Re: STM+ check in 2/3
overall I have felt really good. I felt nauseous today but this is really the first time and I hope it's one of the only times! Also...TMI ... I have a HUGE ugly bruised hickey accross my boob and nipple. My husband noticed it and asked what the heck happened to me. He can't believe that it's from him the night before LOL. That has never happened before and he really wasn't rough with me and didn't do anything out of the ordinary, but I guess my blood flow is off the chain. Bleeding gums when I brush too. I was very sick with my other pregnancies so this is completely different.
my first pregnancy I did not have anything for pain relief. I begged for an epidural but it all happened too fast so they said no. Water broke and baby born in 2 hours. Fast but traumatizing lol.
My second child I was induced and I had Demerol and then an epidural. The Demerol made me high but it didn't seem like it touched the pain. The epidural took away all of the pain, but I feel like it slowed down my labor a lot, I hated not being able to move my body, I hated needing help for hours after to go to the bathroom, I hated being hooked up to the IVs and strapped to my bed, I puked as soon as I gave birth to my daughter because the anesthesia made me so nauseous, and I got really bad headaches for weeks I ended up in the ER for migraines.
for this one I'm not sure what I'm going to do. My first one was so painful I don't think I could willingly go with no medication but I really hated so many things about the epidural. I wish there was an in-between. I just found out my hospital is now offering nitrous oxide which apparently is very popular in Europe but not really used here. I've read a couple things online that people say it kind of takes their mind off the pain but it's still very painful. Do any of you have experience with nitrous oxide? It's less potent than the dentist and you just breath it when you need it. I just wish there was a happy medium. I can deal with some of the pain...

With DS I pushed off the epidural until the very last minute I did a ton of walking before so that was amazing and help progressed things along. I was that rare case that has the reaction to it and I felt like my skin was on fire, they gave me benadryl and I passed out for hours. I would do it again. There is so much to worry about during birth and life after that in the grand scheme of things that getting an epidural was fine. Like PP mentioned it sucked not going pee and being able to walk around and it slowed Labour down by a few hours but thankfully I got to rest to store my energy.

I've been having intermittent nausea, especially when I get hungry. I have to pee just about every hour. Lots of food cravings. Some aversions. Ive also been extremely emotional.
Last time I got an epidural on hour 14 of my 15 hour labor. I'd like to try to go without it this time because I didn't like not being able to feel my legs afterward. But I'm going to sign the paperwork that way I at least have the option. I'm also going to try to labor at home until the pain gets intense because as soon as I got to the hospital last time I was basically confined to my bed and it drove me crazy.

nausea but not constant and horrible where it's all I can think about (2nd PG). The nausea is similar to my 1st PG. sciatica, didn't have with my 2nd PG but it was bad with my 1st. Heartburn with all of my PGs, starting to creep up on me with this one already.
got an epidural with my 1st and plan on doing it again. My labor and delivery was textbook, not bad so I feel like this one is going to be hell and I'm so scared. It would be my luck.
Anyone have experience with a really prominent tilted uterus? My DD was a big, long baby at 9lbs and 22 inch long and it really took a toll on my uterus and its tilted pretty severely. So last night was my first appointment (with a new doctor at a new practice, so not familiar much with my situation other than everything we talked about before going to ultrasound) and she couldn't locate the baby. I mean, she was in there for a good 10 minutes moving the wand around and I never even saw my uterus that would have been empty. So she immediately sent me off to the hospital to do a prenatal blood panel and addtl urine testing. She is saying either 1. miscarriage (i've had 0 spotting, no cramping, no nothing) 2. I ovulated differently and baby is not as far along as we think (which I know to be impossible due to when intercourse happened) or 3. ectopic pregnancy. She said she'd call me last night with results, and didn't. Way to start out on a good foot at a new practice.
Anyway, I was reading online last night about tilted uterus's and basically other women going through what it sounds like I am -- wasn't able to locate baby or very difficult to locate, but that they were indeed pregnant. I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience they can share?
Mentally I am feeling good, I'm a pretty spiritual person and it gets me through dark moments like these. If it is a miscarriage, I accept that, and that it wasn't my time to have another and i'm not going to be beat up about it. I'm really hoping the doctor calls me first thing this morning.

Haha, that's funny. Seriously, though, (please don't freak out if you're a FTM, this does NOT happen to everyone) I didn't have time for an epidural, and I was planning on having one. My water broke as I got out of the car at the hospital, and DS was born within two hours. This time, I swear I'm going to be in the hospital and waddling around the moment my first contraction hits. If it gets faster with subsequent babies, I'm in trouble! I was in labor for 10 hrs, from first contractions to birth.
@sugarpixxie2I see you had the same birth experience with your first. I'll be honest, it put me off wanting another kid for a longgg time.
@SugarRush Keeping my FX for you. I don't have any experience with a tilted uterus, but I'm really hoping that's the case for you, that they're just having a hard time finding the baby. Keep us updated on what the blood tests show. I've never had an ectopic, but I would think you would know by now if it was, right?

3 failed epidurals. And a spinal block for her c section. So I'll probably just end up with another spinal block since I'm having another c section.

Slight nausea (no where near as bad as DD, hopefully it stays that way!) sore breasts, decreased appetite. Everything is so different than with DD but I'm not necessarily complaining
Soooo ready for my first appointment/dating ultrasound. I feel like it's taking forever to get here!
I was induced at 39 weeks due to being high risk (circumvallete placenta) and had an epidural. I had a picture perfect birth and delivered less than 9 hrs after starting pitocin. I doubt I'll get that lucky again but I plan on having an epidural this time around as long as I can.
2. Very few symptoms. This pregnancy has been night and day different from my first two. I am so bloated and very tired, though.
3. No questions.
4. I had an epi with my first after being restrained to my back or side in the hospital bed. It was all in all a bad experience and contributed to my struggle with PPD. With my second I had a natural hospital birth. I used a labour tub for the most part, was "wire free", and utilized my doula better for the back labour pain. Had been seeing a chiropractor a couple times a week before giving birth. Just a very different experience. Recovery went mischief smoother and my PPD was way more manageable. I am planning on taking the same approach again with the labour tub, etc.

I was induced at 38+5 last time due to a velamentous cord insertion and my DD's heart rate kept fluctuating. I had a really easy birth...went from zero everything to baby in my hands in 23hrs, only pushed through 5 contractions and had minimal stitches. Like @parker0706 said, doubt i'll get that lucky again! I had the epidural about 10 hours out when I was at a 6...I don't like feeling like I'm not in control of my body so that part sucks but I was able to rest. They back off on it closer to pushing time because I felt that I couldn't push at all...so more like a walking epidural. I did faint on my way to the bathroom after with nurses and one leg remained numb from knee to groin on the top of the leg for 24 hrs...that freaked me out but can be normal. I'm going to go into this one like I did last time...see how I'm feeling and go from there in terms of pain management. I don't need to be a hero but I can put up with SOME of the pain lol

Just the constant annoying hunger that really actually pisses me off, because as soon as I eat, I get stomach pain. It's stupid. Also the way I can't change the text from bold in this response.
Epidural!! I loved my epidural. It actually didn't work for me as well as I was expecting, it numbed only the contractions (which was perfectly fine with me) but I was still able to feel my legs, and the delivery.. and the stitches...
I will do it again!

Im just exhausted and have a wicked sense of smell. With the odd rage episode sprinkled in.
When I was pregnant with my son I don't remember being THIS tired, but I had terrible nausea, awful headaches, heartburn galore (it's why I took a test).
what is with the constant unbearable hunger.
I had had a c section and was given a spinal. Most likely I'll be going this route again.

It's been such a mixed bag. A bit of sore boobs, nausea, heartburn, peeing a lot (this is a relatively new one), spotting, and exhausted. With DS my only symptom was sore boobs. They stayed really sore the whole pregnancy. With this one, it comes and goes and varies in severity.
With DS I tried some pain killer early in labor, can't remember the name. I think it started with N. It didn't do a thing for the pain so I asked for an epidural. I have mixed feelings about it because I think that's what made me feel super tired and doped out. At the time I did what I think was necessary for me to come out of that delivery sane (it was a looooong day and a story I'm totally willing to share if/when it's relevant). This time I'd like to try med-free...but realistically I'm probably going to end up asking for the epidural. I'm a big baby about pain.
Rave- DH is so good to me. He is an amazing hubby. He takes the blame for this nausea willingly lol.
Question.... um.... I guess what REALLY helps you guys get your bowels moving? This severe constipation is the worst feeling in the world and I'll try anything. Stool softeners have never worked for me. My doctors office said I can use mirilax but I'm wary of laxatives.... I've heard eating some kiwis can help..? Anything else guys I'm desperate lol
At first I tried the IV pain meds but the doc told me they had to stop a certain time before delivery so I got scared and wanted the epidural. That got sooooooo messed up that when they took me back for the c-section the anesthesiologist was too scared to try a spinal so they put me under general. Let me tell you it was a special kind of hell recovering from a c-section where you had a tube in your throat. The coughing and breathing tests had me thinking I was dying. I'm probably gonna try no drugs this time if my doc lets me try for a VBAC. But if I HAVE to do a RCS I don't know if they'll want to try a spinal or just do general again. Who knows.

What symptoms are you having? How does it compare to your previous pregnancies?
Not many. A little queasy in the evenings, sore boobs, and definitely a little emotional. Pretty similar to my last pregnancy. Never got super sick, and at this point in that pregnancy I didn't even know I was pregnant yet!
Rant/Rave/Questions?
My husband brought me home a cupcake from his work potluck last night and it was delicious!
GTKY: What pain relief methods did you use for your prior births and do you know what you will do for this one?
I had an epidural. My water broke, but contractions never really started, so I ended up on Pitocin and I just couldn't handle it. I'd be interested in trying without one this time if possible, but not really opposed to another epidural, either.
