TTC after 35

Introduction

Hello - I am a 37 year old mother of 2 who has been TTC for the past 12 months.  We had a miscarriage in March 2016 at 5 weeks and have been at it ever since.  I just need some other mama's to talk about this with.

My older kids are 6 and 3. My 6 year old daughter was born October 2010. My son will be 4 in April.  They are great kids and both of them would love to have a new baby in our family.

Re: Introduction

  • Hello and Welcome!  I have an almost 6 year old DD and we've been TTC since June 2016 with a chemical pregnancy in December.  We had the basic fertility testing in December all but my progesterone.  I'm getting that checked next month.  I've decided to get off the BSC train.  We are basically going to keep having sex but not put all the stress of tracking, charting, opks for the remainder of our year which is 4 more months.  At that point I will want to try clomid and see how that goes - if need be IUI but we can't afford IVF.  I hope we all get our BFPs soon.

  • fingers crossed for BFP's soon!

I did all the testing back in August/September and everything came back looking good for me.  My doctor suggested acupuncture. I tried that for 3 months and it was getting expensive and hard to manage the appointments with working full time and having 2 kids at home so I stopped doing that in December.  I am at the point that I would like to try Clomid, but my regular OB won't prescribe it. I would have to go to a fertility specialist and my insurance does not cover that so we are just working with what we've got.  Hopefully something will stick soon!

  • Welcome! I would find a new OB. I had one that refused to give me clomid too and I later found out he was the only one at that practice who wouldn't do it, anyone else would have written me a script. You don't need a RE for that one, so shop around.

FX for a short stay here!

  • Welcome! I'm TTC #2 for over a year now, did our first IUI this cycle with Femara. I agree with the others on finding a new ob if you'd like to try Clomid. Good luck!
  • Welcome    I echo everyone about finding a new ob.  I looked into acupuncture last week.  Unfortunately it is too expensive and I can't afford it.  Hoping for BFPs for all of us !!

  • Thanks everyone. I had a gut feeling that it was time to start shopping for a new OB so if this cycle doesn't produce what we're hoping for, I will try a different one.  I'm glad to know that I don't have to see a specialist for that sort of prescription.  Here's hoping we won't need it though....
