I have had awful awful heartburn in both of my previous pregnancies and I managed it with Tums and/or Zantac. As per those pregnancies, it's starting to ramp up again. It hasn't quite been daily yet so I haven't started keeping Tums in my purse (I don't get it EVER when not pregnant!) and I was out last night with friends and no one had any on them. But one of my friends went around asking for me and couldn't locate any but she came back with a peppermint LifeSaver and said, "this is all I could find you!". I assumed she was just being funny and assumed it would do nothing but I ate it anyway and it actually worked really well! Like, almost as well as Tums! I had known that peppermint can soothe stomachs but I had no idea it was a heartburn remedy. I cannot believe I never discovered it in previous pregnancies!
Anyway, I still prefer Tums because they also contain calcium, but I thought I would share in case you ever find yourself in a pinch! So many restaurants have those LifeSavers at the host stand.

I'm dealing with some awful lower back pain the past few days. I had back surgery when I was in high school, and often have back pain during the winter with the weather/barometric pressure changes. So I don't know how much is pregnancy related, what is from the nor'easter coming tonight, or if my normal back pain is exacerbated by the pregnancy. Either way, it's pretty debilitating right now. About to go lay down with a heated aromatherapy pillow to try to calm it down.
the heartburn is still going strong, it usually hits right around bedtime.
@awillis13 I get heartburn/acid reflux at night. I have to watch what I eat after like 3 or 4pm so it's not as bad. I also started taking zantac twice a day (oops, forgot it this morning!) and I sleep on 2 pillows. Other than that I feel pretty normal! My lower back starts to ache if I stand or walk around for too long.
I have something that feels like a mix between heartburn and nausea. I wake up with it and it continues for a few hours. Coffee makes it worse. I get it back at night sometimes. Hate it. I just feel gross.
Have any of you guys (especially those of you who wear glasses or contacts) experienced worsening eye sight? I realized today that my left eye seemed to be a bit off. When I told my doctor a few weeks ago that I was getting headaches, she mentioned that I might want to have my eyes checked because pregnant women's prescription can change. (I wear glasses everyday). Anyone else experience this?
@tjvan that's a very good point... contact/glasses wearer here. Not sure it's the cause of this headache as I woke up with it yesterday (Sunday). But I have thought a few times that things seem blurrier at times.
@tjvan my BIL is an optometrist and my eyes got worse last pregnancy... from talking to him about it, it is normal so it could be causing your headache
Your eyes can definitely change during pregnancy. When I was pregnant with DD I couldn't wear contacts at all. This time around I can still wear them, but I get frequent headaches that I am pretty sure come from eye changes.

I wear contacts. I went to the eye doc in December and my prescription changed a little. I've mostly noticed extra dry eyes and I can't sleep in my contacts anymore.. I used to be able to go weeks. This whole taking them out every night thing is the worst.

You sleep in contacts?! I have never been able to do that! I think my eyes are more dry as well. I have to take them out earlier than I used to. It could also be the different brand of contacts I got right before I got pregnant. Either way dry contacts are the worst. One time I had one stuck to my eye and it took me like 20 tries to get it out!
@alm52386 Yep. I was able to sleep in the for at least a week. I would just put some contact solution in my eyes when they seemed dry and all was fine - and I told my eye doc and he didn't seem to care. I did switch contact brands so that might have something to do with it, too. Either way its annoying.
I feel like I have a hostile truce going on with the constipation. It's not unbearable, but it feels like it's not going anywhere either. Starting to feel tried of it.
This week started to notice some of those infamous pregnancy emotions and tears at the drop of a hat. It was so ridiculous that I started laughing mid-cry, along with DH. Sigh.
And the most annoying (for me) - crazy pregnancy dreams. Commented on this in my ticker change last week, but every night it's like some terrible thing happening. Someone dying. Someone lost. Despair. Not nightmare-like, but super unpleasant. The only silver lining is that I'm still sleeping at least and I often feel baby kicks as I'm falling asleep and sometimes a few times in the early morning
On a positive, no headaches or heartburn! I play for team nausea loyally though, apparently, as I push 21 weeks!
Is anyone dealing with Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction in pregnancy? My pelvic area is killing me and I'm looking for some relief. I have an appt next Thursday, but figured I'd ask here in the mean time.
Someone talk me down from this breech baby ledge. It's still early, right?
Totally still early! But I would definitely check out spinning babies.com and try some of the stretching and exercises. Chiropractor can also help.
I found out my first was breech at 32 weeks when I had some preterm labor. We never got her to flip and I had a csection at 39 weeks due to high blood pressure and still breech . But I know people that have had babies flip at 40 weeks!
@Mother0fDragons my daughter was breech for a bit early on like this and turned herself around on her own. I had no issues with a vaginal delivery with her!

I feel like I'm getting more constipated as time goes on which is super annoying and uncomfortable. The dreams are also getting more life-like...rather than having just a bunch of random disjointed dreams, the dreams lately have been like full movies playing out. So real feeling.
I'm not looking forward to my next weigh-in at my 20-wk appointment. I feel like over the last week I've really popped out and am carrying much more weight in the bump.
But on a super exciting note, I've been feeling a lot of movements over the last few days! I'll be 19 weeks on Thursday. I can't wait for the flutters/taps/movements to be strong enough for my hubs to feel from the outside too.
@MotherofDragons my situation may be rare but Baby A's position dictated my options for labor/delivery of my twins. I kid you not, he was flipping every week to a different position from 32 to 36 weeks... so it's definitely possible! We went from vertex --> frank breech --> oblique--> footling breech --> vertex...
@heath313 - yes to the sacroiliac dysfunction. I've been seeing a chiropractor twice a week and it's helping. I still have a lot of wrap around hip pain, but it's more reactive to certain movements and positions rather than constant and producing consistent pain. Sorry you're dealing with that:(
@Mother0fDragons - I'm in the same position as you, found out last week at my A/S (20 weeks) that baby is breech. After some reading and talking with the doctor and my chiropractor the consensus is that it's definitely not an issue at this point. When I asked the doctor how likely it is for the baby to turn before L/D she said 100% (obviously there are exceptions, but hopefully that gives some context that it's still early!)
The reflux is awful here. I was fortunate enough to not have much morning sickness but now I feel like I'm paying for it... I gag at a lot of things and am vomiting a few times a week. Trying to stay on top of Zantac because it does make a difference.
im feeling movements which is exciting and crazy weird!

Constipation Afternoon nausea has been replaced by random heartburn Day 2 of a headache I'm having trouble catching a good breath at night (especially after I eat dinner). I need to sit up super straight or it's uncomfortable. The first time it happened I had a panic attack thinking I was dying. I've since figured out I'm not dying haha! Whew!
@Mother0fDragons I'm right there with you. DS was frank breech on top of all our other issues. This little dude was sitting happily feet down. LOTS of time for that to change! I'm worried too...but my OB reassured me she's even had babies flip at 38-39 weeks on their own!
I'm having a weird sharp pain in my lower right abdomen which is now traveling up the middle of my belly each time I move, clear my throat, cough...ect. It's freaking me out so I've put a call into my Dr. Gahhhhhh! (I don't have an appendix or gallbladder so I know it's not that!).
Another breech baby so far over here. No one seemed concerned, but she was the same way at my 14 week scan so I'm hoping this isn't her position of choice... Hooefully our babies will all flip over in the next 15-20 weeks.
@Mother0fDragons, I will confirm tomorrow, but I suspect LO is breech too, simply based on movements, but I just asked my BFF about her c/s. She told me to chill, there's plenty of time for them to turn. Clearly, you and I are two peas. We can commiserate together over breech babies and anterior placentas.
@sparrow I asked my MD about tailbone pain yesterday and he said losening of the ligaments and changing of the center of gravity in your pelvis are to blame. I type this while sitting on a special memory foam tailbone pillow that just arrived via Amazon today. So far it seems like it was well worth $25!
@MKRLTX - thanks! I asked my chiropractor about it and he also mentioned that rolling my hips under me, versus sitting more on my sit bones is part of the issue. Will check out the pillow which probably helps with that positioning!
@jennas312 same! I just ate an absurd amount of cheese and crackers and a bowl of broccoli for dinner. I'm already thinking about what I'm going to have for my snack in like an hour. I've been SO hungry.
I got mine at a medical/prosthetic supply place. They billed my insurance 122 bucks for it. It has a custom shaped back piece to support my back. It's a total of three pieces. They put me in a large since we still have 4 months to go. This is the brochure and upc label from the bag it came with.
I don't know if mine qualifies as tailbone pain but my butt hurts so so bad when I'm sitting. In the car, at work, eating dinner, I'm always shifting my weight around in my chair. I'm almost ready to carry a pillow around with me
Thanks for the reassurance, ladies! Glad to hear there is time. I've read activities to do to encourage a head down position and I already do a lot of those daily, I may throw an inversion in there to freak out my husband.
Besides wanting to avoid a c-section these kicks to the bladder/cervix are not my fave. Get your foot out of there, kid!
