Saturday Ticker Change 1-7-17

I thought I'd go ahead and post just in case we have some ladies besides me who change weeks today!

For those unfamiliar, your ticker change day is whatever day of the week that you start a new week in your pregnancy. For
example, If you are 5+0 weeks today, then Saturdays are your ticker change days. You will only check in on Sayurday's threads.

How far along are you?
6 weeks

How big is baby? blueberry

Upcoming appointments this week?
I have my first ultrasound and prenatal appointment onThursday morning and I'm so excited.

Any new symptoms or changes?
I haven't had a ton of symptoms. My breasts are really sore and my skin is acting up. My sense of smell is pretty intense right now. I haven't had much nausea yet, but I have zero appetite. I've been eating way too much cereal and baked potatoes when I have to eat.

Rants/Raves/Questions?
is your significant other going to your first appointment? My h is off and is planning on coming, but is that weird or anything?

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
we have two weimeraners, Hadley and Piper, who are spoiled rotten. We also have a fat cat named Jerry. They are absolutely the best and make our lives so much better.

@ChelleCPA wow 6 weeks!! Yes, my husband is coming to my first u/s. It's not weird at all! Totally normal. I definitely needed him there the past two times when we were given devastating news, and I hope it will be even better for us to witness together a thriving baby (FX).

@Sugargirl1019 I know! I'm starting to get so excited, but I constantly feel like I'm holding my breath and have to remind myself to breathe out. Thanks for the reassurance about taking h to the ultrasound. I asked the nurse, and all she said was sometimes h's come and sometimes they don't. Um, thanks, that was helpful.  I'm so excited for you!  It's going to be magical when you both see your sweet little baby on the screen soon.

@ChelleCPAnot telling you how to do your job lol but for future reference it would be easier for us if you made the first post without your answers and then made a second post with your answers..... that way we can copy and paste the template instead of copy and pasting your post and then having to delete your answers to insert ours.  It's more difficult to do on a phone anyway.    Also, my husband is coming to my first appointment because *TW*  in my experience going to the doctor and finding out bad news (such as no heartbeat) is not something I want to be alone for again.   It happened about 12 years ago (I have since had 2 healthy pregnancies ) but the devastation is fresh in my mind.  He travels a lot and won't be going to every appointment but definitely the first one and then the big milestone appointments after that.

How far along are you? 5 weeks

    How big is baby?  Appleseed

    Upcoming appointments this week?
I have a maternity intake appt Monday at veterans affairs, only for the purposes of referring me to an outside provider since the VA isn't so great with babies LOL. Next week I do have an Ultrasound with my RE though that my husband will attend.

    Any new symptoms or changes?
I have had a headache for 2 days that Tylenol won't get rid of

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I am not sick yet and I'm trying to savor that.

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
2 kitties. We didn't think we were cat people but it was much easier to take care of cats than
Dogs.  My husband was extremely upset when i brought home kittens for the kids a couple years ago but now he loves them.

@sugarpixxie2 once I read your suggestion about posting the questions first to make it easier to copy, it seemed so obvious. Sorry about that, will definitely do it next time.  :) I'm really happy my husband is off so that he can go. You're right. It will be good to have him there for good or bad news. Unfortunately bc of his work schedule he won't be able to make all of them either. Also Tylenol does absolutely nothing for me either.  :(

@ChelleCPA - We haven't decided if DH will come to the first appointment. He's excited about it all, but he's not really into the details, ya know? I think he will want to be there for the major ones, so I am going to try to convince him to come to the first one.

    How far along are you?
    5 weeks

How big is baby? Lavender bud (according to the French Patisserie setting on Ovia)

    Upcoming appointments this week?
No appointments yet. Still trying to decide between OB or midwife and planning to wait until after a vacation we have planned mid-January.

    Any new symptoms or changes?
Headaches every morning and starting to feel the fatigue. It's not constant, but when I do need to rest/sleep I need to do it NOW.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
We made a commitment months ago that when this happened (this is our first pregnancy), we would wait the full 12 weeks to tell anyone. I caved and told my sister this morning and I think it is going to only get harder and harder to not share the news. At this point, I'd be happy if I made it into February without spilling the beans. What are your strategies for keeping the secret?!

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
We have a greyhound (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and a fat cat (Jasper).

How big is baby? Sweet Pea

    Upcoming appointments this week?
I had my intake with the nurse on Friday & got my ultrasound scheduled for 1/23 (15 more days!). Got my prelim lab work done that day too. 1 hour glucose was good (not sure why they test that so early).

    Any new symptoms or changes?
I have less symptoms this time than last time. Most of all I'm just super tired and battle daily heartburn.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
I'm waiting until next Saturday to try & hear the baby's HB on my home doppler. Last time I was able to hear it at about 7+2. =D

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
Two kitties: an 11 year old Calico (Cali) & a 1 year old domestic (5-0..cuz he's black & white):

How big is baby? Appleseed :)

    Upcoming appointments this week?
My first appointment will be on 1/23 :)

    Any new symptoms or changes?
I have had a TON of symptoms.

    Sore breasts
    fatigues
    headaches every day
    nausea
    sensitivity to certain smells
    thankfully no vomiting
some fibrocystic changes as well that I plan on talking to my obgyn about.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
My boyfriend will be attending my first appointment when it gets to be that time. :) The only thing that concerns me is I'm going to need to save a lot of money as my job does not offer paid maternity leave. I can take up to 12 weeks off, which I plan to do, but I will need to be sure I will have enough by that time.

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
I have one 9 year old bull mastiff. He is amazing

@MzOro82214 think you meant to post on the Sunday ticker change? But if you like us Saturday peeps I totally understand!

@Msashley2010 looks like you will be Mondays,  but there may not be a Monday Thread from last week. Look for it tomorrow,  or better yet check the "read this first" thread to make sure they have a volunteer for Mondays ticker change and if not maybe you can volunteer!

How big is baby? Lady bug

    Upcoming appointments this week?
No appointments this week - first one 1/19.

    Any new symptoms or changes?
Just nausea so far.  I am craving beef - I made a prime rib last night for dinner and ate a HUGE piece and I have no desire for any sweets. Last pregnancy, I was at McDonald's getting a McFlurry every other day.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
My hubby is being super supportive and helpful around the house lately - LOVE it!

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
We have one Siamese cat named Eeyore who will be 18 years old when the new baby is born. We have her on Prozac because our 18 month old daughter "terrorizes" the cat. She loves on the cat, follows her around, and means well, but Eeyore freaks out. I'm not sure what will happen when we bring another baby home...

    Upcoming appointments this week?
I had an ultrasound today! saw the perfect baby with a perfect heart beat! (I'm high risk so I will have 1 a week until out of the first tri)

    Any new symptoms or changes?
My breasts just starting hurting really bad.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
@ChelleCPA I agree with a previous post I've gotten really bad news at an ultrasound alone and now I'm making my poor hubby come to every single one until I feel confident. I was so upset after one he had to come get me anyway because I couldn't drive.

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
I have a 9 year old papillion named Kingston, a 2 year old australian cattle dog named Axel and a 6 month old kitten named Poppy.

    Missed this on Saturday.

    How far along are you?
6 weeks (+ 3 days ... since today is now Tuesday)

How big is baby? sweet pea

    Upcoming appointments this week?
Nothing. Still waiting on bloodwork results. Ultrasound is scheduled for Jan 30.

    Any new symptoms or changes?
    Cramps, exhausted.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Rant. At the end of my last pregnancy, I had to fill out a form at my OBs office for some reason. One of the questions was to call my insurance and see where I was approved to get labwork. I'm pretty sure I'm covered pretty much anywhere (I remember the girl on the phone being confused why I needed one answer). So she listed a couple, I wrote one down, turned in my form and thought nothing of it. I had no more labwork done that pregnancy. Well now here we are pregnancy #2, first step at my OB office is to get the hcg lab test done. Nbd .. they have a lab in the office. Apparently, since I wrote down some other place last time, I needed to go there for my labwork. I went Saturday. It's now Tuesday and I've gotten no results. If the numbers were low they wanted a redo in 48 hours, but that ship has long passed. I'm not super concerned about the results, I'm just kinda worried they are going to make me do it again since the 48 hours is up. Hopefully the levels are good - I don't have time to take off of work to do it again.

Rant over. Sorry that got so long.

GTKY: Do you have any pets?
Nope. I'm allergic to cats and dogs.
