy. The youngest two are still very small but they have a couple of days to grow and I am willing them to catch up.
Boston is expecting a big snowstorm tomorrow so I will likely have the opportunity to rest all day tomorrow in preparation. I'm sure I will be on here all day tomorrow freaking out.
