I spent most of my working years as an administrative clerical assistant, secretary, HR admin, etc. Then I changed careers to work on the road with my husband in the environmental remediation industry specializing in the detection and removal/destruction of military ordnance. I left that when we had DD to be a SAHM

So late to this but the last week has been crazy busy. I loved reading about everyone's jobs! Such diverse, interesting group!
After college I went to work for a large insurance company (home & auto) as QA specialist/trainer and then as claims manager for a team of adjusters. Now I'm a SAHM.

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
@JCWhitey wow, can you elaborate? Is it for photo/videography? Light transport? I own two drones and am very interested in the evolution of commercial application.
I teach English as a Second Language to 9-12 graders. I never pictured myself teaching this as my college major was French, but now I can't imagine doing anything else. It's a rewarding, rarely boring job.
I'm an English as a second language teacher as well but to 3,4,5 year olds. I could have NEVER imagined doing this (my degree was earlychildhood with special Ed) but I can't imagine any other way now. I absolutely fell in love with it.

Another Early Childhood! I'm so surprised to see another one on this board as we are far and few between! I think when I graduated there were 18 of us in my graduating class compared to the 700 elementary ed majors graduating!

@hp_momma no definitely not! Mine only had 40 in our class. And we only had 1 class a year. No idea how many elementary Ed had but they had graduating classes Spring summer and winter. So obviously way more than us.
My passion is phonics and early reading skills so I love working with the little ones.

@sarah0985, it seems like EL is something people fall into and are hooked! My major was French Education in college, but when I did a practicum in EL, I added it as a minor and never looked back. I don't think I could switch to French now. Where are most of your students from?

@chailife34 I fly for a vacation rental and real estate company. We sell homes and property to people who can't come here to look in person first, so we do videos so they can get a feel for lot size, location, etc. We also do tourism and promo videos for events. I just finished a promo for a ski resort party and got to fly down the mountain, which was pretty fun.
ETA: we've also done videos of construction projects for loan companies who need to approve a project but don't want to pay to send someone all the way up here. That one will probably grow. I hear construction work is booming these days.

My husband and I are both high school teachers. Having a baby in May is going to be perfect because I can get out of school early and then have the whole summer off without using any extra days.
@kmd1106 I actually live and teach in the United Arab Emirates where all my students are local. It's a dual-language program (Arabic and English) that starts at 3 and continues through grade 12 with aim of being educationally fluent in English. I always imagined I'd do special Ed or at least inclusion but I struggled to find work after graduating. Taught second grade but that year my state laid off 17,000 teacher. (My district was 1,200 including up through 5 year tenured). I looked abroad and had no intention of really liking the ESL aspect nor staying longer than a year. 7 years later and I can't imagine NOT teaching ESL.
