you're having shortness of breath or a hard time catching your breath, especially at night. I woke up to pee last night and when I tried laying back down I thought I was going to die. I had to go outside to catch a breath of the cold air. I've had it a couple times before but last night it took me about 30 minutes to calm down and get back to sleep.
I'm 20 weeks.
Thanks ladies, I'm trying not to freak out at every little change my body is going through but if need be I'll call my dr.
Re: Raise your hand if...
I did talk to my doctor about it last week and he told me especially with my asthma it is normal, but I would certainly bring it up to yours.
It is a scary feeling, but when it does happen just try to sit up and relax and take small breaths to calm yourself down.
To make it even funnier, we booked a trip to Hawaii 2 weeks before our BFP, with intentions to do a bunch of hiking and more strenuous hikes. My H has been "training" to keep up with me on them. Yeah, he really doesn't need to. I'll be the one stopping and gasping for air after 5 minutes.

I've noticed that sometimes when I wake up at night and feel like I'm suffocating I've been laying on my bad. Apparently I roll onto my back a lot while I'm sleeping. That seems to make the whole thing worse for me. If you have that problem maybe try putting a pillow behind you to help discourage you from back sleeping.

eta: it's also a pretty common pregnancy symptom as well.
I spoke to my Dr about it during my last appointment and she didn't make a huge fuss over it... told me to prop myself up so I'm slightly inclined and to get up slower. It's something I have been more aware of and working on since that appointment.
