  • How far along are you? 22 weeks

How big is baby? Coconut (must be a tiny one)

    Any appointments this week? Nope

Symptoms? Not much. Occasional RLP. I have had a couple nights where I didn't sleep well, because I kept waking up and having trouble falling back asleep. Don't enjoy that.

Cravings? All the things this week...Oreos, cheese, Mexican food, green olives, FOOD.

Rants/Raves/Questions? Not really, more just that I'm getting so excited for this LO! I keep browsing baby clothes for deals and have picked up a few things when I can find them for under $2 a piece.

GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure movie (you know it's bad, but you love it anyways)? First one I can think of is "17 Again" with Zac Efron, Leslie Mann, and Matthew Perry. It's sooo bad, but I bought it from Blockbuster (remember when that existed?) for a dollar or so on clearance, and I watch it at least once a year. It gets the feels going.

  • @starphish18 I love 17 again!

How far along are you? 25 weeks
    How big is baby? cauliflower
    Any appointments this week? none
Symptoms? major back ache in the mornings when I get out of bed.
    Cravings? oranges and cucumbers
Rants/Raves/Questions? I never really dealt with backache in previous pregnancies, so I am wondering if the pregnancy belly belts are any good. Has anyone used one?
GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure movie (you know it's bad, but you love it anyways)? I have 2 guilty pleasure movies. For drama, I love The Family that Preys and I watch it every time it's on TV. For feel good happy movie, I love Bring It On.

    11.2011 - DS1

    06.2014 - DS2

    10.2015 - loss at 12 wks

    03.2017 - DD

  • I am 25 weeks and baby is the size of a cauliflower. No appts this week. Backache & trouble sleeping. Craving a homemade cupcake tonight. Didn't get one.

I will really have to think about my guilty pleasure movie. I like a ton of movies. I will have to decide what movie other people would consider bad, haha.

I have an appt next week!

    Symptoms
Lower back pain after prolonged standing. However, standing helps keep the restless legs at bay when I sit or lay down for too long.

    Cravings
Cereal, chocolate cereal, shrimp, pasta, chocolate milk, and Skittles. I don't normally eat candy (other than chocolate) so I have no idea why I want Skittles all the sudden.

    Rants/Raves/Questions
I had a really good conversation with one of my supervisors today about getting babies to sleep. My supervisor was saying how both her daughters were horrible sleepers until she implemented the Ferber method when her daughters were 5 and 9 months old. I requested the Ferber method book from the library out of curiosity and am interested to see what it says. I figure if I read about different methods of getting babies to sleep one of the methods will hopefully work for my baby. I also am going to read and watch The Happiest Baby on the Block since I've seen that recommended a few times on TB.

How far along are you? 24 weeks

    How big is baby? Cantaloupe

Any appointments this week? None until 1/31

Symptoms? My lower back also gets sore after prolonged standing. I've been very tired lately again, but I'm fighting a cold now so that's not helping. I went to bed at 9 pm last night and barely made it until then!

Cravings? Nothing really, but I've been hungry often.

Rants/Raves/Questions? We finally bought a dresser and a bookshelf for the baby's room. I already have a crib stored in the basement that was DD's and one of those Arm's Reach Cosleepers, but it's nice to have the rest of the big furniture purchased. I'm feeling a bit more prepared now. :)

GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure movie (you know it's bad, but you love it anyways)? Hm, probably Anchorman. I don't care for all of Will Ferrell's movies, but that one in particular cracks me up!

    How big is baby? Grapefruit

Any appointments this week? I had a checkup on Wednesday. All is good and got some suggestions on stretches

Symptoms? Rib pain on the right side especially after a big meal. I guess Im expanding more this time. The stretches seem to help but it hasnt been as bad since.

    Cravings? None at the moment

Rants/Raves/Questions? Im just so exhausted. We closed on the house yesterday and it went well. The dishwasher is no longer turning on though but we got home warranty so we will have to get in touch with them. Then after we finished up all the paperwork we went to a car dealership to check out a 2nd car for DH since he wont be able to bike to work anymore. We ended up being there for 4 hours but got a car out of it. Im just super grateful for my mom who was able to watch DD. And we stopped hy the house for a quick.. this is really ours, and DH tried to carry me over the threshold haha. I could barely stay awake and crashed as soon we got home.

GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure movie (you know it's bad, but you love it anyways)? I love all the older chick flicks mentioned so far like bring it on, 10 things I hate about you etc.

@pshaortao Yay for closing on your house!!! :)
  • @pshaortao I'm so glad you closed on the house!
  • @pshaortao congrats!! That's so exciting :)

I'm on my phone and my poor preggo brain isn't working right, so I can't get the questions to copy.

Im 25 weeks, which is a cauliflower. I'm craving all of the carbs EVER (get in my bellllllllllly), and no
    appointments for 2 more weeks.

Symptoms are exhaustion and straight up bitchiness. My company sold its assets recently, and we're in a transition period that is just a ton of work. I know I'm not doing my best, because I've been distracted recently and I just don't care. "Oh, I gave you the complete wrong information? Oh well do it yourself next time!".

Guily pleasure - um, 17 again is FABULOUS!!  Also I realized last weekend that if The Wedding Planner is on TBS, I'm incapable of passing it up! Lol

How big is baby? Coconut - makes me want to go on vacation somewhere warm!

Any appointments this week? I had a routine appt on Wednesday...was told to do more self-care and take magnesium for my leg aches.

Symptoms? Lower back pain...and I think I spotted my first stretch mark, oh well.

Cravings? Mexican food, baked goods, pizza!

Rants/Raves/Questions? I am so sick of hearing, "Well just you wait...it gets worse" whenever I tell someone my back hurts or I feel tired. Doesn't make me feel better!

GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure movie (you know it's bad, but you love it anyways)? I really like older Lifetime movies, in particular the ones with Tori Spelling - Mother May I Sleep With Danger? and Death of a Cheerleader. I have seen them countless times!

    24 weeks

    How big is baby
Canteloupe I think (though that seems big...must be length of the diameter)

    Any appointments this week
Not until Feb 7. I'll be doing the GD test at this one. They already gave me the special drink to have. This time I'm allowed to eat first, though, which is nice.

    Symptoms?
SPD stuff in general. I just started my semester this week (school) and I have a pretty good but intense/heavy teaching load. It's only been two days, but at the end of MWF I have a lot of SPD symptoms and I'm just wondering how I'm going to get through the whole pregnancy! I guess I'll be sitting and teaching later on. The only problem is that the room I'm in is VERY wide, so you pretty much have to pace or else you're nowhere near a huge chunk of the class while you're talking.

    Cravings?
    Sweets...but I'm not sure that's different from non-pregnant. :)

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
This should be on TMI Tuesday, but man I have SO much discharge and it's making me so stinky (not sure everyone else can smell it but I can). I seriously wish I had a bidet because I'm finding I need to shower or bathe just for my crotch area on a frequent basis. I tried THINX period underwear just because it's also enough discharge that it's a bit much for underwear, but I think it smells worse in THINX than in regular undies. Maybe I need to go for scented pantiliners or something.

GTKY: Favorite guilty pleasure movie (you know it's bad, but you love it anyways)
I can't think of a "favorite" and not many are coming to mind right now, but I saw someone above post a title with "cheeleader" in it and it reminded me that I really like Bring it On and similar movies, such as Center Stage, Stomp the Yard, and Drumline. (I tap dance and play the drums so I put all of these in the same category even though I realize most people wouldn't put Drumline and Center Stage together.)

  • @luckywife10 and @pshaortao -- I don't think that 10 things I hate about you is actually bad enough to be a guilty pleasure. I mean, it is based off of Shakespeare and all. ;-) And I like it a lot, too!

@ChristinaWild The wedding planner is an actual bad movie...and one I like as well. :)
@mcvgal yay for Bring it On :)

  • @kat81 Could you just use a wheely chair and push yourself back and forth across the room? :D
  • Whenever I think of "guilty pleasure" I think of food, like which foods do you eat that you really shouldn't. My mind always on food obviously :)

This is kinda random but I don't feel like posting it on the random thread of the week. Does anyone's SO not want to feel the baby kicking? Just yesterday I was able to feel my baby kicking both inside and by feeling the top of my stomach. I got really excited and ask H if he wanted to feel the kicking. He said no because the thought of touching someone's stomach is weird. I feel really crushed. Since this is my first pregnancy every week brings new experiences. I can't share these with H other than what he can see physically. I've been waiting for the day when H can feel the kicking, but now that's not going to happen.
  • @luckywife10 I think my H is impatiently waiting to feel baby kick but is trying to be all "manly" about it. That really stinks that yours is being a turd about it. Hopefully as we get further and bigger, he will change his mind!
  • @luckywife10: That really stinks that he's unwilling/uncomfortable to touch your kicking belly. I'm sorry you feel that disappointment. Like you said, every week brings new experiences, and perhaps over time he'll come around to your way of thinking, like, maybe he needs that adjustment time too every week. Maybe wait another week and offer him a touch again and see what happens, like, don't force it, but just offer it again after some time has passed. (Also, playing devil's advocate, maybe he really does have a stomach phobia. Has he avoided touching it previously, like when hugging you or doing the deed? Maybe you knew this already, kind of?)

I'd also suggest to talk to him about what you're feeling, the disappointment. Situations are always better when approached with a team mentality, when you're on the same page, so you need to be honest and upfront and not let any emotions fester, because guys are seriously not mind-readers. Good luck!
  • P.S. He'll likely have to do baby's belly button care in those first days, too, so that convo (about his comfort level) should happen sooner rather than later.  :)
  • @luckywife10 My husband hasn't been nearly as excited about the baby movements, either. He would try to feel when I said she was moving a lot, and he finally did get to feel a big kick, but he just wasn't as into it as I am. I love to feel the movements! I make comments when she's really doing a lot of moving still, but I don't really ask if he wants to feel it anymore. I figure he'll feel it if he wants to.

I agree with @SKZW that if he's genuinely uncomfortable touching stomachs, you might need to prepare him for baby care. But I honestly wouldn't be too worried about him not being excited about the movements. My dad always told me how he didn't really feel connected to each of us 3 kids during the pregnancy. It just wasn't as real to him because he didn't get to intimately feel movements and experience all the aches and pains and body changes. But, he said as each of us was born, he fell in love immediately. I think it's just not always as easy for the guy to connect at this point.
  • @kat81 Could you just use a wheely chair and push yourself back and forth across the room? :D
haha good point; we have those in that classroom! But a wheely stool is better because the chairs are low. Only the front row or so would really see me.

  • @luckywife10 - my husband was like that with our first. I think it was because I was able to feel the kicks so much sooner than he was, so he got annoyed with me asking "can you feel that??", when he couldn't. Once the kicks got stronger, he was a lot more excited about it.
