Re: mother's rings

  • For Mother's Day, DH gave me a band that has alternating rubies and diamonds in it (DS's birthstone is ruby).  It was meant to be worn on my right hand, but one day I stacked it over my wedding and engagement band and really liked it, so that's how I always wear it now.

  • great post, i'll be reading the replies. this is something i'd love to do when we're done having kids (probably after this one).

  • rubies and diamonds on your right hand or with your wedding and engagement band sound lovely.

  • My mother has a simple gold ring that has my birthstone, her birthstone, and my father's birthstone. My birthstone is amethyst and the jeweler used a plum sapphire in it's place because it's a harder stone.

My mother and her 6 siblings had a gold pin made for my grandmother because of her severe arthritis. The pin was shaped like a painter's palette with the children's bs in the place of the paint and the grandparent's bs were the brush part of the paint brushes.

  • I have a white gold band (looks like a wedding band) but has Blue Topaz and diamonds on the front of it.. not totally around...(5 diamonds and 5 blue topaz).  I wear on the right hand because my engagement ring and wedding band have blue sapphires.
  • I got a channel set diamond band that matches my wedding band (except my wedding band has princess cut diamonds and this one has round) and I wear it on the other side of my wedding band. My e-ring has DH's name and our wedding date engraved in it, and this ring has DS's name and his birthday engraved,

Oh - and I bought it myself for my first mother's day. I figured I deserved to give myself a nice gift :)

  • i'm not a fan of my son's birthstone so my fingers are being reserved for the diamond right hand ring i hope dh will buy me someday soon (not likely, but a girl can dream).  once dc#2 is born i will start dropping extremely obvious hints for charm bracelet or necklace with both kids' birthstones.  by extremely obvious hint i mean pick it out or design it and then have dh buy it :)
  • I decided to do two stackable rings, one for each child and wear them together on my right hand.  They are delicate.  My ds, since 1st born has a diamond band with his birthstone in the center.  My dd, 2nd born, has less diamonds with 2 birthstones so they interlock.
