Small business owner (music therapy). It's just me in my business (clinician, accountant, head of marketing, etc). I'm currently taking steps to hire an employee so I can take a step back from the clinical aspect of it and can be in a managerial position. I have a home office so it would work out when the baby is born (albeit, I'm not sure how much work I'll actually get done).
Right now it's tough, especially with the symptoms of fatigue and nausea hitting me like a ton of bricks.
June 2017 Siggy Challenge: "You had one job to do!"
@operaghost Mind if I ask what your part time schedule looks like? The only people at my firm who are part time work every day but like from 10am to 3 or 4pm. I don't know if I'd like that or if I'd prefer working normal hours but just 3 or 4 days a week... I'm so looking forward to that transition, I'm planning on announcing my intentions when I get back from maternity leave
I have a Masters Degree in Human Resources - I just took a new job where I will be answering escalated customer phone calls for an insurance company out of my house starting in March. But I also own my own clothing company, I make graphic ( vinyl) clothing, decor items, and headbands.
I'm a jack of all trades - still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up Fiancé and I own and operate a bar/restaurant and I teach group fitness classes here and there. Currently working on my PHD in metaphysics (hippie dippy woo )
I'm a lifestyle photographer ( my own business so I make the schedule) typically I'm a SAHM. I also work a desk job some evenings at my girls dance studio.
I work dispatch for a busy shipping company. We will be opening up a new building this coming August and I'm trying to decide if I should continue with the position I'm in (which I do love, stressful though it is) or make the leap to the managerial position that I'm being mentored for, and then cause havoc when 3 months into the position I go on maternity leave with no one trained to replace me
Me: 41 / Fiance: 35 + One DS, one dog & two kitties...
First BFP: 1/17/16 = EDD 9/21/16 (MMC)
Second BFP: 6/24/16 (CP)
Third BFP: 2/7/17 = EDD 10/20/17 🌈 *** BORN 10/23 *** 🌈
@emwj10187 I'm a singer too! Though I became a teacher six years ago because I was sick of the gigging lifestyle. I'm currently a high school photography, ELL, and Social Studies teacher. It's certainly not my passion, but it allows my family to live a nice lifestyle.
I work FT as a production lead in a food processing plant...Its a job. The 5yr goal is to get into an office position within he company. I am also a Sergeant in the Army Reserves and a half of a LuLaRoe team. I like to keep busy! Thankfully my bosses at all 3 jobs are all cool and understanding about this pregnancy.
Hello! I'm a flight attendant for one of the major us airlines. I'll definitely be returning to work after but I can take up to a year off and plan to do so.
I am doing my PhD full time and do some part-time work on the side in the area of health systems and policy.
Hey, I'm working on my Ph.D. (in clinical psychology) right now too! And teaching and seeing clients on the side. This will certainly be a busy pregnancy!
I'm a family and consumer science teacher. I started teaching middle school for about 3 years before my first and then turned sahm for 4 years had another baby. Recently started teaching again as a culinary arts teacher in a high school. Just found out this weekend I'm pregnant with #3...completely shocked and on edge as I had a loss this time last year.
I'm also a stay at home mom. I have a 2 year old son and am trying to finish my degree for early childhood education. I've wanted to be a teacher since I was 10. The passion for it has only increased over the years.
I am a Clinical Research Associate/"Monitor"/project manager! I travel a lot and am trying to cut back because of radiation when flying overall I love my job just not so much right now!!
@Knottie1466143704 I see you're a flight attendant, I'm not but I'm an AA platinum member so you know, I fly a decent amount for work! My OB said he didn't know of any restrictions for flying (radiation being the concern I have), and that he has never had a flight attendant as a patient so he wasn't 100% sure. Dr. Google is scaring the crap out of me... So I am pretty happy to see that's what you do, maybe you can help me figure it out! Did your OB give any restrictions for flying at all? I am transitioning at work to more local sites, so I won't be on the cross country hauls really at all anymore... but I haven't told them I'm expecting yet. Sorry to threadjack, still figuring out how to message people.
@runningmama22 Flying is totally fine while pregnant as long as your doctor clears it! The radiation really doesn't effect you unless you are doing international (that's when the plane flies at a higher cruise altitude and usually flies closer to the poles). Domestically, you aren't really exposed to much radiation if any at all. Pregnant FAs usually stop flying around 6 months just because the job is so strenuous and can be quite dangerous at times. But from what I understand, you can fly up to 36 weeks as long as your doc and you are okay with it- just keep in mind the pressure on your body increases in the air. We've had pregnant passengers pee themselves, go into labour, or just pass embarrassing gas (not meant to scare you but something to prepare for). I hope that helped a little!
I haven't been to the doctor yet but I will update you on what he says. There's several local doctors near me who deal mainly with FAs so hopefully he'll have some soothing advice for you (:
