How big is baby? Acorn Squash? Though I can't say I've ever seen an acorn squash that is 15 inches. Some of these measurements are super confusing.
Appointments this week? No appointments this week.
Symptoms? I've managed to catch a cold. So feeling super congested and extra run down. Baby girl is still kicking and wiggling around there so I hope she is doing okay.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Counting kicks? I've talked to my dr about this and I've been thinking about it and I just feel like it's going to make me more crazy... like "is that a normal amount?" "Does that kick really count?" what if she is just not consistent or sleeping when I try to check. I feel like the kick count was supposed to be a reassuring thing but will probably just make me second guess everything.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about yourself? I like to cook and can do that very well. It leads to us entertaining our friends a lot. I imagine this will shift as the baby comes but still hoping to carve out time to cook and to have people over.
How far along are you? 28 weeks! Officially 3rd tri, I think?
How big is baby? A 1 pound plate of wings (gimme gimme).
Appointments this week? Nope. I don't have anything until 30 weeks, but then I switch to every two weeks.
Symptoms? SPD, reflux, lots of RLP, and my iron supplement (which has fixed my exhaustion problem!!) makes me super gassy...like, burping all the time. DH is a lucky, lucky guy.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Rant: Maternity leave in the US is a joke. I could go into detail, but I don't want to get myself all fired up about it again, haha. Rave: Yesterday, I asked DS if I could have a kiss (he normally will blow a kiss to you), and he came over and gave me a giant, open mouth kiss right on the lips. It was so precious that I didn't even care about the fact that he has a cold. And then he kept giving me smooches all over my face and it was just the cutest. I love that kid, and he's in a stage where it seems like he's learning something new every day and it's just awesome. AND when we went to his 18 month well-check last week, we learned that he's stacking blocks at a 2 year old level...such a ridiculous thing to have a "proud momma" moment about though, haha.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about yourself? Eh, I'm not really my biggest fan, haha. I guess that I'm good at my job and I work hard for my students. I'm hopefully making a positive impact on the lives of these kiddos, but it's hard to tell.
Symptoms? Very achy hips, super uncomfortable trying to sleep and can't sleep in very long intervals.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Rant: Just not feeling very positive about myself these days. I have enjoyed being pregnant and am thankful to be growing this little life, but I am just not feeling very attractive these days so it's kind of put me in a downer mood.
Rave: We have gone ahead and switched DS into his new room last weekend to be able to start getting baby girl's room prepped even though she will be sleeping in our room the first few months. I was super worried about moving DS with all the bedtime issues we've had with him but he has been an absolute CHAMP! Phew, one less thing for mama to worry about. We thought about not even moving him til we were ready to put her in her own room but it will be nice to have one less transition for him/us.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about yourself? haha, see above rant - not the best day to answer this question! I feel ya @snarkasaurusRex, I am not generally my biggest fan either! Yeah, I don't even know that I can answer this one today sadly!
How big is baby? A 1 gallon jug of milk (whoa!), an acorn squash (does not seem comparable in size)
Appointments this week? I had bloodwork this morning and an OB appt on Friday - review bloodwork plus checkup. Plus DH and I are doing a two-evening "preparing for baby" class this week. It's been busy!!
Symptoms? I'm not sleeping super well right now. The snoogle helps me not sleep on my back, but it hasn't made me love side sleeping yet. I am also starting to get achy hips when I wake up in the middle of the night, and general pelvic achiness (another form of RLP according to my OB) off and on when I stand up pretty much all day. Have to pee all the time.
Rant/Rave/Questions? Rave: This girl is trying to stretch out!! Multiple times a day for the past few days I've felt this hard lump near my right ribcage, I'll put my hand there to feel it and it's clearly an appendage (I *think* a leg). Is it normal to feel about 90% of movement on the right side of my belly at this stage? I almost never feel her on my left side.
@jdupree15 My OB hasn't asked me about doing kick counts yet but I'm sure it's coming. I've tried it a bit on my own. I agree that it's not worth obsessing over (because as you said baby could be sleeping or in a position where you can't feel his/her movement as much), but I guess it helps establish a baseline so you know if there's a significant deviation from normal?
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about yourself? Today I'll say it's my "get it done" drive (although admittedly sometimes I need a kick in the pants to get to that stage!) I agree @SnarkasaurusRex and @mylittleirvz that it's tough to answer this question some days. Hope things start looking up soon.
I have my monthly appt tomorrow and should get my rhogam shot as well.
Symptoms?
Tired. Like really tired. I also put in a call to my OB office this morning because I think I'm having gallbladder issues. My symptoms pretty much line up with that, so I'm hoping there's an easy fix to get some relief.
Rant/Rave/Questions?
Has anyone here experienced gallbladder issues either before or during pregnancy? Just curious about how to handle it while I'm pregnant.
GTKY: What is your favorite thing about yourself? I'm learning how to be more honest with others without being too harsh. I had trouble confronting people about issues that needed to be discussed because I would come off as too harsh or cold. I think of it as matter-of-fact, but it doesn't always translate well. I have shied away from really being honest for a long time, but with some help over the years, I'm finally comfortable with communicating and connecting with people. I finally feel like I'm able to have genuine conversations and growth from them, and I hope the people in my life feel the same way.
@schef070911, I'd say yes, that's normal to feel more movement in a concentrated area as they get bigger and run out of room. I was feeling mostly movements on my left side and at my last sono the doc confirmed that she was curled with her spine and butt to my right side and her feet were where I was feeling the most movements.
Lately though I feel like she is doing full body stretches cause i'll feel what feels like head butts to my cervix or something and pushes up high on my belly near my ribs at the same time. Holy moly child!
@schef070911 I feel this little girl mostly on my right side as well. I actually just learned that her feet are up near my ribs on the left...never would have known because I hardly ever feel her up there. Mainly on my right around my belly button is where she likes to hit me.
