  • Definitely touch bases with your doctor/midwife asap, they'll be the experts in how much is too much. Keep an eye on your weight and do your best to find ways to stay hydrated. My mom threw up for 9 months straight with me and only gained 8 pounds. I'm still here and healthy 34 years later so you can throw up a lot and be okay, but these days there are more options to try and find you relief. What have you tried so far?
  • My Dr said "if it is impacting your food/fluid intake for more than a couple of days" to call...

  • Call your OB/ midwife now.  If you have to ask and you're constantly in the bathroom, it probably means you're throwing up too much.  Try to drink as much as you can to stay hydrated, and if you're having symptoms of severe dehydration, head to the ER as soon as possible.

  • I only actually produce any throw up about 2x a day but its the feeling of it lingering that keeps me near the bathroom all day..heaving etc. Thanks, I will call my ob tomorrow am. I tried diclegis for a week but came off it since it made me sooo tired amd still threw up 1x a day. I think im going to have to go back on it. I havent weight myself in a couple weeks..i will definitely do that and see. I still havent had my first appt, going for a US Tuesday. I read about severe dehydration and i dont have the symptoms but im just so blah..thanks ladies will keep in check

If you're able to keep down some food and fluids, they'll probably restart the Diclegis but throwing up in pregnancy is normal. I threw up through my entire pregnancy with DS and I didn't even have HG. Hopefully your symptoms will ease off once the placenta starts taking more of the hormonal load from your body.

The most important thing is to always have water with you. Take small sips literally as often as possible. You can also try home remedies like ginger or ginger candies (I link Gin Gins by The Ginger People.) You can also get pressure wrist bands from any pharmacy or target.

    Feel better!

*eta- You can try adding some lemon juice to the water if it makes it easier to drink. And flat Gingerale

I have been having a hard time keeping food and liquids down as well, I can go for about 15-30 minutes if I am lucky at this point. I have lost close to 10 pounds and didn't exactly have a lot of weight to lose in the first place (thats the most humble way I can think to say that) they told me as long as I was keeping it down for a little I was okay.

I would definitely recommend calling your OB but don't panic either! They told me that it was really normal and to just keep my fluids up and make sure I keep my prenatals down. Eating goldfish/saltines/trail mix throughout the day has really helped me. As well as popsicles and smoothies to get nutrients in and soothe my gag reflex. I couldn't take the Diclegis either they upped my dosage and I slept through work 2 days in a row, bossman wasn't thrilled with me.

Trader Joes also has great ginger candies that might help you. They help me sometimes when its just the nausea.
