Apologies for the AW post. I wasn't sure the best place of this, as it's not really a check in, wto, or tww question....
My 2nd loss was a miscarriage at 20 weeks due to chromosomal disorder that resulted in the baby developing hydrops. From the time I found out something was wrong (12 weeks) to the loss and D&E procedure (20 weeks), I saw the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist weekly.
After the loss, she said she was very hopeful for the next pregnancy and that it did not appear to be a reoccurring issue. However, she did recommend I meet with her for a consult before trying again. My consult meeting is this Thursday.
H and I had our DNA tested, and everything came back normal, so it wasn't likely something that is our DNA to pass along.
Anyone else been through this? Any suggestions on questions to ask the MFM before we try again?

Re: Questions for MFM
May I ask what chromosomal issue your baby had? I saw an mfm with my first because they saw some soft markers that were confirmed with her birth to be t21. But with my miscarriage nothing was brought up to go back to a mfm. And my ob never asked me after her birth to go back.
My assumption is that if it was a non-disjunction chromosomal issue ( not hereditary) than there is nothing they can do for the next pregnancy. A genetic counselor would be more helpful if you wanted to go.
No need to see my OB - just the MFM. They have a genetic counselor in the office. I don't know if she'll be in the appointment too.
I'm just not sure what else she will tell me when we meet that she didn't already share - it's not hereditary, it's random, chance of happening again is almost impossible. That's why I was hoping someone could share some insight.
