New Years Eve Plans?

What are you doing or what did you do for New Years Eve? I know we're all planning on hitting it pretty hard.

Re: New Years Eve Plans?

  • Night in with the hubby, my cat, and my newly acquired bumpaliciousness that's freaking me out. I want to make it to 12..... but I went to sleep at 9 last night, so we'll see. I am crazy though and invited my parents, grandmother, MIL (with an adorable in-training therapy golden retriever in tow), SMIL and FIL, and GMIL over for lunch and board games. Here's hoping I keep feeling good! I'm going on three days here actually feeling like a semi normal human, and I don't normally get this long of a streak. But I'm halfway through week 12 so maybe I can win? Except that I still haven't cleaned my house from Christmas.

  • The children's museum here does at countdown to noon so I was planning to take DS, but he woke up coughing so much he threw up in bed this morning so we are staying home. DH is working this weekend so I'll probably just go to bed early. No fun here! We at least stayed up the past 2 years but I don't have it in me this year. And to think 4 years ago we went rented a house with 20 people and went clubbing 3 nights straight to celebrate NYE  :D
  • We have family from out of state and upstate visiting my mom, so we will head over there (probably in pajamas) for dinner and games.  I highly doubt we will make it to 12.  They have no expectations of me as far as staying awake/eating normal food, so that's nice.
  • We are doing the aquarium this morning and maybe ds's first movie this afternoon/evening. We were planning on staying up and letting ds just pass out in the living room but last night we both fell asleep on the couch at 7:30. So we will probably give in and put him in bed at the usual time.

I live in the Midwest so I could see the ball drop at 11 but since we don't have cable we might not get it til 12. Previous years they didn't air it at 11 live and aired it at midnight.
  • I'm going to a wedding. I'm planning to take a nap once we get to the hotel around 3 because otherwise I will fall asleep before midnight. Not to mention, I am the DD.
    Married: 10/13/2013

  • We have a wedding also. I will be attempting to stay awake past midnight and make it through the night without all my friends realizing I'm not drinking (haven't shared the news with many people yet).

I think ABC is doing a broadcast from New Orleans so I don't know if its a ball drop but maybe it's live!

  • Headed to a friends house. Not sure if we will stay till midnight or not. Haven't seen midnight on New Year's Eve in years!
  • Spontaneously having a few people over!
It'll be pretty tame though... something like this:
    https://youtu.be/S8WWiAn4pec
  • Hitting the pillows hard maybe, but I want to stay up long enough to watch 2016 die.
    Babysizer Geeky Pregnancy Baby Tracker
  • Having a giant steak, junk food and watching tv in bed.  My kids are having a "party" at MILs and DH and some of his friends are going to drink beer around the fire in the backyard.  I don't even think I want to make it to midnight.

Surprise BFP on 10/25/16!!! Baby Firecracker is due on 07/02/17!
  • We are on a mini vacation so we plan on going to Chuck E Cheese's for lunch, DS's favorite place and hopefully he'll run off his energy. We'll do some shopping and maybe go swimming at the hotel pool. Then we'll probably eat somewhere and come back to our hotel to watch the ball drop, we aren't exciting at all.

  • @GlitterFish OMG, that is totally something my DH would say! I actually read it out loud to him and he was LOLing!

I still have yet to make a decision - DH has to work until about 6, then we have some friends who are hosting a shindig at their downtown loft. It could be fun, but they are all just in a very different place in life (think let's-try-to-drink-as-many-bud-lights-as-we-can where I am (or was) more let's-grab-a-few-good-craft-beers). I just don't know if I feel like dealing with all of it, including the fake drinking all night since they'd definitely notice if I didn't have a drink in my hand.

Honestly, I'm thinking a night of good cheese, salami, crackers and faux-champagne sounds pretty perfect right about now!!

  • @Kelsey813 countdown to noon is such a cute idea for kids. I'll have to see if they offer something like that in my area after LO arrives.

@GlitterFish so jealous that you have an IKEA close to you. The closest one to me is five hours but I am dying to go.

DH and I throw a NYE dinner party every year. We aldo have friends staying with us so the plan is boozey brunch (for everyone except me) then come home, cook and lounge all day before the party starts.

Headed to the natural science museum right now with DH and DD and then to Cheesecake Factory to burn some Xmas gift cards for lunch. As for tonight, a movie with homemade popcorn probably and sleep. It's never been a big deal to either DH or me

  • If you have Netflix they have different countdowns you can play whenever you want For the kids. We do a NY New Year's Eve since we live on the west cost and celebrate at 9pm. (It's midnight somewhere right?)
we are going to a friends house for food and to let the kids play. We'll prob be home by 9:30 and go to bed. Lol
  • Hitting my pillow pretty hard counts, right?
Came here to say that. We might make it to the local bookstore this afternoon... I know, I know, we need to calm down and remember there's a little baby to think of.
    ~DD arrived July 4, 2017~
  • We are headed to a friends house for a small get together. Fortunately they all know I'm pregnant so I don't have to hide anything. Probably going to have to take a nap this afternoon if I want to make it to midnight!
  • Sleeping! I'm going to a Pilates mat class this morning, clean all day, find something for DD to do to burn off some energy, and have noodles tonight. Tomorrow we're going to little Tokyo to watch New Year's Day celebrations (and eat mochi :)
  • We'll probably go to dinner and then be home to put DD to bed at 7! Ha!

Usually we have people over but our TV in the family room broke and we haven't replaced it yet. Secretly we're kinda excited to have a chill night and watch our show on Netflix!! We haven't even told people we don't have plans so they don't invite us anywhere!
  • We're flying home (with our 1.5 year old son) to TX tonight at 11:30 PM. We get in at 5:30 tomorrow morning. WHAT WERE WE THINKING? Happy freakin new year to us.
  • We decided to go to Vegas.  Will not fly without snacks again.

We have wanted to do NYE in Vegas for years and this will be our last one as just a twosome so it was really important to me we check this off the bucket list.

Hope everyone has a great, safe, happy new year!

  • DH and I are staying up and watching movies and I'll make carbonara (which I've decided is okay to eat)!

We usually end up doing that because flights are cheaper- hope you found a deal at least!

We are getting Chili's to Go and watching a movie on Netflix after DD goes to bed.  SUPER FANCY!

Ugh. I seem to already have the NYE hang over, for the past two months, because I spent all night and morning barfing, still.

On a lighter note, I found a Harry Potter marathon on TV. Wish I felt up to doing something! Next year?!

ETA: I'm not really peeing and worried I'll end up in ER for fluids at this rate. Headache and zero energy. Smiling takes too much out of me. Someone suggested gaterade and thank you. Lemon-Lime flavor has been great just hoping some of it is being retained between vomiting.
  • We're having dinner at beni Hana tonight and then possibly stopping by my co worker's place, although I'm not sold on doing that ... lol I'd much rather be home, and I'll probably fall asleep way before midnight despite my afternoon nap

  • @GlitterFish I laughed out loud!  I just read that joke to DH. He rolled his eyes at me but he totally knows that's something he would say. Haha.
  • Watching Friends and going to bed early haha! We're wild kids in this house!
  • Ugh, so I don't want to Dear Diary, but DH just had a friend ask if we were coming out to a party and then a bar later. DH said we were just going to stay in and keep it low key. The friend responds with "Sounds good, have a fun night. What should I say when people ask when RunRestRepeat is due? ;)

I literally just want to smack him. He and his wife don't know we were trying or are ku, which pisses me off even more. Like, just because we want to stay in means I'm pregnant? And even if you had an inkling we were pregnant, why wouldn't you just shut the f*ck up and not ruin things for us. Bah! I'm so annoyed. And people are so rude.

Thanks for allowing me to vent!

  • Ok so I have to tell you all what happened today at the aquarium in Chicago. I almost cried and it wasn't my baby. So a baby, I'm guessing one year old, she was walking and saying mama. I saw the baby walking but there was maybe 10 people around us so I didn't think much of it til she started screaming crying and calling for her mama. A staff member was there and immediately approached her and tried to help. The staff member was calling out, yelling so people could hear, "who's little girl is this?" Everyone just looked around and no one claimed her so she got security who was near. We went around the corner to sit bc we had been waiting in line for the show.  I didn't hear or see distraut parents.  Someone lost their one year old, I would have been freaking out looking for her. I was almost crying thinking about losing my kid. Then when we saw them together after the show Dh said earlier he saw a baby baby in a stroller with no parent around and he walked down the hall and back and then the mom came up the stairs. He said he thought it was the same mom.
  • This is my third year in a row being pregnant on New Years Eve so I'm pretty used to doing nothing. Our two youngest are already sleeping (637pm) WEEHOO! And our 5 year old is up watching Shrek at the moment. We live in a neighborhood where the houses are close together and tons of people are having parties so that'll be irritating. The hubs and I think we're going to rent a movie...thinking action, but can't pick which one!!
  • We're currently watching NYE Christmas, but I plan on falling asleep on the hubs pretty soon here.  I have to work at 6am tomorrow, and mama needs her sleep!  Our other two babies are fast asleep!

  • @Cait32 this is very true!! Movies are ridiculously expensive these days!
