How far along are you? 23 weeks

    How big is baby? Grapefruit

    Any appointments this week? Nope

Symptoms? Some very minor back pains. It hurts to sit on hard surfaces, but it also hurts if I slouch on soft surfaces for too long.

Cravings? Dessert stuff this past week. I ended up eating a lot of chocolate things. I'm trying to take is easy this week.

    Rants/Raves/Questions

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?" In answering this question, I had to think about what would actually be realistically sustainable as my only food source...cause apparently I'm not a creature of whimsy. I'd pick apples, pasta, and chocolate (cause I just can't give that up).

  • How far along are you? 24 weeks! Yay for vday

    How big is baby? coconut

    Any appointments this week? none

Symptoms? @starphish18 I feel you on the back pain. I avoid sitting on the floor at all cost unless I have some cushion to sit on. Otherwise I get horrible sciatic pain as a result. And my upper back hurt more after sitting on the couch for awhile. Just can't win.

Cravings? Sweets. And I have none in the house. Wah.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Kind of in a grumpy mood. DD was a hot mess this morning but I really needed to go to the store. She cried/pouted a few times over little things. I thought okay maybe shes just tired today. She just spent over an hour laying/playing in her bed. She is finally out though so I'm off to nap while I can, and hopefully we're both in a much better mood after!

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?" I also would pick pasta and chocolate! Third one would be cereals.

  • How far along are you? 26 weeks

    How big is baby? Kale

Any appointments this week? none this week

Symptoms? My backache has really decreased since I started sleeping with a bigger pillow between my legs and wearing a support belt a few minutes each day.

    Cravings? mostly sweet stuff lately

    Rants/Raves/Questions

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?" Chicken, apples, and bread

    Any appointments this week
I had one on Monday. It was a quick check up and since everything looked good I was in and out of the doctor's office in about 5 minutes. Baby's heartbeat was strong and right where it is supposed to be :)

    Symptoms
Baby has really been moving lately! It's so fun to feel movements. I've had some lower back pain and restless legs are still a problem.

    Cravings
    Anything with chocolate and donuts.

    Rants/Raves/Questions
I think H realized he messed up last week when he told me he doesn't want to feel the baby kicking. He's been asking me more baby questions this week and even asked me to find some "Dad to be" books for him to read. I found a few different books so hopefully he finds one of them helpful.

Is anyone planning to use a doula or had a doula attend a previous birth? H and I met with a doula and I really like her. H isn't sold on the idea of having a doula at the birth though. Part of his reservation is the doula fee, which is $1000. My insurance won't cover any of that cost either. I think hiring this doula is worth the cost because she has a lot of experience and comes highly recommended. I would love to have a natural birth so having an advocate there to make sure the hospital doesn't try to do something we don't want is very important to H and I. If something unexpected does come up it would be nice to have someone there who can explain everything and help us through an emergency. Thoughts? I've done quite a bit of reading about natural birth, but is there anything else I should read/do to prepare for natural birth if we don't have a doula?

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?"
    Potatoes, chocolate, and bananas.
  • I didn't realize that today was Thursday until I saw this thread. *Sigh* Preggo brain.

    How far along are you
    ? 26 weeks

    How big is baby? Kale

Any appointments this week?  Nope, nothing until the 8th, which is kind of nice.

Symptoms? Just the usual stuff. My work chair is all of a sudden extremely uncomfortable and giving me tailbone pain

    Cravings? SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGAR

Rants/Raves/Questions? I feel like I'm perpetually crabby and need to snap out of it.

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?" I am terrible at questions like this, but I know chocolate would be on the list. Who am I kidding, I'm eating that every day as it is.

  • Looks like we're all craving sweets right now!
  • How far along are you? 23 weeks

    How big is baby? Grapefruit

Any appointments this week? Nope, but I did get a prenatal massage which was really nice!

Symptoms? I think citrus is giving me acid reflux, which sucks because I love mandarins. I went a day without any citrus (fruit or orange juice) and I didn't have any problem. My hips have been killing me at night - it feels like spasms and lasts a few seconds. I am constantly turning to the other side.

    Cravings? Anything peanut butter-related

Rants/Raves/Questions? Already ready to be done with work for a while...I feel like telling everyone, "Not my problem!"

GTKY: Sourdough bread, scones with jam and clotted cream and peaches

For those with sciatic pain or other low back pain, the Pigeon yoga pose was recommended to me by a doula/massage therapist that gave me my prenatal massage yesterday. It's worth a try!

@luckywife10 , I'm hiring a doula this time. I did not hire one the first time as I really didn't know much about them back then. I went to a "Meet the Doula" night earlier this month and met a couple that I really felt comfortable with. I contacted one today and we're scheduling a get together soon to sign the paperwork. It'll be $950, which I'm not thrilled about, but I've read lots of reviews about this group of doulas on my local FB mom's group and every single person has said they felt like the cost was completely worthwhile.

@MiaQuiche84, I had a prenatal massage yesterday! Massages are the best.

How far along are you? 25 weeks

How big is baby? a head of cauliflower

Any appointments this week? My next one is next Tuesday for a regular check-up

Symptoms? A little low back soreness and some hip tightness, which is why I had the massage yesterday. I've also been having a little cramping in my calves during the night

Cravings? I have also been craving sweets like crazy!

Rants/Raves/Questions? Only 15 (ish) weeks to go!!!

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?" Oatmeal (I have it almost every morning for breakfast), cheese, bagels

  • @luckywife10: re your question about doulas: I asked a similar question in the Randoms thread (which has grown exponentially this week!) and I think it's a prime example of a topic that should be its own (easily findable) posting. If you were to copy your question and paste it anew, I don't think anyone would mind, and it'd open the convo up to those of us not on your Thursday board (says me, lurking from Fridays). Just a thought!  :)
  • @museic Yay! I'm glad the hole is taken care of!
  • I am 26 weeks and baby is the size of a head of kale!

I had sudden bleeding Tuesday evening so into the hospital I went. Doctor said I had a minor placental abruption. Monitor showed I had contractions but I didn't feel any of them. I got to go home Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. We have determined I have been doing too much & need to slow down. I have been put on bed rest until Sunday evening. I sure didn't want to do that. I missed the 100th Day of school (I'm a teacher) and a baby shower my aunt was having for me this weekend (6+ hr drive away). But my baby comes first (and my own health) so I'm prepared to ask for as much help as possible from now on. Fortunately my girl showed no signs of distress during any of that! And u/s tech said she weighs 2 lbs. :-) My family & I said that although we wish I hadn't have had to do that, it was a trial run! Haha. It was my first ever hospital stay (other than being born haha), first IV, etc.

I have an appt on Thursday. It was going to be the gestational diabetes test appt, but now it's a follow-up from my hospital stay. I was given steroids & my doctor said it could give me a false positive on the GD test, so I'll do that later.

GTKY: I think I would eat buttery biscuits, fried deer steak (sorry if that grosses anyone out--I'm from the South lol), & buttery mashed potatoes  if I could only eat 3 things every day!
  • @n&a0630 Yikes, that's scary, but I'm glad everything is OK now.
  • Thanks; yes, it was very scary!! I suppose I should have added a *TW* to that. Sorry, slipped my mind.
  • n&a0630, so glad you and your baby are OK! Sorry that you had to go through all that!!

    How big is baby
    ?? According to @march2008 it's the head of a califlower, I guess. :)

    Any appointments this week
not for another couple of weeks

    Symptoms
Just regular SPD stuff. This morning we did the DTD -- a rare event for us but I was feeling it (I'm always most turned on at like 6am, sorry DH), and my hips popped. That sucked but I very much enjoyed the sex, as did DH. And he went back to sleep. ;-)

    Cravings
sweets / chocolate / junk food all the way

    Rants/Raves/Questions
    not at this time :)

GTKY: I apologize in advance if this makes anybody hungry but "If there was only 3 things you could eat everyday, what would they be?"
This kind of question is hard because probably a lot of our favorite foods we'd get sick of. Probably my answer is chocolate of some kind (especially if I could rotate the kind), pasta (I do eat it a lot), and maybe even fage yogurt (I do eat this nearly every day!)

  • @n&a0630 I hope everything is ok!

LOL, I just read through these and saw everyone else loves sweets, chocolate, pasta. ha

One thing I think people (moms) say they're addicted to is wine and every pregnancy I remind myself that although I love drinking, I can totally do without it. I have had some sips of alcohol but mostly it's been beer.
