Even if you don't plan to register at Target, or even if you're not having a baby shower (like me), be sure to register in-store (quick, painless process), and receive your free mommy grab bag! I think it's the best it's ever been. YES!  Buybuybaby (I'm in Arizona so this could be a regional store, it's Bed Bath & Beyond's baby store) does the same thing.  I'm creating my registry on Amazon, but I filled one out for both Target and Buybuybaby just for this! I haven't been to BBB yet, but I can add a picture of the swag when I get it

Last time I liked Targets better than BBB. I thought BBB gave a lot of cheap samples and nothing else!

This is great! Thanks for sharing!  I found Buy Buy Baby's registry to be sub par, because you only got a 10%off coupon for completion. Seems silly since you can use bed bath and beyond 20%off coupons!

Babies r us has a great program too that gives you a percentage of all purchases as cash back after the baby is born. It's great getting that gift card in the mail for a few hundred bucks after baby is here to buy stuff you may have not gotten!

You should also keep an eye on amazons welcome box.  I got one in early Jan, but I dont know if they still have them now.  You just have to "complete" your registry and buy something off of it for 10 bucks.  It was totally worth it (I dont have a photo), but it came with a toy and bottle, swaddler, and a bunch of other good things.

I really liked Babies R Us registry, the rewards on it were great and I believe we had a good gift bag as well when we signed up.    We did register for BuyBuyBaby, but the BRU had better/ cheaper and more options.  That's just the one that was near us, though, I can't vouch for other BBB.

My Target was out of gift bags last time I was there.  They told me to call ahead very early Monday and they will set one aside if they have them.  Guy explained it's crazy they can't keep them in stock.  They run out as soon as they come in.

What @littlebug2010 said. It was kind of a pain complete in general the registry until I discovered you could manually check off items, but the box is really great!  I just got mine yesterday so they are definitely still giving them out.

@taylormarie923 Did you get the same items as littlebug? I just ordered mine a few days ago and it will be here on Monday. I'm hoping to get one of the cute muslin swaddles too. DH has a prime account (I did not know we had two accounts...ugh) and ordered one as well.

I was totally gonna say worth it to register for the completion coupons too!!! Sucks for number two or more that people don't think you need shit but now I have to furnish an entire second nursery. Can't reuse anything because DS is still using it all. Damn kids are pricey!

This is a silly question, do they check your ID or anything at target or buy buy baby? I want to send my SIL or mom to register for me so I can get a free bag too lol

I looked online and Walmart offers a baby welcome box too. You can order it online and they ship it to you.
You've gotta use a computer or "request desktop site" on chrome and it'll pop up. I know walmart isn't Target but it's free so:

They don't ask for ID. Your SIL could simply say it was for herself. I guess they don't have Targets in Germany? I'm definitely checking out the Walmart goodie bag, thanks for the link!

No they don't have Target here   they tried to bring walmart over here some time ago but I guess it failed pretty miserably. So far we haven't found much one stop shopping here.

I registered everywhere even though only Babies R Us and Target mentioned for my baby shower. 
I'm not expecting a baby shower this time but will do the same this time. The coupons and gifts and such help make any of those big purchases needed.

If you haven't created a registry at BRU yet, sign up for a registry event.  I got an awesome swag bag with 3 baby bottles, a breast feeding kit, pacifiers, wipes and LOTS of coupons!  They even do a raffle at those events too.  I was the only person to sign up, so I automatically won a pack of pampers and 2 packs of wipes.

They also take BBB coupons annnndddd they have lay away.  

Yeah i am crushing on BRU.

Our BRU stopped taking BBB coupons. And that is the day our love affair died.

Amazon delivered my welcome box today. It looks like the winter box is still available! I love the swaddle. It even has picture and written directions on the label, you know, in case you forget how to wrap up your baby from lack of sleep.

Haha...Just finished the a.azon registry and ordered an item.  Sadly it won't let me order the box yet, so assuming item has to ship.

@Lauradi1010 yes it has to ship first! I had the same issue yesterday but was able to go back in today and click on "claim box"

does it matter how many items are on your Amazon registry? can you just do a few or does it have a number? also can you keep it private for the time being?

You can have any number of items. I have about 10. DH has a baby registry on his prime account and has diapers and face wash. The face wash isn't even for baby. He purchased that to get the box. You do have to "complete" the registry which basically means you have to mark each category as finished/complete. 

My registry is private and we will make it public before our shower invites go out.

I just got my Amazon box. Same stuff as PPs - love it. I also signed up for a BRU event in March - sounds great. Planning to stop by Target and Buy Buy Baby to get those bags, too. Thanks for all the tips, ladies!

@mcdoug211 the link that @Nxy posted worked for me. I just had to click "sign up" and fill out a form. Now that I've done that, it's not working. maybe try clearing your cache/history? FYI it said it could take 5 weeks to ship and they'll email you if it takes any longer than that.

ETA: by "not working," I mean that it just brings me to the regular walmart.com homepage now instead of where you can sign up. I'm assuming this is meant to keep you from filling the form out 10+ different times with different names to get more free boxes.

How do you mark stuff purchased? All I can find is how to edit to change the amount requested

I just tried the Amazon thing and you have to join Prime. Bummer- I don't order enough off Amazon to justify that cost. (I order tons of mp3s and ebooks though...)

@DeansGirl14 check out prime reading, the free books make it worth it for me.  Also, ordering diapers and wipes with 2 day shipping is amazing!

Is Prime reading like when you got unlimited reading for $10/mo? I'll look further into it. I tend to buy the $1-$2 books or get best sellers from the library (always after a wait period, oy) so I declined to go forward on the $10/mo thing. But will see how it works out with Prime! 
I have heard that once you have kids and need stuff fast that shipping is excellent ;-)

@DeansGirl14, no, you get free books, as long as they are "prime". It used to be just one, but now it's unlimited. You borrow them and can have up to 10 at a time.
