what a pregnancy this has been! it seems like my first was all issues with my body. Short Cervix, regular contractions, bed rest, diabetes.....but this time it's all a combo. Misdiagnosed miscarriage at 5 weeks only to find out i was still pregnant at 7 weeks (Yay) Short long bones at 20 weeks leading to a huge discussion about genetic testing...got the "clear" for that and now they did a followup growth scan at 31 weeks and his head is measuring right where it should but the rest of him is measuring around 4 weeks smaller... The doctors are scratching their heads because anatomically he looks perfect, just small...so now it's weekly Biophysical profiles and another growth scan in 3 weeks. It's been so stressful. The OB i saw (not my regular) was so scientific and cold about what it COULD be that basically I was left to google the two possible things she mentioned. overall he's measuring in the 17th% so they aren't terribly concerned about that but his body is measuring in the 1% according to where it should be so that freaks me out a bit. I could do an amnio but at this points the risks (although small) outweigh the pros. I'd get to know "probably definitively" (according to doc again) but it could also send me in to pre term labor and I don't want to risk all of all health issues that can come with that, if he turns out to have any kind of other special needs.
here's to hoping I just have a little guy in there. I've read a lot of stories about moms getting the same info and having typical sized babies. I just want him healthy overall.
